Two young domestic shorthair female cats. Tabby is one year old and is mostly black, but has a spot of white on her chest and belly. She has a flea allergy, so must be an indoor cat. Taz is a 1.5-year-old tuxedo kitty and is the more adventurous one of the pair. They are both a little shy at first, but are sweet and playful. They came to us with another cat because the owner’s landlord did not allow that many cats. These two are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. The Town of Great Barrington seeks qualified applicants to fill the position of a full time Health Inspector. The Health Inspector position, under the general direction of the Health Agent, is responsible for performing public health inspections to ensure compliance with state and local sanitary codes. Responsibilities include; investigation of food and general nuisance complaints, enforcement of state codes and local bylaws, and to assist the Health Agent in various public health inspections.

The position requires moderate physical effort for the onsite inspections, the ability to interpret and understand regulations and enforce them firmly, impartially, and respectfully, a Manager’s Food Safety certification, and a valid driver’s license and independent means of transportation. The preferred candidate would have strong communication skills both orally and in writing, with the ability to prepare detailed reports dealing with inspection results and correction orders. Compensation for this position is $18-$22.00 per hour, depending on experience, for up to 32 hours a week and includes benefits. Applicants must be available for occasional weekend hours.
