“My work is painting landscapes that enlarge my senses, my experience of life,” said Linda. “Setting up my easel and just being with what is in front of me is where I start. From the Grand Canyon to the red rock of Sedona and Ghost Ranch, from the winter beauty of the Taos mountains to the lavender fields of Abiquiu in the summer, the world of the Southwest presents me with a unique beauty. The essence of my art is to translate what I see and feel to paint and canvas, and then to invite the viewer to share that moment in time with me.”
The most traditional of our artists at New Concept Gallery, Linda Petersen renders the distinct landscapes of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona in warm, rich tones. Her oil paintings convey the beauty of the American southwest with grace, showcasing our adobe architecture, crystalline blue skies, sculpted rock formations and oasislike river valleys to perfection.
Petersen earned her B.F.A. in Denver in 2001, and spent two summers painting in Italy. Her small plein air studies and larger studio works show a European influence, flavored by her years spent savoring the extraordinary landscapes of the Four Corners region.
