THE FACES OF TIME| 1
Daniel D. Stine “The world is in constant motion,” says Stine. “Eroding, mixing, carving, and layering itself through the slow, relentless process of creation. In any given moment, the landscape appears still, as if suspended in time. These paintings explore that paradox, preserving brief snapshots of places shaped over countless ages.” In recent years, Daniel has carved out more time for his own practice of wandering, observing, contemplating, and documenting the deserts, canyons, and mesas that inspire his work. Each painting is born from this process and a deep reverence for place, reflecting not only the landscapes themselves but also the experience of moving through them. Each painting is itself a work of time. Through exploration of light, rich color, and meticulous detail, Daniel honors these enduring landscapes, inviting viewers to contemplate the vastness of geologic time and the presence found in a single, passing moment. Faces of Time is an invitation to slow down, to look closely, and to recognize the stories the land has been telling long before we arrived. Daniel D Stine is from the desert. He spent most of his early years exploring the landscape in and around Arizona and New Mexico where his family has lived for generations. Stine attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and spent over a decade around the Great Lakes region before returning to the Southwest. Daniel’s work is held in private collections both domestically and internationally and has practiced his art in Flagstaff, Arizona; Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; and Prague, Czech Republic. He currently resides just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, by the Pecos River.
