Why LED light therapy is a winter skincare must-have.
W
hen it comes to glowing, healthy skin, winter isn’t always ideal. Cold winds, indoor heating, hot
showers and less natural light can leave your complexion feeling dull and dry. But one beauty treatment gaining popularity for its ability to rejuvenate and enhance skin during the cooler months is LED light therapy, sometimes known as LED laser treatment. Loved by professionals and celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Kate Hudson and the entire Kardashian family, this noninvasive treatment is designed to treat a range of skin concerns using the power of light. Here’s everything you need to know about LED light therapy and where you can try it out in the Hunter region.

Taste . Explore . Unwind Elegant Wines. Home Of Experiences.
YOU'VE SEEN THE COVER. NOW MEET THE CAST. WITH EMMA WHITE By now, you’ve probably flicked through this issue of Newcastle Weekly and spotted the rather good-looking bunch on the cover. That’s us—the owners, winemakers, and assorted characters from Around Hermitage. If you spot us this weekend, don’t be disappointed if we aren’t quite as polished in real life. That cover took plenty of squinting, blinking, and far more takes than any of us care to admit! That’s your first behind-the-scenes story, and that’s what D'Vine Weekend is really about. This magazine tells you where to go; I’m here to tell you what to ask. Around Hermitage is special because we’re proudly independent. We aren't run from a boardroom. The owners are mowing the lawns, fixing pumps, tasting barrels, worrying about the weather, and welcoming you at the cellar door—often all in the same day.
WINE TASTINGS . WINE BY THE GLASS DUMPLINGS & WINE PAIRINGS PICNICS . LIGHT FOOD OPTIONS
You don’t just taste wine here; you meet the people who risked everything to make it. Skip "What's your best seller?" and ask the real questions: “How much beer do you actually drink during vintage?” “Which wine nearly broke your heart?” “At what point during harvest do you question your life choices?” “Which wine are you secretly most proud of?” These stories aren't on the back label, though fair warning: ask a winemaker one good question, and you’ll still be there 20 minutes later! Every winery around Hermitage has its own personality, with no script and no marketing department telling us what to say. Just real people, real wines, and the occasional confession. Come explore Around Hermitage, discover hidden gems, ask questions, and stay longer than planned. When you find yourself at Latitude 32 Wines, pop in and say hello. Tell me you read this, and I’ll happily pour you a glass and prove I really do look like the cover photo... on a good day. One final tip: Book ahead! The best experiences fill quickly. We can't wait to welcome you.

WHY I’M RIDING FOR SICK KIDS WITH NICOLE SOMERVILLE
S
ome opportunities sound exciting. Others simply matter. Becoming an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW falls firmly into the second category.
I am proud to support an organisation that gives families something
they desperately need when a child is seriously ill or injured, the chance to stay together. As a mum, it is difficult to imagine anything more important than being beside your child when they need you most. For many families across Northern NSW, specialist care means travelling hours from home and leaving behind work, school and their support networks. Ronald McDonald House helps ease that pressure by providing accommodation and practical support close to hospital care. That is why my first order of duty was to support the Ride for Sick Kids. The official ride covers 520 kilometres from Glen Innes to Newcastle over five days. While I cannot join the riders on the road, I still wanted to take on a challenge that reflected their commitment. So, throughout August, I have committed to riding double the distance, some 1,040 kilometres, on a spin bike.
B LO N D E S PEC I A L I ST
Let me be clear, that is a very long way. It will mean early mornings, tired legs and more time on a spin bike than I ever imagined. I’ll even clock up some kilometres live during the Nic and Joel breakfast show, with a bike set up in the NEWFM studio thanks to Urth Fitness.
K E R AT I N S M O OT H I N G H A I R EXT E N S I O N S
When it feels tough, I will think about the parents beside hospital beds, the siblings whose lives have been turned upside down and the families hundreds of kilometres from home. Suddenly, another session on the bike feels very small. My ambassador role is about helping more people understand the amazing work Ronald McDonald House does and encouraging our community to get behind it. It is also about using Newcastle Weekly, Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle,

BUSINESS BUZZ WITH BOB HAWES
B
usiness Hunter threw a big party recently and the occasion was our 140th birthday. Yes, it is 140 years since the first gathering of civic leaders in Newcastle’s Great Northern Hotel to form what
was then known as the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce. That’s quite a local legacy, and it was fitting that we had NSW Premier Chris Minns as special guest at an anniversary lunch attended by nearly 400 people, including a who’s who of local MPs and ministers, mayors and many life members, past presidents and directors of Business Hunter who have played a key role in our history. The event was a reminder of the vital role business leadership has
myrtec.com.au
played in shaping the Hunter's economic success and prosperity – and making our region a better place to live and work not just for business but for all of the community. Business Hunter has stood alongside the region through every major chapter of change since 1886. From the growth of the port and coal industry to the closure of BHP, the rise of advanced manufacturing and the new-energy economy and the challenges of COVID-19, the organisation has consistently advocated for jobs, investment and economic opportunity. Addressing the gathering, Premier Minns focused on one of the defining issues facing the Hunter: managing the transition to a cleaner energy future while maintaining economic strength. He reaffirmed support for mine extensions that meet regulatory requirements while also backing the state's Renewable Energy Zone program, describing both as critical elements of a balanced transition. He also spoke about the NSW Government’s recent gamechanging decision to start building trains again in the Hunter. As our region stands on the cusp of another major economic transformation, Business Hunter's role has rarely been more important. One hundred and forty years on, we are ready to help write the Hunter's next chapter.
