Soccer 1

Players will learn dribbling, passing, defense and shooting goals! Fun skill games are played at every session, and every participant will have a ball at their feet. Small-sided soccer matches will be introduced gradually. Perfect for first time players while being fun and engaging for kids with some experience. All participants receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey! Shin guards are required after the first meeting.

Soccer 2

A great introduction to competitive soccer, Skillz and Scrimmages teaches advanced skill building such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a team format, as well as an introduction to goaltending. Kids will scrimmage and learn to play together as a team. Kids get exposure to playing every position and have a blast doing it. Appropriate for players of varying skill levels. And... best of all, each participant receives a Kidz Love Soccer jersey!

Willy Wonka Jr. (part 2) Theater Class

Students who have completed part 1 are eligible for this class. Those who have not will sign up for ensemble roles. The Theater Factory is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by bringing the magic of Willy Wonka Jr. to town! We specialize in training and preparing future creative leaders for their acting careers or for enhancing communication skills for any career they might choose. Self Defense Karate

Learn basic self-defense techniques in a fun and supportive “safety awareness” program, develop self-confidence, discipline, and strength through the practice of basic Karate. KENDO “The Way of the Sword”

Beginner: This class is for those who have never practiced Kendo or need to brush up on the fundamental movements of Kendo. The beginner class focuses on the basics and understanding the characteristics of kendo. A non-refundable material fee of $35 is due to the instructor on the first day of the class meeting. Intermediate/Advanced: This class is for both those who have recently graduated from the beginner course and experienced kendo practitioners who are able to demonstrate proficiency in the fundamentals of KENDO. Instructor approval is required prior to enrollment.

Spring Break Leaders in Training Camp

Tuesday, April 11th - Thursday, April 13th

Leaders in Training are invaluable members of our summer team as they provide support to our recreation leaders. Volunteers are trained in supervision, safety, problemsolving, and leading camp activities. Like an internship, volunteers will receive on-the-job training and job skills that are not available through other mediums and will work with City staff to lead camp activities, supervise students, and represent the City of Newark.

All Leaders in Training (LITs) will be certified in CPR and First Aid Training. LITs who successfully pass the spring break training will have the opportunity to apply for a Summer 2023 Volunteer Position. Volunteer space is limited.
