Self Defense Karate
For Ages 5-11
Learn basic self-defense techniques in a fun and supportive “safety awareness” program, develop self-confidence, discipline, and strength through the practice of basic Karate. KENDO “The Way of the Sword”
Beginner: This class is for those who have never practiced Kendo or need to brush up the fundamental movements of Kendo. The beginner class focuses on the basics and understanding the characteristics of Kendo. A non-refundable material fee of $35 is due to the instructor on the first-class meeting.
Intermediate/Advanced: This class is for both those who have recently graduated from the beginner course and experienced Kendo practitioners who are able to demonstrate proficiency in the fundamentals of Kendo. Instructor approval required prior to enrollment.

Join The Jr. Giants program this summer and engage in a fun noncompetitive league. An excellent way to start exploring the world of robotics. This program brings together the programming concepts with Sphero RVR and Mechanics with Sphero Little Bits. Campers will build fun, hands-on projects as they learn about engineering and computer science concepts through the world of the Sphero RVR. They will operate a robot, program the robot to complete simple tasks, and use the robot with other mechanical systems to accomplish a task.

In this fun-filled program campers will build different types of appliances and tools that are used at home and see the science in action. Participants learn about mechanics, engineering, science concepts and math as they engage in this fun, hands-on immersive learning experience

Kidz Love Soccer: Mommy/Daddy & Me
The fun happens on the field, so don’t just watch from the sidelines! Here is your chance to join in your toddler’s introduction to the world’s most popular sport. You’ll participate in fun, age-appropriate activities, and help your child to develop their motor and socialization skills. A variety of soccer activities are played each week. Adult participation is required.

Little tykes will enjoy running and kicking just like the big kids! Children will have fun and learn the basic techniques of the game while building self-esteem. Chase the ball! Tot-Soccer helps kids learn to be part of a structured group activity without a parent by their side. Realizing this can be difficult for young children, our field-tested, age specific curriculum builds confidence and promotes physical development in a safe, supportive and fun environment. Tot Soccer focuses on helping kids develop their large motor skills through skill demonstrations and entertaining games like Bugs in the House! These games build skill and self-esteem and prepare tots to start running and kicking - just like the big kids! Tot-Soccer classes are 30 minutes long and meet once a week.

A great introduction to competitive soccer, Skillz and Scrimmages teaches advanced skill building such as dribbling, passing and shooting in a team format, as well as an introduction to goaltending. Kids will scrimmage and learn to play together as a team. From defense and mid-field to forward and goalie...kids get exposure to playing every position and have a blast doing it. Appropriate for players of varying skill levels. And...best of all, each participant receives a Kidz Love Soccer jersey! Skillz & Scrimmages classes are 45 minutes long, and meet once a week.

Dance Camp is Back!
Come join Ms. Traci to learn a variety of dance styles, safe dance techniques and body awareness in this fun dance intensive week. Dance Camp is for everyone, from the beginner dancer who wants to learn what it feels like to move their body in rhythm, to the more intermediate/ advanced dancer who wants to build on their strength and dance techniques. Some of the styles of dance that will be taught are ballet, jazz, tap, musical theater, and more. All dancers will get a dance camp shirt!

Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character for a chance to win a prize! Categories include best overall, most creative, and best group/duo. Dark side or rebel scum, all forces will unite for a night of fandom fun!
Get hooked on fishing for life!
Kids will learn basic instruction on knot tying, casting, and fish handling techniques. The lake will be planted with fish for the event. No pre-registration or fee is required, just show up and have fun!
Walk or run, all are welcome!
Themed runs, oversized games, music, giveaways, and a healthy way to kick off your weekend. One registration required per family. Run begins promptly at 5pm.

Camp Newark is back!
Each week features a new theme with action-packed games, exciting activities and crafts, indoor and outdoor play, swim days, and free lunch Fridays. Each week will also offer outside entertainment or in-house activities such as color runs, bounce houses, carnivals, and more!

Our recreation leaders are ready to give your kids an unforgettable summer!
Please note, lunch is not provided. Please send your child with a bagged lunch. Lunch will only be provided every Friday. Free lunch Fridays will be fun lunches such as pizza, BBQ day, breakfast for lunch, etc! Campers will receive a morning snack and an afternoon snack. Campers always remain on site and under the watch of camp staff.

The Newark Swim Lesson Program provides the highest quality of swim instruction available. We look at swim instruction as a necessary life skill and want to make swimming an enjoyable lifelong activity for you and your family. Lessons are tailored to age and skill within a levelsee following page for lesson descriptions for each age group.
Remember not to compare your child’s progress with other swimmers as everyone learns at a different pace. Children are tested on the first day of each session and placed into the appropriate class level. We hope that you enjoy your swimming experience with us and welcome any of your comments or suggestions.

Swim lessons are 25-28 minutes long, except for Adult classes, which will run for 45 minutes. You can sign up for one session or as many sessions as you like (they do not need to be concurrent). This flexible approach allows you the benefit of meeting your family’s schedule.
Refund/Make-Up Policy:
Due to the popularity of our program, we have a strict refund policy. You have 48 hours from the time of registration in which to request a refund (all refunds have a $15 processing fee), or transfer to another time/session (based on class availability). After 48 hours, there are no refunds given.
Transfer may be granted if there is space available. Transfers have a $15 processing fee.
Please note: There are no make-up classes and/ or credits/refunds for any classes missed due to accident, injury, illness, or personal scheduling conflicts. Doctor’s notes will not be accepted.
Registration Deadlines are 72 hours before the session. We will not accept any registrations after the deadline is passed. It is best to register in advance to ensure your class is available.
This interactive class is for parents and children 6 months - 3 years. The instructor will lead the parents through a variety of skills to teach their child. The parent is the primary instructor for their child and is required to be in the water with the child in a swimsuit. Children must wear a swim diaper under their suit. The class is designed to get the child comfortable in the water and to begin to work on entry-level swim readiness skills. Upon successful completion or age advancement the student will move into the preschool lesson program.
Instructor to student ratio is 1:10.
This course offers swimming levels 1-3 for children ages 3-5 yrs. Children work on water exploration and adjustment skills such as bubble blowing, putting face in the water, and floating with support. They will progress to more advanced skill such as front crawl and back stroke. Children who master level 3 or age up will move to a youth level class at the appropriate level to their ability.
Instructor to student ratio is 1:4.
This swim lesson program offers all swimming levels for your child. Levels range from Level 1 in which students start to develop good attitudes and safe practices around the water all the way to Level 5 where students are swimming all the basic strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly).

Instructor to student ratio is 1:4 to 1:8 depending upon level.
1 on 1 individualized instruction for those looking for a more personalized approach. These lessons are completely focused on working on what you want to work on. Every effort is made to schedule the same instructor for each of your sessions; however, we cannot guarantee it.
Instructor to student ratio is 1:1.
This course is designed to help Teens/Adults meet their swim lesson needs from beginner to advanced, focusing on the individual needs of each student. Classes are 45 minutes long.
Instructor to student ratio is 1:6.
8 classes total Monday - Thursday
Session 1: 6/12-6/22
Session 2: 6/26-7/6 (no class on 7/3 and 7/4; fee prorated) Session 3: 7/10-7/20
4 classes total Saturdays
Interested in exploring what it takes to be a lifeguard and swim instructor?
Course includes American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification course; that if passed, will be a valid certification for 2 years. Graduates of this camp are encouraged to apply as a junior lifeguard volunteer for the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center for up to 2 summers after completion of the camp. Included is a program shirt and lunch on Friday.
Prerequisite: Must be able to continuously swim 50 yards of freestyle or breaststroke on the first day of camp.
