Unser New Generations – Independent Indian Filmfestival realisieren wir 2020 als Hybrid-Ausgabe: die Filme laufen im Kino Orfeos Erben und parallel dazu als Onlineausgabe (siehe Seite 18).

Wir freuen uns, dass wir Euch ein Programm mit ausgezeichneten Filmen präsentieren können, obwohl die Akquise der Filme in diesem Jahr nicht gerade einfach war.

In „Mogul Mowgli“ spielt Riz Ahmed („Four Lions“) einen Rapper, der plötzlich schwer erkrankt und eine neue Rolle für sich in der Welt finden muss.

Der tamilische Film „Baaram – Burden“ von Priya Krishnaswamy deckt ein perfides System gezielter Morde an alten Menschen auf, die von ihren Familien nur noch als Belastung gesehen werden. „Aise Hee - Just Like That“ von Kislay zeigt, dass auch die ältere Generation jenseits von gesellschaftlichen Zwängen selbstbewusst neue Wege geht. Regisseurin Maja Meiners stellt ihren Film „Breaking Barriers - The Casteless Collective“ persönlich vor. Wie immer reflektieren die Wettbewerbsfilme des „New Generations Short Film Wallah“ aktuelle gesellschaftliche Fragen. Das aufregende Drama „Moothon“ von Regisseurin Geetu Mohandas gilt als gelungenes Beispiel des Magischen Realismus im indischen Film.

Our New Generations - Independent Indian Film Festival will be realized as a hybrid edition in 2020: films will be shown in the cinema Orfeos Erben and online as well (see page 19).

We are happy to present a program with excellent films, although the acquisition of the films was quite difficult this year.

In "Mogul Mowgli" Riz Ahmed ("Four Lions") plays a rapper who suddenly falls seriously ill and has to find a new role for himself in the world.

The Tamil film "Baaram - Burden" by Priya Krishnaswamy exposes the illegal practice of killing old people, who are considered a burden to their families. "Aise Hee - Just Like That" by Kislay shows that even the older generation is confidently taking new paths beyond social constraints. Director Maja Meiners presents her film "Breaking Barriers - The Casteless Collective" in person. Like always the competition films of the "New Generations Short Film Wallah" reflect a wide range of current social issues. The exciting drama "Moothon" by director Geetu Mohandas is considered a successful example of Magic Realism in Indian film.
