75 Years Ago 1951 B.A Rogers, retired farmer of Uniontown, recently returned from a trip to the West to visit his son Glen and family. He went with them on a motor trip to California and visited his brother, Orville, at Burbank: a brother, Fred and a sister, Mrs. Eva Lady, at Stockton: a brother, Herman, at Richmond, another brother, Dan, at Basin, Wyo.: and a brother, Jasper, of Denver. These people were all the children of a pioneer family of the Petersburg locality.

rural America’s image of “one-room school” has reached a stage that it can now be open tot he public on a regular basis. Mrs. Goldie Weddle said today that visiting hours are 1 to 4. Refurbishing and furnishing the small white frame building located on the campus of Fort Scott Community College has been the project of the Bourbon County Retired Teachers, which Mrs. Weddle represents and American Association of University Women. Authentic furniture and materials have been contributed by interested persons. Mrs. Weddle said there is still a need for desks.

President Bush ordered the nation’s military to “high-alert status.” and vowed to “hunt down and punish those responsible” for the attacks in Washington and New York, where the World Trade Center was devastated with a heavy loss of life. NEW YORK- It was the scene of a nightmare: people on fire jumping in terror from the Trade Towers just before the buildings collapsed. “Everyone was screaming, crying, running- cops, people, firefighters, everyone,” said Mike Smith , a fire marshal from Queens, as he sat by the fountain outside a state courthouse, shortly after the second tower collapsed. “A couple of marshals just picked me up and dragged me down the street.
