flatten This proposal for the south end performing arts school is one that re-evaluates school typology. The organization is one that proposes flatness and does not prioritize one program or discipline. The overall figure of the building is a soft rounded form, but moving inward, the building creates a new set of internal figures and grounds based on orthogonal planning. Rather than giving the assigned dance, theater, and music departments their own wings, the building unites them and makes them indistinguishable.

Programs are given light and are connected by numerous openings in the floor plates which make the building transparent and light.
