The Building Business Forum Looking to Inspire for Another Year

Local entrepreneurs and business owners have the opportunity to network with and learn from North Durham’s leading small business people at the 6th Annual Building Business Forum. The half day conference is designed to inspire and support entrepreneurship while helping local businesses to make strategic connections and find new business development resources. The goal of the event is to help build a stronger rural economy and healthy business environments throughout North Durham.

This year, the event is hosted by the Township of Scugog at the Blackstock Recreation Complex (3340 Church St., Blackstock, ON). It is taking place on Wednesday, October 11th from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme of the event is “Making it on Main Street” with the hope of inspiring all types of businesses with success stories of small but mighty business owners who are showing what it takes to make it on main street.

“We hope that we can encourage people to start companies or grow their businesses by listening to local success stories and showcasing successful businesses”, says Nancy Rutherford, Manager, Economic Development at the Region of Durham and one of the forum coordinators. “We know that when we bring local entrepreneurs and business people together exciting ideas are generated. The connections people make when networking really help support them with their day-to-day business decisions.”

The We C.A.R.E (Create, Attract, Retain and Expand) for Business Tradeshow will be back again this year featuring key business resource organizations and community stakeholders who support entrepreneurship and small business. New this year, the event will feature Ignite Sessions, facilitated networking opportunities, and an area for businesses to advertise their products and services.
