to what’s new in the industry, and always led by premium brand and best practice. For this our first issue, our theme focus is on diagnostics – looking at Bosch and Hella Gutmann Solutions, and ways to make sure these tools are as affordable to the garage as they are essential.

Our next edition will be out in the (hopefully) hotter months, and we’ll be looking at the ins-and-outs of air conditioning. Once the preserve of prestige brands it is now commonplace at every level, and as such has become a part of our everyday working lives in the motor trade.

The DCU 100 is a portable, robust 10-inch tablet PC with touch screen which has been specially developed for workshop use. It controls the ESI[tronic] 2.0 testing and diagnosing system using the Bosch KTS series modules and is compatible with the Windows 10 operating system.

Bosch KTS560/590

Since 2009, the Euro 5/6 Standard requires vehicle manufacturers to make their technical repair information on their online portals available to independent workshops and also enable the reprogramming of control units. Vehicle manufacturers must therefore provide both di-

agnostic, service, repair and maintenance information.

The new KTS generation from Bosch is equipped with what is known as a PassThru interface which allows access and reprogramming of the online portals of vehicle manufacturers. Already 14 vehicle brands are supported by the new KTS generation using PassThru including Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover among others. Bosch sets standards not only with PassThru, but in the field of Ethernet.
