Green Army, welcome to RAC Arena for today’s Round 10 Suncorp Super Netball clash against the NSW Swifts.
Last time we were here, you helped deliver the Club’s biggest ever Regular Season Home Crowd! Thank you for your continued support and we know today will be another massive turnout from our Green Army!Over the past two weeks, we delivered a gritty performance to get the points on the Sunshine Coast Lightning in one of our best wins during my time with the Club.
Securing that win on the road was massively important in the context of the season, where the battle for finals spots is heating up.
Last week our performance against the Thunderbirds in Adelaide was not anywhere near our Fever standards. We’ve reviewed the game, worked hard on the training court and we are ready for the challenge we face in front of us this week against the fifth-placed Swifts.
This week, we welcome Briony Akle, Paige Hadley, Maddy Proud and the NSW Swifts to RAC Arena and we are all
looking forward to experiencing this fiery clash.
Both teams are on the rebound this week, so we are expecting a hard fought battle as the season starts to head towards the business end.
We know the dangers the Swifts pose all over the court with the likes of Helen Housby, Paige Hadley and Sarah Klau, all internationals who know how to play the game at the highest level.
But I am extremely confident that our international experienced Fever stars have what it takes to match them and more.
Sunday Aryang has been in career best form and has become a real leader around our team. Her performance against Housby earlier in the season has simply amazing.
Kelsey Browne’s speed, energy and experience in the midcourt has provided so much for us in her first season in Green.
While Jhaniele Fiowler-Nembhard is the best in the world, she remains committed and determined to get better. Her ability to shoot from the supershot arc this season has added an extra dimension to her already brilliant game.
There are no easy games in SSN and today will be no different, so make sure you get right behind our team, make lots of noise and let’s attack another win at our Green Fortress.

Fever want to bounce back swiftly
West Coast Fever will look to get bounce back when they take on the NSW Swifts at RAC on Sunday.
Fever went down to the Adelaide Thunderbirds during Round Nine, their second loss for the season which has pushed them down to second place on the ladder.
In a match controlled by the Thunderbirds, Fever just couldn’t fight their way back into match, after a high number of turn overs and missed super shot opportunities allowed the hosts to secure an 18-goal win.
The Swifts are also coming off a loss, going down to the Lightning by two goals in the final seconds of the game at Ken Rosewell Arena.
Last time the two sides faced off, Fever put on a punishing performance leaving Sydney with the four premiership points and a 16-goal win.
Head-to-Head
RAC Arena will be witness to a battle of the International Stars as Fever’s Sunday Aryang and Fran Williams looks to curtail the super shot powers of Helen Housby, who is the league leader, averaging just under six super shots per match. Aryang kept Housby to just three goals in their previous meeting and the match-up again proves to be a decisive battle.

The Swifts were bolstered by the return of Maddy Proud to the starting seven last week and this will mean an electric mid court battle with Kelsey Browne looms.
Swifts Wing Attack Paige Hadley will attempt to work through the defensive skills of Captain Jess Anstiss, while Allie Smith tries to hold down Alice Teague-Neeld’s feeding abilities.
Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner will have the difficult job of trying to limit the influence of Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard in goals. Fowler-Nembhard leads the league for goals (494) and throw in her improving prowess from the two-goal range she poses as a key pillar for Fever to bounce back.
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the performance against the Thunderbirds was unacceptable and not to Fever’s standards.
“We need to look at the next seven days to make sure that we really show up on Sunday against the Swifts and play some of our best netball, doing the basic things really well,” Ryan said.
“We know we need to be at our very best on Sunday to make sure we show up for the Green Army and give them plenty to cheer about across the game.”
The West Coast Fever Reserves produced when the game was on the line, securing a one-goal win over the Thunderbird Futures in Adelaide on Sunday.
Fever controlled the first half, leading by seven at the main break before the Thunderbirds fought back in the third quarter.
The sides started the last quarter all square and Fever adjusted their defensive strategy in the final super shot period, which resulted in some gain possession and helped the team come away with a thrilling win.
The Reserves line-up was boosted by the selection of Fever athletes Jordan Cransberg and Olivia Wilkinson, who combined strongly to lead the attack end.
Emma Putt and Game MVP Zoe Cransberg combined well with Wilkinson and Jordan to have a high conversion rate in the first half.
Fever athlete Ruth Aryang also enjoyed an enthralling battle with Thunderbird athlete and Origin Diamonds camp invitee Lucy Austin in Fever’s defensive circle.
The Fever Reserves now face the Swifts at the Gold Netball Centre on Sunday night.

West Coast Fever has suffered their second defeat of the season going down to the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Adelaide 68 to 50.
Olivia Wilkinson relished her first chance to start in 2024 and along with Kelsey Browne and Alice TeagueNeeld provided great energy for Fever.
A crucial deflection and pickup from Kadie-Ann Dehaney and Browne allowed Fever to level scores at the beginning of the Power Five.
Three turnovers in the super shot period allowed the Thunderbirds to build a five-goal lead at the first break.
The second quarter was controlled by the Thunderbirds as they built a 12-goal lead at the start of Power Five off the back of defensive pressure and Fever turnovers.
Coach Dan Ryan made changes to the line up with Shanice Beckford, Jordan Cransberg and Fran Williams all entering the court as he sought to change the momentum of the game.
By half time the Thunderbirds led by 15 goals as three missed Fever super shots allowed the home team to
increase their advantage.
A late Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard super shot matched one scored earlier by Lauren Frew.
Fever swung the changes at half time as Teague-Neeld moved to Goal Attack, Browne to Wing Attack and Jess Anstiss into Centre. Sunday Aryang moved up to Wing Defence, while Williams and Dehaney rounded out the seven.
The lead got out to 18 at one stage before Fever started to slowly eat into the deficit. Trailing by 14 at the start of Power Five before two Teague-Neeld super shots helped get the visitors within 10 at the final change as they won the quarter 17-12.
The battle intensified early in the last as Fever looked to chase down the Thunderbirds.
By the Power Five, the home side lead by 15 goals and it was too much to run down. Despite another super shot from Fowler-Nembhard, the Thunderbirds controlled the final five minutes.
West Coast Fever put on a punishing performance against the Swifts in Sydney, defeating the side by 16 goals and leaving Fever undefeated.
Quarter by Quarter
The match up started as an absolute nail biter, both squads trading goals for the first 10 minutes in a tense battle.
Fever’s mid court had an outstanding start to the game, Kelsey Browne’s 10 feeds, Alice Teague-Neeld’s nine and captain Jess Anstiss’s incredible intercept made their teammates jobs on either end that bit easier.
The combination of Sunday Aryang’s pressure in the goal circle and Kadie-Ann Dehaney’s quick hands resulted in four deflections and a rebound from the pair.
Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard’s long reach was critical in goals, a super shot and a 94% accuracy mixed with Shanice Beckford’s two super shot’s saw Fever run away with the lead by quarter time.
The Swifts came out swinging in the second quarter, making the girls in green work that bit harder after their strong start.
Fran Williams entered the court with a bang, taking a huge deflection and turning the ball over, consistently putting pressure on Sam Wallace-Joseph and fellow England Rose Helen Housby in goals.
Aryang’s awareness of the ball was incredibly impressive, taking a deflection from a distance to round out her three from the quarter.
Beckford’s second super shot for the quarter put Fever in front by one at half-time.
Browne was on fire in the third quarter, reading her teammates movements and ushering her 11 feeds into the goals.
Aryang seemed to be flying throughout the match, constantly aware of the ball and its movements, both in the goal circle and throughout the court.
Fever slowed down the chaotic nature of the second quarter, listening to Head Coach Dan Ryan’s call to once again control their movements, taking back the game.
Fever started their last quarter with the intent to win, with quick and solid movements and no room for mistakes.
Browne’s game just kept getting better and better with two deflections, four goal assists and seven feeds. Matched by none other than Anstiss with a deflection, and 5 goal assists by Teague-Neeld.
Aryang ended her game with a huge 11 deflections, four of those in the last quarter. She played a massive role in shutting down the shooting capabilities of Housby who only managed an unheard of three goals against Fever’s defensive unit.
Fowler-Nembhard came out for a fourth week and demonstrated just how good she really is with a 98% shooting accuracy.
