FROM THE COACH

With two one-goal wins on the board against the Vixens and Giants to kick start our season, we are looking forward to being back on our home court today, ready to fight for our third consecutive win.

Both our matches so far, have been absolute blockbusters and the overall quality of netball being played has been great to see. I’ve really enjoyed watching how composed and poised the players have been under such enormous pressure to secure those wins. It’s a great sign for things to come, especially this early in the season.

Round 1 was a special moment for the team, our first time back on RAC Arena in front of the Green Army since the premiership win last year. It was also the first-time new recruit Kim Jenner stepped on court in the green dress. It’s great to now add Kim into the club’s history as she officially becomes Fever player 122.

Round 2 was also an amazing result for the team! How about that match winning intercept in the final seconds by Jess Anstiss! That’s why she’s our vice-captain. When something needs to be done, she finds a way. Speaking of finding a way, Jhaniele Fowler is in ominous form in goal with two 100 per cent shooting games so far. But as J says, there’s always room for improvement!

So that brings us here today as we take on the Collingwood Magpies and we do need to step up. The Magpies have had a great start to the season and are playing some brilliant netball. They are already showing they will be one of the real contenders this year. To beat them, we are going to have to be at the top of our game.

I’d like to welcome the Pies to Perth, led by Head Coach, Nicole Richardson and Co-Captains, Geva Mentor and Ash Brazil. We look forward to a hotly contested, fast paced game of netball today. Whatever happens, it’s going to be a great contest.

So GREEN ARMY, it’s game time! Today is going to be an absolute arm wrestle. So, get behind us, believe in us and let’s turn RAC Arena into our Fortress

Go Fever!
