There are many ways to show appreciation for all the good things someone has done for you, and the most common is simply to say “thank you” – a heartfelt token of gratitude.
Other ways to express this include saying, “I sincerely appreciate”, “I’m most grateful”, “Please accept my deepest gratitude”, “I’m forever indebted”, and “many thanks” – and this is exactly what we are echoing to you, our valued Evotel clients.
Had it not been for you, we wouldn’t have achieved all our goals today. Rated among the best Fibre-to-the-Home network operators in the country, this achievement is a direct result of your unwavering support.
When I first joined Evotel, I didn’t fully grasp the seriousness and importance of clients until CEO Albert Oosthuysen and Chief of Staff Nicholas Thipe consistently reminded us, as employees, of their significance.
I was once an ordinary paying client like you, but being on the inside has taught me a lot about the principle that “the client is always right!”
By the way, I’m still billed for my account even as an employee, and I’m not complaining. This allows me to experience firsthand what our clients go through, placing me in the same bubble as you – and I love this approach. It works.
It has been a long and winding road this year, and we’ve come to value engaging with our clients, not only through our social media pages but also via our digital magazine. This platform highlights and documents the excellent work Evotel is doing beyond providing the best fibre internet to your home.
To be honest, this company cannot function without you. You are the engine room of Evotel. Your consistent payment of your monthly accounts keeps us afloat, and we, in turn, work tirelessly to ensure you get your money’s worth.
We’ve made it our mission to ensure that every cent you spend on Evotel fibre is justified by the quality of service and technology we provide.
Looking ahead to 2025, we must brace ourselves for a challenging yet exciting year. I am optimistic that we will continue to grow our client base, and many service providers have already shown interest in partnering with us.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are vital to Evotel’s success. Their dedication to the cause has transformed lives and made us incredibly proud. We hope to strengthen these partnerships even further in 2025.
In the next edition, I will provide a detailed explanation of the relationship between ISPs and Fibre Network Operators (FNOs) and what it means for you.
As I sign off, I encourage everyone to spend quality time at home with family and friends during the festive season. It certainly won’t be boring like the 1990s!
With fibre internet, you can do anything – from browsing the web all day to streaming movies, sport, documentaries, and YouTube. Unlimited fibre with the fastest speeds in the southern hemisphere – what more could you ask for?
To all our valued clients, I wish you a prosperous 2025. Until January 2025 – Cheers!
STAFF GET RECOGNISED FOR THEIR HARD WORK THIS YEAR!
Before the start of every year, everyone—yes, everyone—has dreams and aspirations, often referred to as “resolutions” for the new year.
When 2024 began, many of our employees set out with the goal of being the best the company had ever seen. However, while some managed to close the year with a well-deserved token of appreciation in hand, others, unfortunately, did not.
For those hardworking individuals lucky enough to win these end-of-year awards, their achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of their colleagues. At Evotel, we work as a team and win as a team.
In this space, we’re excited to share the highlights of what transpired during the Evotel Endof-the-Year Awards.
MAN OF FEW WORDS STEALS THE SHOW!
Employee of the month for November
Slayde Senna Kruis is the kind of employee who hops from one department to another, always in good faith, volunteering his service to colleagues. It’s no wonder he was voted Employee of the Month for November, heading into December.
Born and bred in Edenvale, Johannesburg, the shy Slayde says he enjoys helping his colleagues because he loves his job, not to mention the company, Evotel, where he cut his teeth as an employee just over two years ago.
Having studied Marketing and Fashion Buying, the hardworking Slayde says he saw the need to join Evotel in September 2022 after spending a year at home looking for a job following his graduation in 2021 from Lisof, now known as Stadio Higher Education.
He was thrilled to land under the guidance of Jonathan de Lange, Evotel’s Social Media Manager, who taught him everything he needed to know about the telecommunications industry, where dealing with both irate and happy clients is part of the daily routine.
Handling angry clients can discourage many, but Slayde has developed thick skin and remains steadfast in pursuing his dreams.
Joining the marketing team was the cherry on top because it was the job he had been anticipating while spending months studying online during the Covid-19 years.
“Where I live, the area is under Evotel fibre, which made it easy for me to study with unlimited internet available,” said Slayde, proudly donning his traditional black Evotel colours.
He admits his life essentially revolves around Evotel. “I am enjoying my job. Even though marketing is busy, I just cannot say no to anyone in the office who asks for help—I lend a helping hand to everyone.
“When I started in 2022 under Jonathan, I knew I had to work hard to climb the ladder. I did that for one year while assisting Nadia (Smith, Marketing Manager) with events and collateral since she was a one-person team.
“Eventually, when a position opened in Nadia’s department, I submitted my CV as second designer and got the job. I started as Marketing Assistant/Designer under Nadia. Patience is a virtue.
“I’m still involved in social media posts and attending Evotel events—we are a team, like I said. I try to do everything, learn everything, and be involved.”
With Head of Marketing Richard Genlloud expanding the department, Slayde says he’s thrilled because it now feels like a “marketing agency.”
“The growth of the department is working well,” he says. “I enjoy working with people. I try to please everyone. I’m handling many responsibilities, which is why I got Employee of the Month, thanks to my colleagues who believe in me. I’m very proud after having spent this time here.”
He acknowledges that his growth at Evotel isn’t limited, as his bosses, Genlloud and Smith, encourage him to learn new skills to grow further.
“I am willing to train and study further,” he says. “They want me to develop my skills, and I also want to add more skills to my CV. They (Genlloud and Smith) don’t want me to remain stagnant.”
His dedication has cost Slayde his Christmas break, as he’ll be on duty assisting clients. However, he says this won’t dampen his spirit, especially since he’ll be working from home.
“My braai stand will be close to my laptop,” he says with a broad smile.
“Traditionally, my family would spend Christmas away, like in Cape Town or Hartebeespoort. Now that work has changed those plans, I’ll use what I have (the internet) to find entertainment.”
His Christmas message to the Evotel family is: “Stay home and stream movies, sport, and documentaries.
Don’t drink and drive, and behave like you’re on lockdown—but without isolation, so you can invite friends and family. Just be calm.”
