WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF OUR DREAM!

Net Nine Nine has kicked off the year on a very positive note.
As we begin the year, there are three things that stand out and make us proud:
All staff members returned to work from their holiday period unscathed.
Our Class of 2025 matriculants made history by achieving the highest percentage of Grade 12 learners to pass with university entrance—88% to be exact—which is 0.7% higher than in 2024.
Lastly, we kicked off the year with a live interview on The Clement Manyathela Show on Radio 702, where we spoke about the importance of setting career goals.
On the World of Work segment, I explained why planning ahead is so important.
As we step into the new year, I believe that Net Nine Nine holds not only a responsibility, but also a rare opportunity to go beyond growth as a fibre network operator.
The plan to continue setting new records is not only ambitious, but necessary in a country where access to reliable internet still determines who can fully participate in the economy, education, and society.
Expanding the number of homes reached is a key step towards ensuring digital inclusion. Every new connection represents a household that can access information, education, job opportunities, and essential services.
Growth, in this sense, is not only measured in kilometres of fibre laid, but in the real impact felt by families and communities.
The commitment to connect 1 000 schools with free fibre stands out as the most powerful goal, and we are determined to push harder this year to connect as many schools as possible to the network.
Education remains the strongest tool for changing lives, and in the modern world, quality education is impossible without connectivity.
By giving schools free access to fibre, Net Nine Nine is investing directly in the future of learners, teachers, and the broader community.
It is a long-term investment whose benefits will be felt for generations to come. Consider the top four provinces—Kwazulu-Natal (90.6%), Free State (89.33%), Gauteng (89.06%), and North West (88.49%)—all of which have network coverage from us.
Ultimately, these plans reflect a vision that goes beyond profit.
They reflect a desire to uplift people, reduce inequality, and create opportunities where none existed before. If implemented with consistency and purpose, the new year can truly mark a turning point in changing lives through connectivity.

WOMAN ENTREPRENEUR LEADS
FIBRE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT!
Net Nine Nine continues to demonstrate its commitment to inclusive growth, local empowerment, and infrastructure excellence through its latest fibre rollout in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.
This project is proudly driven in part by a dynamic woman entrepreneur, Wandile Nkumane, whose leadership is helping reshape South Africa’s digital landscape.
Born and raised in Soweto, she co-founded her fibre infrastructure company, TOGIT, with her brother, who leads the technical division while she manages operations.
According to Nkumane, their journey into the fibre industry began in 2020 during the COVID-19 period, when they entered the market as subcontractors.
However, their early experience—including completing more than 600 home connections on a project that went partially unpaid—became what she describes as “school fee”, shaping their resilience, expertise, and determination to build a reputable business founded on integrity and technical excellence.
Over the years, the company has evolved into a highly capable turnkey service provider, building strong technical credentials across several fibre network operators.
Her operational leadership spans daily site management, workforce coordination, safety compliance, technical oversight, and delivery assurance.
Recognising the importance of safety and compliance in high-pressure infrastructure environments, she also pursued formal safety training and extended this knowledge to equip her teams.

Working in a traditionally male-dominated industry has never deterred her; instead, competence, knowledge, and professionalism have consistently earned her respect on site.
“In any industry, respect is earned when people see that you understand your work,” explained the vivacious Nkumane.
“This sector is fast-paced and demanding; you constantly have to think ahead, manage pressure, and deliver quality. But the results are incredibly rewarding.”
Beyond infrastructure delivery, her passion lies in community upliftment.

BREAKING BARRIERS IN BROADBAND! WOMAN IN
LEADERSHIP!
During project implementation, her team actively trains interested local workers, equipping them with technical skills that extend beyond temporary employment.
Many of these trained individuals are later retained to support ongoing maintenance, ensuring sustainability and local economic participation.
For her, witnessing a network go live is more than a technical milestone—it represents change, opportunity, and inclusion.
“Communities that were once disadvantaged are now gaining access to the same connectivity long available in suburbs. Being part of that transformation is powerful,” she says. She also advocates for more women to enter the fibre and telecommunications industry, noting that many already play influential roles behind the scenes.
“Gone are the days of limitation. The industry is open, and women are proving their capability every day.”
Net Nine Nine celebrates her contribution as a testament to the strength of local partnerships, gender inclusion in infrastructure development, and the power of resilient entrepreneurship.
Through leaders like her, the company continues to advance its mission of expanding reliable, world-class connectivity while empowering communities and building meaningful economic participation across South Africa.

NEW FIBRE GIANTS
NET99 SHOWING OPPOSITION A CLEAN PAIR OF HEELS!
South Africa’s fastest-growing fibre network operator (FNO) quietly slipped into the country’s top 10 in 2025, based on the number of homes connected. The CYNK Group’s Net Nine Nine has expanded its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) coverage to 300 000 homes.
The company, founded by CYNK Group CEO Albert Oosthuysen and Chief of Staff Nicholas Thipe, has been in operation for over five years. However, it ramped up rollouts in 2025, while more established major FNOs slowed their expansions, MyBroadband reported in December last year.
Net Nine Nine expanded its network to cover areas in eight of South Africa’s nine provinces during the year, with plans to make further inroads into the Western Cape.
The company is targeting lower-income and emerging middle-class markets with three uncapped packages available on a month-to-month basis, all with free installation.
The most affordable option, priced at R379, supports download speeds of up to 20 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10 Mbps, connecting up to five devices.
The R499 mid-level package delivers symmetrical 50 Mbps speeds, while the R699 top-tier package boasts symmetrical speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
The company has 19 stores where customers can learn more about FTTH, sign up for Net Nine Nine’s products, and receive after-sales support.
Several of these stores are located in townships or smaller towns, including Boitekong, Botshabelo, GaRankuwa, Hammanskraal, Westonaria, and Umlazi.

KGOSI AND NET99 CHANGE LIVES IN KAGISO!
Over the past few years, Nkosinathi “Kgosi” Khumalo has led therapy-based programmes aimed at supporting children from underprivileged backgrounds, and 2025 was no different as his generous efforts continued in Kagiso.
The initiative, sponsored by Net Nine Nine, uses creative workshops, engagement activities, and safe spaces to help children express themselves, heal emotionally, and rediscover joy.
What began as a small idea rooted in giving back has grown into a large-scale community movement in an area where opportunities are often limited and childhood hardships are common.
Khumalo, also known as Kgaka—which translates to Guineafowl in Kagiso, where he was born and raised—is quietly using creativity, compassion, and technology to change young lives.
KAGISO’S BEACON OF HOPE BLESSES THE NEEDY!
Known to many as a Fine artist and digital creative, Khumalo has become a beacon of hope for hundreds of disadvantaged children through his annual Christmas charity initiative and year-long therapy through art kids programme.
As he proudly describes his work, Khumalo said: “You don’t have to fix everything. You just have to do something. That hungry child doesn’t need a miracle; they need one meal. That struggling mother doesn’t need thousands; she needs one chance. When you give to our charity event, 100% goes directly to them. No fancy offices. No executive bonuses. Just real help for real people.”
The programme reached a powerful milestone in December 2025, culminating in a vibrant Christmas charity event held on 20 December.
The celebration followed two intensive workshop days on 18 and 19 December, during which children participated in structured activities designed to uplift, educate, and inspire them.
REMARKABLE
ACHIEVEMENT BY OVER 2230 CHILDREN!
According to Khumalo, a total of 2 230 children attended the programme—a remarkable achievement made possible with the support of sponsor Net Nine Nine.
For many of these children, it was more than just a festive gathering; it was an experience of care, dignity, and belonging.
“The whole idea was to give back to the kids,” Khumalo explained.
“Most of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We wanted to make sure they felt seen, supported, and celebrated. The Christmas event delivered exactly that. Children received clothing, Christmas presents, and essential items.”
BEYOND
GIFTS AND FESTIVITIES, THE PROGRAMME CARRIED PURPOSE!
Throughout the workshops, Khumalo and his team ran several therapy-focused activities that encouraged confidence, emotional expression, and peer support. For many children, it was the first time they had access to such nurturing attention.

“I remember where I come from,” he said while speaking from his home, where his visual studio is located on Kagiso’s main road, Kagiso Avenue, leading up to the shopping mall.
“That’s why this programme matters so much to me.” With gifts in hand and smiles on their faces, the children returned home— a testament to the 2025 programme’s success and proof that compassion, combined with action, can transform lives.

CLIENTS VALUED AND HONOURED!
ELDERLY AND NEEDY FEEL NET99’S WARMTH!
The year 2025 was a blessing for Net Nine Nine, filled with love and support shared throughout the year. Clients reaffirmed their loyalty to the brand, while the fibre network operator continued to service them with diligence, bringing the year to a close with resounding hurrahs.
As the year drew to an end, and in a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, South Africa’s trusted fibre service provider across eight provinces shared the love with those in need, ensuring that everyone could enjoy the festive season with food on the table.
Throughout the year, Net Nine Nine remained a pillar of strength, connecting South Africans from all walks of life.

The popular appreciation song “Re ya Mo Leboga”, a Sesotho hymn loosely translated as “We are appreciative of what we have,” was sung by excited recipients as they collected festive goodies in Westonaria, on the West Rand of Johannesburg, with buckets filled with love held aloft.
The Westonaria community hall came alive with songs of appreciation and joy as the elderly and needy celebrated Net Nine Nine’s generous gesture of sharing festive goodies. The Net Nine Nine team joined in the dancing as the sharing of love continued unabated.
To emphasise that the Westonaria festivities were no fluke, Botleng in Delmas was another site of giving, where gifts were shared with community members at the Net Nine Nine store in the local shopping mall.
Net Nine Nine reached out to the elderly and the needy in Westonaria and Botleng, Delmas, spreading festive cheer and much-needed assistance to some of the community’s most vulnerable members.
With smiles, conversation, and compassion at the centre of the initiative, the Net Nine Nine team distributed food parcels and essential household items to elderly residents, many of whom rely on community support during the festive season.
For the recipients, the gesture was more than material assistance; it served as a reminder that they are seen, valued, and remembered.
For many elderly residents, the visit brought comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging during a season that can often feel lonely.

POWERED BY PURPOSEFUL PARTNERSHIPS!

A group of twelve determined women is gearing up for an unprecedented endurance challenge as they prepare to attempt a 2 141 km relay run from Musina’s Beitbridge to Cape Agulhas—an initiative believed to be the first of its kind globally.
The race, known as Cape2Care, is scheduled to begin in the early hours of 25 February, with the team expected to arrive in Cape Agulhas on 8 March, completing the journey in just 11 days.
Beyond the physical feat, Cape2Care carries a powerful humanitarian mission: raising funds to support vulnerable children across South Africa through the Dynamic Women for Children programme, which has been building safety nets for at-risk children for the past 18 years.
On Saturday, 17 January 2026, Net Nine Nine joined the team during a trial run, as the women conducted an official Cape2Care test run in Kameelfontein, Pretoria, near KwaMhlanga.
According to team member Michelle van Biljon, the session was designed to test logistics, security, medical support, and relay transitions—critical components of a road run that will continue uninterrupted, day and night.
“We were testing the logistics and the transitions. Because we’re running in a relay format, we’re divided into two teams of six—the Sunrise Team and the Sunset Team,” Michelle explained to Net Nine Nine. The Sunrise Team will run from midnight to midday, while the Sunset Team takes over from midday to midnight.

Each runner covers two kilometres in under 12 minutes before handing over to the next teammate, ensuring a continuous forward motion throughout the 11-day journey—the same approach used during the test run, where traffic was briefly affected but managed without major disruptions.
While one team is on the road, the other travels ahead to the next handover town to rest, eat, and prepare for the next shift—a strategy carefully designed to preserve both physical strength and mental focus.
Michelle emphasised that fuelling is one of the most complex aspects of the challenge.
“You don’t just drink water. Fuelling is very important. Every lady’s body reacts differently, so each runner is responsible for her own snacking and energy management,” she explained.
While the Sunrise Team receives a proper lunch and the Sunset Team a proper breakfast, runners fuel

A LINE OF HOPE ACROSS MZANSI!
continuously according to their individual needs—a strategy refined through multiple test runs, including two 24-hour simulations, a 48-hour run from Musina to Pretoria, and, most recently, the Kameelfontein trial.
“The feedback from the ladies has been very positive. After all the test runs, we feel ready. The transitions worked well, the running times were good. Now it’s just final logistics,” Michelle said.
“Our big vision is to draw a line of hope and inspiration from Beitbridge all the way to Cape Agulhas. It’s about showing what’s possible when women come together for children.”
Funds raised through Cape2Care will be used to expand the Dynamic Women for Children model— currently operating in Pretoria and Kameelfontein— to communities across South Africa, particularly where systems and adults have failed to protect children.
The ambitious project is made possible through major sponsorship from Net Nine Nine, whose support has been instrumental in turning the vision into reality.
“Our partnership with Net Nine Nine made this project feasible. They are helping us roll out this journey, and we are beyond grateful,” Michelle said.
The partnership, she added, was born from shared values:
“They spoke about bringing light through fibre and internet across South Africa. It aligned perfectly with our vision of bringing light and hope to children.”
According to the team’s research, no such relay run has ever been completed before. Cape2Care will therefore not be breaking a record but setting one. The run is currently in the process of being formally registered as a world record attempt.
As the countdown continues, the women are finalising accommodation, security, medical support, and sponsor partnerships while continuing strength training ahead of departure to Musina on 24 February.
“We’re doing this to create hope, inspire South Africans, and empower children—because when they are protected, families and communities follow.”
The running crew comprises: Michelle van Biljon, Marlien Cronje, Nicole Fish, Magda Nunes, Sulneri de Jager, Lee de Lange, Rikalize Vosloo, Candis Lubbe, Danielle Lubbe, Bukiwe Thwala, Lindsey Fourie, and Tammy Meier.
Keep monitoring Net Nine Nine social media pages for updates on the Cape2Care run, or visit www. dwfc.org.za to donate to the cause.
