ATHENS 2025

These two piano pieces have a dreamy, romantic character, similar to Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairytales, under the same title. The first piece, The Snow Queen, was written during New Year, while recovering from flu at home, a few days after attending a ballet performance based on the same story. The second one, titled The Most Beautiful Rose in the World, uses material from a piano improvisation, recorded privately a few years ago, before even reading the corresponding fairy tale. Somehow though, I felt that the circular form of the music with its recurring central love theme, evokes the atmosphere of Andersen's story, whilst offering a satisfying conclusion to the present collection. Both pieces are dedicated to my music penfriend, Vasilisa Bogorodskaya, in return for her generous support and masterly pianistic interpretations of my music.
