The trio for Violin – Cello and Piano, titled I Love the Lord (2022), was prompted by my friend and principal cellist of the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, Eugen Mantu. The initial melody was already in existence in the form of a duet under the same title for Cello and Harp, composed only a few weeks earlier; both pieces are based on a music-setting of Psalm 116:1-2.
The trio received its first performance by ‘Trio Balticum’, on August 1st 2022, at the Barfüßerkirche, Erfurt, followed shortly by an equally succesful presentation at Rathaus Festaal (3.08). The recording that took place at Predigerkirche on August 5th, 2022, was subsequently released by Donemus Records.
