Ringing Out the Old & Bringing in the New

I believe we can all agree that the past year, 2020, was a challenging year filled with unprecedented experiences. I also agree. I look forward to seeing 2020 in my rearview mirror.

We certainly gained a lot of experience and wisdom through the life lessons we lived through in 2020.

Do you remember near the end of 2019, we were excited about the New Year and the new decade?

Che-we-Kwe-Ben. She “Walked On” November 30. Her Earth Journey ending was a challenge, although her final hours were peaceful. She taught me about living and dying.

As we begin the transition from 2020 into 2021, I have to say that as I turn my thoughts and attention to the coming New Year I am more reflective, grateful, and tentative.

Now, Paul and I are beginning that Earth Journey ending with his Mom, Renate. Our mothers gave us two weeks between their end journeys. We support and love Renate in her last experiences. On December 19, Renate “Walked On”. I wonder how I am to look forward to the New Year when the ending energy is so profound.

As I write this editorial, it is the middle of December. I am in the midst of grief for my Mom,

Even though I am in grief, I still have Star Nations Organization to nurture and attend to with help from my Executive Team. I decided to create two special editions for Star Nations Magazine for January and February. These special issues will give me a much-needed break to grieve and remind us that we have the wisdom to share about new beginnings.

Although I am eyebrow deep in the energy of endings, I do remember in my heart to be

grateful for all of my experiences.

I also need to remember to ask for help from my Spiritual Team (all those in spirit) to assist me with my soul growth.

I remember that as a spirit, we experience both the physical and non-physical experiences in a spiral and a circle. The circle has no beginning or end; that is our immortal spirit/soul. Our physical life is experienced in a spiral motion with a distinct beginning with ascending energy, where the ending is actually infinite.

The ascending spiral is a good metaphor for the January and February Star Nations Magazine issues’ energy. All of the writers share their life experiences, knowledge, and wisdom with our readers. With assistance from our layout specialists, ElfElm Publishing, we will mine for gold in our past five years of issues. We will select from past articles to create a unique issue of archived knowledge and wisdom to assist our readers to to have gratitude for the past

years as we prepare for the New Year.

I believe we need to remember all of the life lessons we have learned from the past years, as this wisdom and knowledge will help us prepare for unprecedented experiences in the coming year. Did you know that according to astrology, we will begin experiencing the Age of Aquarius energies in our physical world in 2021?

All of the articles, in this issue of Star Nations Magazine, are about embracing the energies of a New Year while being grateful for the past year. The cover image is our nod to the embrace of the new and the articles are from the last 5 years of January issue articles. This issue is in honor of the wisdom from within our archive.

On a more personal note, I would like to share my gratitude for all of the Star Nations community members who prayed, sent love, and support to my family

In this issue of Star Nations Magazine, you’ll find articles about embracing the energies of a New Year while being grateful for the past year. This issue is in honor of the wisdom from within our archive. and me during my Mom’s hospice time. We could feel the love surrounding us and I must say, I tapped into that loving energy on many occasions when I felt my energy dipping.

All the great mystics, ­avatars and holy ones are here to anchor the Uncreated Light for humanity to play out their mission, to be a light in the Universe. Whether you work with a guru or a priest, a Lakota holy person or a Quero shaman, a monk of Mount Athos or a QiGong master — no matter — these individuals all over the world, some quiet, some walking amongst you, have come to bring in the Uncreated Light for the earth and all of her inhabitants.

What is our role? It is to become pure vessels and luminous bodies of Divine Light – the Uncreated Light, the Source of All that is.

In a spiritual path one finds a practice that feels good, that makes you happy, that gives you guidance. These paths have practices that bring peace and balance.

Spiritual practices are about shedding away the parts that no longer serve us, that block us from feeling the Light. The practice or movement

of removing these obstacles is best known by the term “healing.”

Healing is self-examination and emotional release – to correct a situation that causes distress.

Healing is concerned with one’s self to regain the sense of loss of interconnections and make whole for your benefit and the good of the community – self-transformation. As Gandhi said, “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.

As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him…”

Presently, we are witnessing a reawakening and reconnecting of the self to feel and attune to the energetic world. Many are taking the path to healing. Personal healing takes a dedication and perseverance.

How often have you heard that healing is each person’s birthright and that everyone has the capacity to heal? When one chooses the path to heal, an opportunity opens to re-­evaluate the meaning of life. To heal is to bring into sharper focus the

situation that creates distress, not as a helpless victim, but rather as an empowered participant. The great teachers do not accept passivity from those who are seeking healing. Personal healing or growth requires discipline in spiritual practices and the proverb “Know yourself” will become clear.

There are too numerous paths of healing to mention all.

Energy healings are methods of working with Divine Light and Love. Some are ancient and others have surfaced from individual desire to understand energy healing. In Earth history, there are references from many cultures to the Divine Light and Love actively involved in human experiences.

Many of these energy techniques have been on Earth for a long time; however, awareness was not always open to exploration of these healing energies. In the more recent past, there has been a reintroduction of these techniques into the world, and they have been openly and lovingly received.

The physical world we live in is a world of matter composed of energy. As souls, we are energy in a physical dimension. Therefore, this matter that we are and that we live in can be affected by energy. Pure energy for healing purposes has been offered to humankind as the planet and its people have evolved to a sensibility open to the ancientness and foreverness of energy healings.

I have for over 30 years been actively focused on personal

[W]ithout the component of Love, there is no healing.… The need to connect with others, to love and be loved … is a force that directs us back to the Source. healing. Energy healing became a natural extension and a strong interest in my quest for balance and peace. Early on in my seeking I was introduced to Ama-Deus.

This title is Latin meaning “to Love God.” Ama-Deus, like many healing techniques, enhances our spiritual growth and awareness, and supports our physical and emotional healing. The AmaDeus energy (Divine Love) can be used to assist, to enhance, and to expand the human experience in the physical reality.

My experience with healing on any level is that without the component of Love, there is no healing. Love is the great assimilator. The experience of love creates the desire to know the Source as a continual living experience.

The need to connect with others, to love and be loved during our earthly experience, is a force that directs us back to the Source.

With Ama-Deus, one taps directly into the energy flow of Love, accessing a stream of consciousness, an originally Uncreated Energy, as the name implies to Love God, which is enhanced and expanded by all who have ever used it. After invoking the energy, one is able to use this source of energy for self-healing, or to transmit to others through the hands, or via distance healing treatment. Ama-Deus

primarily helps to smooth, stabilize, balance, and bring tranquility as a gentle subtle energy adapting to circumstances and offering what is needed. Ama-Deus has the purpose for and is used to support the healing process. The energy of love is so powerful that its radiance lights every dimension of consciousness eliminating any shadows.

As we choose to do our healing, love supports and gives strength for accomplishing our task. This support and strength is recognizable. For example, how often have you felt “in love”, causing us to let go irritating events or brush off negative situations? We instead take on an air of indifference or nonchalance. Why? Love not only lifts us up, but also carries us through the healing process.

And so it came to be…

Ama-Deus has been preserved for thousands of years by a particular tribe of Guarani in South America. Alberto Costas Aguas, a world-renowned energy healer from Brazil, who after several years in exile, returned to his native land and found himself working with this tribe of Guarani.

The Guarani recognized him as a great healer and the one they were expecting, and initiated him into their sacred ways and transferred to him their ancient wisdom.

Healing with Love

In the summer of 2012, a self-published book Ama-Deus: Healing with the Sacred Energy of the Universe entered the market.

This came in direct response to the growing demand to embrace this ancient healing practice. A healing practice rooted in Love.

When first laying the foundation for this book, literary editors, agents, critics and close friends repeated the question “who is your audience, what is the theme?” and I responded with a big smile, “Everyone, it is about Love!” “NO, no, no this cannot be, the theme of Love will not work, and focus on a particular audience…” Several attempts were made to fit the material into the contemporary literary style, focus and theme suggested; however, repeatedly the manuscript returned to the premise that this is about Love, and the audience is for all.

Ama-Deus Healing with the Sacred Energy of the Universe is a story of the Guarani, who for thousands of years held on to this knowledge until the time came to share with the world how to heal with Love. Both the Guarani and Alberto believe that Love is in all healing. Alberto Aguas, who risked his life to preserve this knowledge, brought it to North America, where my story of healing with this ancient wisdom begins.

I believe we are all created with a sole purpose to love and be loved. In thinking of love, my thoughts take me to the highest source of existence,

what is understood to be the Source of All that Is. Then love becomes Love. Love is in everything and is all things. From a transpersonal or soul perspective, Love keeps all that exists joined to the Source of All that Is. Whatever spiritual technique or method of practice that you are using, recognize that Love is the most important ingredient. And as the great holy people of our times hold in place the Light let us rejoice in practice knowing that Love will circle the earth aiding transformation for all.

When we begin to ponder what our heart’s desire is, what comes to mind? Is it companionship, self-love, expansiveness? The heart’s desire is a multitude of feelings, energies, soul connections, dreams, and wants of the soul. The desire encompasses the heart and holds space for all of you. It is a chamber of our being where our truth is kept for us to discover and act upon, if we choose to. This is the place we can travel to when we seek what we truly want, and this sacred chamber of the heart is always working with us.

Our heart’s desire doesn’t always wait for us to unlock the door. It also works with our mind’s eye or intuition to provide us with moments, synchronicities, dreams, and feelings that lead to our true nature. It is streamlined and expands throughout the body. It allows us to access who we truly are without outside interference.

to recreate your Self and causes separation from the soul. When you are not being true to your Self, you can feel it when you stop and pay attention. It does not feel natural because quite frankly it isn’t.

For me, I describe this as looking like a slight crack in the earth’s ground. Like when you see dried dirt that has separated around the base of a tree. This is what I feel in my heart anytime that I am not being honest with my heart’s desire. However, this is not a permanent split. It simply needs to be watered. So, water and nurture your heart, your desire, and your true nature.

Remember to also be gentle with yourself. This is a journey. Your journey. You will walk many paths and take several detours. The important reminder here is to keep moving along.

So, what is a great and magical tool that you can use to be able to listen to your heart’s desire without any interference? Dreams. As we drift off to sleep, our thinking minds shut down. Our mind is no longer spinning that constant rolodex of logic. We are then free to explore and listen to our mind’s eye and soul without the concept of reality. We do not question what is real and what is “impossible” in our dream state. We allow the magic carpet to take us along on the journey. We simply are.

Dreams are a portal into the subconscious and beyond. They are a gateway into the unknown and allow us to openly communicate without reservations. We go into a void, so the images and story can come to us, then we can take in this information.

Your heart is open and your soul beams with true guidance. Whether you are on an island digging for treasure or watching a movie with a partner there are deep meanings that can be felt. You just must sometimes go beyond the distinct visual of the dream to dig deeper into its truth.

It is easy to think that we are working with our heart’s true desire when we are simply thinking.

Society, beliefs, media, etc. can sometimes interfere with who we really are and can encourage a drift from our connection to the heart as well as our intuition. We are typically taught from an early age that we must act or appear a certain way for society, for acceptance. This creates a constant battle

I hear all the time, “Well what if I can’t remember my dreams?” The first question I always ask, is if they ask to remember their dreams before lying down?

Intention is extremely powerful and yields your inner magic. If you are wanting to remember your dreams, simply put out the intention that you want to remember your dreams when you wake up and do this nightly. Also, you may find that you wake up in

the middle of the night and remember your dreams in detail only to find that you went back to sleep, and now remember vague pieces. Keep a dream journal by your bed so you can quickly write down your dream. This can take some practice (believe me I know)!

Herbs are also a great way to enhance your dream state and assist with recalling your dreams once you wake. There are several that create this magic and are extremely powerful dream tools. My personal favorite, which I use often, is mugwort.

Mugwort is associated with Artemis who is the Greek Goddess of the moon. Artemis is brave, adventurous, and specifically encourages us to live our life authentically. She wants us to live our lives independently, free from the shackles of others, and to act as we wish versus what we have been taught. This herb is known for aiding in sleeping and dreaming.

Mugwort has been used in healing and ritual ceremonies that promote dreams for many years and is sometimes referred to as the “dream sage”. You can see how this herb is very powerful and allows the heart’s desire to break through in the dream state. It allows our wild soul to clearly speak and our magic will unfold. Not only is this herb used for the dream state, but it is also used to recall your dreams once you are awakened.

How do you take mugwort? There are several ways that you can use this herb, but I find the easiest way is through a tea. I love tea ceremonies and the connection it creates with you and the herb. I find it naturally relaxing to make tea, it allows the time to set your intentions and shows gratitude towards the magical herbs being utilized. Below you will find a simple mugwort tea ritual, so you can create your magic and dream into your heart’s desire. 

Mugwort Dream Tea Ingredients 1 tsp mugwort (roots, leaves, flowers or stems)

1 cup hot water Honey (if desired)

Begin by heating your water but be sure not to boil it. While the water is heating put one teaspoon of mugwort into your favorite heat proof container. Close your eyes while you place your hands over the herbs. Set your intentions at this time. Ask that this herb allow you to go into a dream state and to be able to communicate with your heart’s desire. Include that you wish for help in recalling your dreams when you awake. Remember that this is for you so add whatever you feel. Just be you. Thank the herb and yourself for this ritual and open your eyes. Carefully, add a cup of hot water to the herbs and steep the tea for 10 minutes. I sometimes steep it longer. Just listen to your intuition and go with your own flow. Strain the tea into your favorite tea cup, sweeten with honey if you like, and enjoy your enchanted dream elixir. When you are ready, lay down in your bed and allow your true heart’s desire to come alive.

Ancient Science of Palmistry

By Jewel Shelden and Neshi Lokotz (Jan, 2016) Our individual palmar patterns serve as a map or blueprint that reveals our inherited health tendencies, special skills and abilities, and characteristics that make us who we are.

Palmistry is based on the science of observation. Just as every individual has unique DNA and his or her own distinct fingerprint pattern, every palm has lines and patterns that are different and unique. We are all created as unique individuals, and our individual palmar patterns were given to us to serve as a “map” or ‘blueprint” that, with study, reveals our inherited health tendencies, our special skills and abilities, and our own characteristics that make us who we are. One of the best uses of the study of palms is to discover the health tendencies inherited from parents and grandparents.

With just a little knowledge about this age-old art you will no longer give any credence to that silly popular myth of palmistry and fortune telling being related.

Recently, Jewel and Neshi had a conversation about the science of palmistry as an introduction to

palmistry. Jewel shares about her 47 years of experience. She also shares how to discern a real palmist and an intuitive reader who may not have the psychic ability or palmistry knowledge.

Some clues are presented below: The reader asks to examine one hand only. Not comparing left hand to right hand shows that the reader has very little real knowledge of hand reading and is a scammer.

The reader advertises with a big neon sign! A reputable palmist

would have repeat business and referrals from satisfied clients and have no need to advertise so blatantly.

The reader charges a really large fee. Most scam artists are out to make $500 or much more from one client. Not every one will fall for the “I can fix your love life”, or “You have a hole in your aura and I can fix it for $500.”

Celebration of Life!

What does that mean, celebration of life? Do you know? Does it have to do with one’s standing in the community? Does it have to do with how much we own?

How easily it seems our wishes come true? Or how well we pretend to be happy?

Does it have to do with the many masks we wear? And how well we do it?

Or, is it how willing we are to be alive? Or, how willing we are to live without an expected outcome? Or, how willing we are to feel? Feel whether it is joy, or it is pain! How willing are we to co-create?

Wow! So many questions! I am sure each one of us will have an answer! I am sure there are no right and no wrong answer.

All answers will just be different facets of the same crystal. The most important is, have you given it some thought, to this Celebration of Life?

And if so, how are you going to do it, this celebration of life?

Because to think it, is only the beginning. But to do it, is the real secret to Celebrating it.

Do it! The act of doing is the expression of celebrating of life through this body you are living in right now. Creating!

Co-creating!

My facet of the crystal says, “We cannot fully celebrate life without co-creation! Co-creation is the very basis of Celebrating Life!”

The word Co-creation is such a small word for such big feelings and such magnitude of emotions.

The very fiber of the Universe!

The weave that we create!

Co-creation is the height of Joy and the pit of Pain.

It is about inspiring and being inspired. It is about allowing your worst fears to come out and be willing to work with it. It is about allowing the greatest joy to come

through and not to be frightened of joy.

It is also the most helpful space to learn about attachments and letting go. It is an amazing space of growth. It is not for the fainthearted!

I know it sounds a little crazy because you might say everything is co-creation. And you are right. But is it conscious co-creation?

Most humans do not consciously co-creation. Actually, I know that we all co-create and we definitely do not co-create consciously.

Conscious co-creation is the most difficult thing to do in our path of evolution on this planet, and it is also the one thing that provides

us with the most growth. It is the most rewarding and the speediest form of evolution. Isn’t willing evolution a form of Celebrating Life?

Because after all, isn’t conscious co-creation, a willingness to be available?

To Be Available to life means to be available for our Self and each other. No matter what that means? To be Fully present!

Regardless of the outcome!

To wake up every day, and say: “I want today to count. I want to be fully present. I want to be all of Me. The best that I can be! I want to have a twinkle in my eye and a spring in my step! I want my lips to be smiling, because the smile can be seen in my eyes! I want my heart to be full and my soul

to be expressing! I want to be willing, available, conscious and co-creating!

I want to celebrate life with each breath, each blink, each step, each thought, each word and each deed!”

I want to shout loud and proud: This is Me! All the Me that I can be!

I celebrate life in every way that I can! The co-creation we are busy with right now is a party. A cosmic party!

So……

And so I extend this invitation to you.

You are invited. You, humanity, each human being is invited.

The invitation is clear and simple.

Bring an Open Heart and a willingness to Co-create from your Highest.

In many respects, this is a surprise party. No one really knows who will accept the invitation. We don’t know who being playing the music or what music is being played. What food will be served.

Surprise party!!! Are you still willing to come?

We could say a surprise party is co-­creation at its best. There are no guarantees. You will have lots of choices. You are the one choosing.

And, so what will the choices be? What are you bringing to the party?

How adventurous are you willing to be? When the time comes, are you going to dance? And which tune are you going to dance too?

How joyful are you prepared to be and how much Heart are you going to put into the dance? Will you dance alone in a corner?

Or are you prepared to dance with others?

You choose! You are the party!

Let’s make it a joyful celebration!

Keeping your Spirits Bright After the Holidays

By Laurie De Decker (Jan, 2015) As I sit here writing on the eve of the winter solstice, I’m reminded of how dreary Michigan winters can be. Lake Michigan moderates our winter temperatures bringing gray cloudy days. These short, bleak days can trigger moodiness, carbohydrate cravings, weight gain, and the urge to hibernate. This change in moods happens anywhere with a lack of sunshine during the winter.

Combine this change with the post-holiday letdown and winter can feel like a real drag.

The further north you live, the greater the risk of the winter blues, or ‘seasonal affective disorder’ (SAD). SAD is believed to occur because of a lack of sunlight, alterations in the body’s internal clock, and a disturbance in melatonin and serotonin production.

(Melatonin helps regulate our sleep/awake cycle. The disruption makes us feel sleepy and lethargic in the winter.

As I look out my window, the pond is frozen and bleak, along with the surrounding fields. I live in a rural area and am often drawn to think about the ancestors of this land for inspiration. They are the Anishnabek (the Odawa, Bodewadomi and Ojibwa, or collectively the Three Fires). I marvel at how their strength, endurance and knowledge of the natural world allowed them to survive this difficult time of year. They worked year-round to prepare for winter, preserving food, tanning hides, building warm winter housing and creating a winter camp that protected them from harsh weather.

The pace of their lives slowed to match the short days. They often took their cues from their animal relatives in the world around them.

Unfortunately, our fast-paced world doesn’t allow us to hibernate like our four-legged relatives, nor can we hunker down for days like our indigenous ancestors.

So, if you aren’t able to head to a warm, sunny place once the holiday festivities are over, read on for ideas on how to make the best of winter.

This seasonal change we experience is believed to be a connection to our ancestral roots. It allowed our ancestors to slow down to conserve energy when food was more limited. It also allowed rest and renewal before the long busy summer. Though we now control our living environment through the harshest weather, this ancient survival mechanism still

So, whether you just feel the urge to slow down in the winter or you have trouble keeping the weight off, how do you make the long winter more bearable?

This question reminds me again of the ancestors of this place and what they did to survive this cold, dark time of year. Here are a few thoughts: Slow down, but don’t hibernate—In the winter we often stop many of our warm weather physical activities. Our ancestors didn’t do that. They still did things like hauling water and firewood.

Though you many not need to do daily outdoor chores, you can find ways to stay active during the winter.

Get natural daylight every day. The Anishnabek knew this as they continued their daily outdoor activities. In addition, they often held winter games and tournaments. These winter games and tournaments helped maintain a sense of community and got everyone outdoors for fresh air, daylight, and physical activity.

Though you may not have the opportunity to compete in a Snow Snake Tournament (a winter sport played by many of the Native American Tribes in the Midwest), you can take up outdoor activities with a connection to northern indigenous ancestors, like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Long used for winter travel, they are now recreational activities in areas with snow. Many parks and natural areas have trails, so check out what’s available in your area.

Spending time in nature raises your serotonin level too!

When you can’t get outdoors, still get some daylight. Sit by a window whenever possible during the day—morning is best. Even if there are clouds, the daylight will stimulate brain chemicals to help you feel more awake and energetic.

It may be helpful to use a sun lamp that mimics natural sunlight.

It helps to balance your sleep/ awake cycle. Use a light made for this specific purpose, which gives off at least 10,000 lux of light.

If you are considering one, talk with your healthcare provider for recommendations.

Take it indoors—Moderate physical activity can mitigate winter weight gain. It’s also a great way to elevate your mood, by raising serotonin and stimulating other feel good chemicals in your body. Look for an indoor facility that offers physical activities. Here are a few ideas to keep you active and warm during winter exercise:

Take the time to rest and regenerate—The ancestors saw winter as a time of rest and renewal.

They scaled back their activities and lived in harmony with the natural flow of time. They often gathered around a fire and told stories on long winter nights.

Make sure you take the time to do the same; watch uplifting movies, or read books.

Join a gym or check out local schools and colleges with facilities open to the general public, like gyms, pools, or hallways for walking.

Get some energy therapy or a massage. I practice an energy therapy taught by Healing in America in the U.S. and the Healing Trust in England. It allows for deep relaxation, promotes restful sleep, and activates the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Create your own gym. You don’t need lots of space or fancy equipment to exercise at home.

Check out exercise DVD’s and internet sites, like YouTube, to create your own exercise routine.

Personal trampolines or walking machines are inexpensive and allow healthy, indoor activity in a small space.

Take the stairs! Thanks to the effects of gravity, walking stairs burn more calories than walking on a level surface. So, take them whenever you can. If you have stairs at home, put on some music and walk your staircase for 10–15 minutes, several times a day. You’ll be surprised how it energizes you!

Get back to your roots—Who were your ancestors or the ancestors of the place you live? What were their winter traditions?

Explore them. Visit a local museum or historical society, connect with local elders for their stories, or search the internet for information on how they spent their winters.

Find local festivals and activities that follow ancestral traditions.

It’s a great way to pass short winter days!

Eat for the season—Eat healthy local winter foods. For carbohydrate cravings, try crops like sweet potatoes and squash.

Kale is a super food often available in winter. Try preserved or frozen low-sugar summer fruits and fresh citrus fruits in season.

They can help satisfy cravings without promoting weight gain.

Balance them with lean protein and healthy fats for the sustained energy needed for winter activities.

These are just a few ways to keep your spirits bright during the long post-holiday winter. By getting exposure to daylight, keeping active, eating right and taking care of yourself you can often move through the winter blues with ease. Remember, in January the days begin to grow longer.

Brunch, Anyone?

Brunch is that wonderful meal we look forward to at the end of a long week. It is a time for family and friends to get together and enjoy a smorgasbord of delicious foods that encompasses both breakfast and lunch fare. Where did it begin and why?

According to Jesse Rhodes of the Smithsonian Magazine, “Some food historians think that the meal has its roots in England’s hunt breakfasts—lavish multicourse meals that featured a smorgasbord of goodies such as chicken livers, eggs, meats, bacon, fresh fruit and sweets. Others posit that Sunday brunch derives from the practice of Catholics fasting before mass and then sitting down for a large midday meal.”

Regardless of its origin, Brunch can be a meal of good times and wonderful foods. What does seem certain is that the word “brunch”—that playful blend of “breakfast” and “lunch”—first appeared in print in an 1895 Hunter’s Weekly article.

In “Brunch: A Plea,” British author, Guy Beringer, suggested an alternative to the heavy, post-church Sunday meals in favor of lighter fare served late in the morning. “Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting,” Beringer says. “It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.” (Beringer, Guy. Hunter’s Weekly, 1895.)

So, who was this Guy Beringer who came up with the word Brunch? In the October 20, 2013 edition of Mental Floss, Ethan Trex states that Guy Beringer was an English writer who “first proposed the idea for the mixed meal in his 1895 essay “Brunch: A Plea.” In it, Beringer defended those nursing their Sunday morning hangovers.”

Well that makes sense. What I find interesting is that another publication, Punch, later proposed that if the meal is closer to breakfast then call it Brunch, however if it is closer to lunch then it should

be called, “Blunch”. Currently, I believe that we most often consume this meal closer to lunchtime however the term “Blunch” is not one that I have ever heard before.

It is also interesting to note that the Brunch concept did not become popular in the United States until the 1930’s.

This delicious meal may be one of extremes or simplicity depending on the hostess. Usually you will find one egg entree, some fresh fruit, one heavier option such as a meat, a variety of breads and muffins, and ending with a

GLUTEN FREE LEMON BLUEBERRY SCONES Ingredients: 2 cups blanched almond flour (not almond meal) 1⁄4 teaspoon salt (I use Celtic Sea Salt) 1 teaspoon baking soda 1⁄2 cup dried blueberries 1⁄2 cup mini dark chocolate chips 1 tablespoon lemon zest 1 large egg 2 tablespoons agave nectar (may use honey)

Directions: In a large bowl, combine almond flour, salt, baking soda, blueberries, chocolate chips, and lemon zest.

In a small bowl, combine egg and honey.

Mix wet ingredients into dry.

Knead dough with hands to distribute ingredients properly.

Form dough into 2 equal circles. Press to flatten each to about 1⁄2 inch thick.

Cut each circle into 6 slices, like a pizza. I do this on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Arrange the triangles on the cookie sheet so there is space between each scone.

Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes or until golden brown at the edges. Enjoy! multitude of pastries. Often a cocktail such as Mimosas along with the usual coffees and teas is served. In current times, people often go out to Brunch at a restaurant or a “club” which we see so many of in the big cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, etc. For those of us who do not have that as an option, we may find families adopting a brunch concept for family gatherings on the weekend.

Brunch at our home is usually a healthy version as all the members of our family are very health conscious, though in different ways. I prefer to have fresh squeezed orange juice to start. I often make Gluten Free Scones

that are delicious when warm.

We might have eggs that I cook to each individual’s preference along with a baked casserole of French Toast, Belgium Waffles or pancakes. We always have a basket of muffins and bagels available as well. Fresh fruit is served for all of us to add to the muffins, French Toast, or waffles!

Brunch is a fun way to gather around, enjoy some great food, and share the stories of our week.

It is a way to stay connected in our busy everyday lives.

By keeping the menu lighter and healthy, we also are tending to the health of our bodies and minds. The conversation feeds our hearts and the food feeds

our bodies. That’s a nice feeling all around!

I’ve included my recipe for GF Lemon Blueberry Scones. Since they are Gluten Free, they are moist unlike the drier, store bought ones that are made with wheat flour. I hope you will try this recipe as I am sure you too will enjoy the scones! ✦ Wishing you a happy brunch and a Happy New Year!

You have heard of resolutions and setting goals for the New Year, but “dreaming?” Before explaining the “why” of dreaming, let me begin by sharing a variety of dream types. Some are depicted from my personal experience while others are adaptations from the Dream Moods website.

Daydreams occur between the sleep and awake state of consciousness. Your imagination can carry you away.

False awakening dreams cause you to go through daily routines thinking you are awake, only to find yourself waking again and realizing it was just a dream.

Lucid dreams are those in which you realize you are actually participating in a dream. Most dreamers wake themselves up. Some others have acquired the skill to actively participate, which allows them to influence the direction or outcome of them.

Nightmare dreams are disturbing and usually cause you to wake up feeling anxious and frightened. Nightmares are the subconscious mind alerting you to pay attention. This type of dream may indicate a fear that needs acknowledgment, a life situation to be confronted or a response to conscious life trauma.

Recurring dreams more than likely occur because unresolved life lessons need to be identified. They continue to repeat themselves until a resolution is attained.

Happy New Year!

Another year is over; a new one has just begun. It’s time for making New Year’s resolutions, setting new goals, and “dreaming.”

Dreams are your friend. Each type of dream has its purpose.

They may be happy, sad, intense, frightening, resolving or creating. Did you know when affirmations are made in the alpha state they are 100 to 200 times more powerful than if they are spoken in the awake state?

Healing dreams provide information regarding your health. Through the body/mind connection, physical symptoms can be identified before actual physical symptoms occur. The Ancient Greeks called these dreams “prodromic”.

Prophetic dreams (precognitive or psychic) are dreams that foretell the future. Your unconscious mind knows what is coming before your conscious mind has pieced things together.

Epic dreams or Cosmic Dreams are life changing.

Progressive dreams occur when you have a sequence of dreams over a period of nights that continue where you left off the previous night.

Such dreams help you to problem-solve by exploring different options and approaches to a situation.

Mutual dreams occur when two people have the same dream at the same time. If you and someone else are focusing on a certain goal, they can occur at the same time. These dreams usually occur with someone with whom you have a strong bond or are attaining improved communication.

Note: all types of dreaming involve either the conscious, subconscious or super conscious parts of the mind. The brain wave patterns of these parts of the mind are known as the beta, alpha or delta state. Signal dreams or intuition occur in the beta state or conscious part of your mind.

Daydreams occur when beginning to relax and move into the alpha state or subconscious part of your mind. In meditation you drift deeper into the alpha state or subconscious part of your mind. All other types of dreams occur in the superconscious part of the mind.

Did you know when affirmations are made in the alpha state they are 100 to 200 times more powerful than if they are spoken in the awake state? Now think of the benefits you can have when dreaming in the alpha state. See yourself dreaming in the relaxed space of meditation, focusing upon that which you desire; your subconscious mind is accepting the

Moon

We are lucky to have such a close friend in the Heavens—the Moon—a sensitive, supportive, nurturing and illuminating orb that adores us. The Moon is our Mother in the Sky who reflects great love upon all the children of Earth. She watches us from her starry realm, following us through our days and nights, through our cycles of life. She notes how we change from day to day, month to month. Like a loving parent, she watches out for us and follows close behind. We can see how she tracks our growth and progress along her own Heavenly orbit.

Mother Moon is integral to life on Earth. She keeps the steady rhythm of the waves in our lakes, rivers and oceans. She regulates the movement of the waters within our own bodies. She fine-tunes our emotions and soothes our fears. She guides our inner tides and moods. Plants and wildlife hear her voice and take their cues of seeding, blooming and ripening from her. Farmers know that she keeps their crops and planting cycles close to her Heart.

However, those who don’t understand Moon wisdom believe that she is fickle, manipulative, moody, unrelenting, pouty and ultra-­ sensitive. Yet, Mother Moon of the Heavens is our greatest champion.

She’s the one who desires our fulfillment more than anything in all the cosmos!

Within the Ancient Book of Life called Tarot, the Moon shows her many faces of wisdom. She has her signature upon several Major and Minor Arcana cards. The Ancients understood how integral her wisdom is to our inner being, and they took great care to showcase her many characteristics and phases of wisdom within the Tarot. Through the lunar ascension cycle depicted in the Tarot, we learn about our own capacity for depth, intuition, compassion, manifestation, adaptation and innate wisdom.

Faces of the Full Mother Moon The Great Mother’s love is featured most significantly within The Moon card of the Major Arcana,

#18. The artwork and images show how the Full Moon Mother cares deeply for the Earth and all creation. She awakens the night, beaming her love on land and sea. The Tarot Journey

The Moon card within a Tarot reading indicates revelation of internal wisdom, listening to instinct and recognizing the still voice of Soul guidance. When we take the time to “go within” and check our inner knowing, we are using our Moon abilities. The Moon card also shows us where to find nurturing sustenance. In fact, astrologers know that the Moon represents the stomach—the physical intake of nourishment and assimilating “new information” within our bodies. The Moon card tells us to acknowledge and follow only what nurtures our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits.

The Moon coaches our emotional development and processing. She tells us that emotions are part of the natural flow of life, just like gentle waves upon the shore.

Also in a reading, The Moon card tells us to pay attention to the cycles of the moon in orbit. This attention to the cycles is especially keen for questions about timing. If the moon cycle is waxing (growing into fullness), the energy/ situation/relationship is building, growing and increasing toward manifestation. New Year’s Feng Shui With the New Year upon us, it is the optimum time to bring a sense of fresh energy into your home through the application of Feng Shui. True Feng Shui is the study of how we, as humans, interact with everything in our environments, and how to optimize those interactions. Our mood, energy level, health and even our finances are influenced by the spaces we occupy. A first step to understanding why this is true is to get a firm grasp of the concept of energy flow. In Feng Shui, this is called Chi. Chi is the life force that surrounds us all. It is in the atmosphere of our planet and cycles down to flow along the earth’s surface, embracing us with a blanket of energy. This is the life force that enters our homes to breathe life into them. Chi is also equated with cash flow, so if that motivates you to apply these ideas, all the better!

Life force enters your home from the land mainly through your architectural front door. Think of your home as a rather large head, and the windows are its eyes, and this door is its mouth. Your home is energetically “fed” through this “Mouth of Chi.” The Feng Shui goal here is to attract the best quality of life force into your home as pos­sible. Here are some ways to do that:

Lighting—Light attracts Chi so the more lighting here, the better. In the winter months, Christmas lights can be used to draw attention here. Tiny solar fairies lights can be added to planters in the summer.

Garden walkway lighting and light fixtures on one or both sides of the door will call the Chi here. Make sure fixtures are functioning and burnt light bulbs are replaced immediately.

Color—Also attracts attention and Chi here as well.

Combination flower pots filled with your favorite colors could flank the entrance. A brightly colored doormat, and painting the front door a contrasting color from your homes exterior and any others exterior doors, including the garage, are all Chi lifters.

Sound and Movement— Wind chimes or bells that sound pleasing to you will also

call more life force into your home. This Tibetan Bell has the most precious ring and is also a spiritual connection for me.

Also, anything that creates a movement like a flag, windsock or water fountain are helpful here.

Please do not feel all of these adjustments need to be done simultaneously. An overload of ideas could lead to a cluttered, blocked entrance that is the opposite of our goal. And before any of these placements can be effective, a thorough cleaning of your front steps, porch, and entrance is a must, removing anything that resembles clutter.

I do hope you apply at least one of these ideas to your front entrance to call in more love, health, wealth and abundance for you and your loved ones in [the new year]! ✦

Mentors of the Heart

Yvette Neshi Lokotz (Jan, 2018) Do you remember the one mentor of yours that not only changed your life, but was your number one role model? Having a mentor is important to your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual growth.

The mentor I cherish to this day was Mrs. Counsell.

She was my best boss. Mrs. Counsell was the first non-Native Elder who took an interest in my life and was there to listen, share her childhood experiences as fables, and encouraged me to do the best job no matter what the job was at the time.

I was 18 years old and not married yet. I worked for Parson’s Indian Trading Post in Lake Delton, WI. Mrs. Counsell owned the Trading Post. One of her sons ran the day to day operations and hired me for a sales clerk position.

I would show up for work in the mornings just in time.

Mrs. Counsell never missed anything happening within the Post. She would smile at me as I pulled— rather quickly—into the parking lot knowing I was cutting it close to be on time. I remember the time she found me at the pop machine soon after I arrived at work and noticed I bought an orange soda. She asked me, “Why orange?”

I told her it was the closest drink to orange juice.

After that pop machine encounter with her, she had orange juice in the communal refrigerator as well as English muffins for the new toaster. Now, I could have had breakfast at home, but I woke up just in time to shower and drive to work. Mrs. Counsell never lectured me about getting up earlier to have

She just supplied the opportunity and it was up to me to grab the opportunity.

Mrs. Counsell was interested in my college education. She would ask me what classes I signed up for and the area I was considering for my major.

Her favorite comment to me was, “Once you have gained an education, no one can take it away from you.” She also had another saying, “sweeping is a necessity, pay attention to the corners as the middle of the room will take care of itself.” This quote is one of my favorite quotes from her as it was about the mundane that translated to life in general. Details are important; the unseen is important.

When Mrs. Counsell Walked On (passed away) my favorite mentor and role model left many of us adrift. We had to learn how to continue on our way without her suggestions and nurturing. I still remember her afternoon talks with me while we worked.

I know now how special that time was because she took time out from her business to spend time with me.

It is Mrs. Counsell’s way of caring for others that showed me how to be kind to others and to take time to be with them to share experiences and stories that may turn out to be helpful.

Dragon’s Egg

I can hardly remember my life before the dragons. It is like a vague, misty recollection of another life, a life before ordinary reality became extraordinary reality. I realize now that everything that had happened to me up to that point was preparing me for meeting the dragons.

I know in my heart that we are in the midst of a momentous elevation in consciousness on Mother Earth. Spirit has been calling us all to gather together at that time in love, peace, and unity, with sacred intention.

The day the dragons came, a major thunderstorm had stormed in at my cottage on Georgian Bay one fall day in 2014. I was waiting for my sisters to arrive to do some spirit work around a very powerful call we were feeling to go to France. In the purplish haze of a stormy sky, lightning began to slam the earth all around the cottage.

As the lightning struck again and again, I began to feel massive energy building in the Earth. I could

sense a massive release of energy coming, so I lit the sage and began to smudge myself and everywhere around the cottage, offering prayers to Creator, Mother Earth, Father Sky, the Thunderbirds and the cloud nation. The first release began in pulsing waves of energy, sounds, and images of the traumas held within my ancestors. Tears began to flow.

I cried, “Miigwetch Animiki Binesi, thank you Thunderbirds, for helping with this release.”

Instantly, a bolt of lightning cracked above my head, circling around clockwise in the clouds without hitting the earth. The Thunderbirds were listening.

We quickly settled in to circle, going deep into spirit, and immediately sensed the presence of several massive dragons circling above us.

They identified themselves as the dragons of the Cosmos. Their job was to make sure the dragon energy lines of the Cosmos were flowing in accordance with the Divine Blueprint. They shared with us that there were blockages on the dragon lines in France. Our job was to find the blockages and clear them. No guidance was given on how this was to be done or the location of the blockages.

Three more waves of release came dealing with traumas held within the Divine Feminine, Divine Masculine and Mother Earth. With each release, I thanked the Thunderbirds, and each time, a bolt of lightning circled around clockwise in the clouds without hitting the earth. It was incredible!

As the time for the arrival of Sue, Andrea, and Martha approached, I put down tobacco to explain to the Thunderbirds that I would be unable to cross in the boat to pick them up if the lightning and rain did not end. Immediately the storm paused, and I knew I was being given a window of time to go get them.

I jumped into the boat and sped to the harbour, quickly explaining to them what had happened. As we approached the cottage, I could see the black sky closing in.

“We have five minutes to unload and get everything battened down!” I cried.

Just as we finished, the storm began to rage once again. We quickly settled in to circle, going deep into spirit. We immediately sensed the presence of several massive dragons circling above us. One of the dragons had the Earth for an eye.

Completely trusting in the guidance of the dragons, off we flew to France. We have been doing these sacred journeys to different parts of the world for many years. Whenever we are called to a place to do this sacred work, our first step is a ceremony to ask the land and the ancestors there for their permission and assistance.

In France, we were drawn by the ancestors to meet them in the ancient Druid Labyrinthe Vert in Nebias.

Slowly and reverently, we walked to the centre of the serpentine labyrinth on pathways worn deep into the earth by those who went before us. We felt the enchantment enveloping us as this sacred place worked its magic on us. In the centre of the labyrinth, we called to the spirits of the land and the ancestors, making our offerings of prayers, songs, medicines, and food.

The ancestors greeted us and asked us to find four dragon staffs. We began to search the area and soon found the staffs leaning up against the stone wall encircling the central area. One of the staffs was selected to come with us on our journey. As we completed the ceremony and closed the circle there, we promised to return the staff after the work was completed.

The magic continued the next day when we met a French sculptor named Hervé. As we talked to him

the mountain making sounds in resonance with us.

In one of the caves, Martha was gifted a crown with all different jewels on each point of the crown, for connecting to the star nations. She was told to be sure her crown was straight to receive this ancient wisdom. It was a powerful initiation into the work to come.

Some of the connecting passages between caves were very small cracks that we had to crawl through on our bellies. I felt a strong force trying to silence my voice in those caves, but I also heard

The next day, we met Hervé and his partner Nathalie to see the Star Being sculptures at his studio. There were about thirty sculptures, all incredibly beautiful and otherworldly. He creates them as he sees them when he does his spirit work.

They were from many different star nations: Pleiades, Andromeda, Arcturus, Sirius, Orion, Alpha Centauri, Cassiopeia, Lyra, Spica and Zeta Reticula.

Right away, we sensed that it would be incredibly powerful to circle them up and do a journey with them. Hervé lit many candles in the circle of Star Beings, and we sat in the centre. We connected strongly with all of these beings receiving guidance about the next steps in our journey. They showed me that some sort of dark magic had been performed on the dragon lines to block the flow, diverting it for use by these same dark forces.

After the ceremony, Hervé was guided to show us a large egg-shaped crystal geode he had found in a river bed while hiking in the area. The geode was pulsing with power. Hervé asked me what I thought about the geode, and without thinking, I immediately replied, “It’s a dragon’s egg!” ✦

Hiro & Little One

As you may know, the editor gives us a selection of topics for each issue of Star Nations Magazine. When I opened the e-mail for this month’s prep, the topic “Dragons” leaped off the computer screen. Since then, my totem dragons have been whispering in my ear.

“Tell them about us.”

First of all, yes, dragons do exist.

In ages past, they lived here on our plane of existence. There were fewer people and lots more wild area then. Dragons appear in art, literature, and myth all around the world. In the West, they are portrayed as savage beasts, ravaging villages and demanding the sacrifice of a virgin. As the Church gained dominance, the Dragon became the embodiment of Evil as was often seen as Satan.

Dragons were hunted by “Knights in shining armor” and destroyed where ever they were found. Most dragons wanted was to be left alone to live their lives in peace.

When they were nearly hunted out of existence, those that were left went to another plane where Man cannot go.

In the East, Dragons were revered as wise beings who were sought out by Man for enlightenment and help when major decisions were to be made. They were consulted on many different topics by all.

In China, the seal of the royal house included a five-fingered dragon.

Only the royal family could have this dragon on its banner. All others have only three fingers.

The Eastern dragon, like my friend Hiro, have long sinuous bodies with either four or six legs. They also sport wings and fly to reach their mountaintop refuges. The dragons of Europe are stockier of body with two or four legs and wings. They are also said to breathe fire, hence the “Fire breathing dragon” of European tales. The Celtic dragon is the smallest of all and resembles a bear in body shape with stubby wings that are mostly for show and intimidation.

Dragons are said to be bloodthirsty and greedy for all treasure. They are carnivores and need copious amounts of fresh meat when they feed. But, the true reason they hoard gold and jewels has little to do with greed for money. Gold is a soft metal that conforms well to their bodies in the nest. The scales of most dragons are very hard and dense on the back while the underside of their body is vulnerable to attack. The jewels tend to get

Man, being what he is, feared what he could not understand and began hunting the dragons. At first, the dragons pulled back but, Man didn’t stop. He began killing them for their treasure and sport.

Because of the relentlessness of the killing, Dragons used the magick born to them and began slipping between the worlds.

Dragons went to other places and other times—much like the unicorns, Fae Folk, and other creatures of legend and myth.

The Dragons still keep an eye on humans. Some visit in dreams while others cross partially into this realm, so they remain unseen, where they influence humans and show up in stories of fantasy with others from the Unseen Realm.

I mentioned earlier that two of my totems are Dragons. The first, I met nearly 35 years ago. I had drawn a bath, lit some candles, and turned on a CD of ocean waves.

The low light, soothing sound, and warmth of the bath had placed me in a meditative state.

Suddenly, I knew I was no longer alone. I could feel a presence in front of me. When I opened my eyes, all I could see were nostrils! I was looking up the nose of something very large!

“If you have something to say to me, could you please become smaller, so I can see you?”

The nostril disappeared, and a beautiful royal amethyst dragon with iridescent emerald colored wings appeared over the tub. It moved to the side and became a

May you be fortunate to make their acquaintance. bit larger so that we were seeing each other eye-to-eye.

The Dragon just stared at me, into me really, for several minutes.

Then, simply disappeared!

Over the next almost 20 years, I would feel the dragon’s presence but, did not see or hear it. Not until I was being attuned to Reiki.

The master had us meditate to connect with the Reiki masters. I saw a large Samurai in full armor and heard “Hiro.” It was a few months later that the Dragon appeared again. She made it known that she is female, and I am to call her “Hiro.”

Hiro is aware of me at all times and is there whenever I do Reiki healing. I also feel her when change is coming in my life and when a spiritual decision/action is needed. Hiro does not tell me what to do; she does help me see more clearly the impact my actions will have on myself and others.

The other Dragon made itself known about nine years ago. I was attending a class with Dana (Denise Iwaniw) in Big Rapids, and we were on a journey meditation. As I came back into the

room, a cow buffalo snorted on my left shoulder. Then, I felt weight on my right shoulder. I glanced over, and there sat a small dragon.

He met my eye and stuck his tongue in my ear! Buffalo snot on my left and Dragon spit in my ear!

What a night!

This new Dragon is too young to have a Name so, he is referred to as “Little One.” As he grows and matures, he will be called many different things until he earns his Name. Little One shows up when I get too serious and need to play.

He also shows up when he is curious about what I am doing.

So, that is how I know what I do about Dragons and what Hiro and Little One insisted I tell you.

Dragons exist. They are available to those they choose. As the planet and Humans raise their vibrations and awareness, Dragons and others that have gone “Between the worlds” will make themselves known to those who are ready.

May you be so fortunate as to make their acquaintance. ✦ The Circle is open yet, unbroken.

I Am the Eagle

I think we can probably all agree that the Eagle is one of the most majestic creatures on Earth. I find them incredibly beautiful and I cannot think of a better symbol than the Bald Eagle to represent the United States. Did you know that Benjamin Franklin pushed very hard for the Turkey to be the symbol for the nation? He was outvoted, thank goodness. Believe me, I have nothing against the Turkey, but let’s be realistic about this, the Turkey does not have the stature of a Bald Eagle.

I have spent time in Alaska gazing at a nest of Bald Eagles as well as many days in Yellowstone where I sat watching the Bald Eagles. They would dive from 100 feet up in the air, down to the lake level, reach in with its talons to catch fish and then have to fly away carrying its own body weight (or more). It’s a humbling experience to be in the presence of such power and beauty.

A few years ago, I spent quite a bit of time at the Detroit Zoo talking to the two male Bald Eagles that lived there. Both had been in accidents that rendered

them unable to fly. One of the Eagles named Flash, flew into an electrical line that severed most of his wing off. Every time I sit and look at them, I am amazed at how magnificent they look and what proud creatures they are. Every single time I watch them, I can hear a song playing in my head. It is a song written by John Denver called, “The Eagle and the Hawk”. It is not a long song at all, but a very poignant song about how man and nature sometimes collide, and that the eagle holds hope for our future of mankind.

Communicating with Sacred Animals

The Eagle and the Hawk I am the eagle, I live in high country, In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky.

I am the hawk, and there’s blood on my feathers, but time is still turning, they soon will be dry.

And all those who see me, and all who believe in me share in the freedom I feel when I fly.

Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountaintops.

Sail o’er the canyons and up to the stars.

And reach for the heavens and hope for the future and all that we can be, and not what we are.

I just find that song so beautiful and true to what I believe. We, as man, have hurt these beautiful birds of prey. Fortunately, that is changing and we are trying desperately to make up for that mistake. We need to hope for the future and not stop at what we are now, but what we really can be.

A few years back, I had a nice conversation with Lindy, one of the Bald Eagles at the Detroit Zoo. I asked him what his impression was about being the official symbol of the United States of America. I was surprised to hear how extremely humble he was about it. He wasn’t really aware that his kind represented an entire nation and he wasn’t really sure why the Eagle had been chosen. He thought that many animals could have been the symbol. I told him that my opinion is that Bald Eagles represent beauty, strength, courage and freedom. As a nation, these are traits that we want to emulate.

I spent about four hours that day with Lindy and Flash. We talked about the many different adventures that they had experienced. They were curious about my life as a human, so I explained many aspects of it to them. They asked as many questions about my life as I did about their lives. Eventually the conversation turned to their life at the Detroit Zoo. I asked them if they were happy to have been rescued and with the space that they were given. They both agreed that they could not survive in the wild without being able to fly, but that they also missed the wild. Since neither could fly, they are actually in an open area with no caging and they were free to hop around the enclosure. They told me that they were grateful that they are fed rabbits (frozen ones) rather than pellets or seeds, as they are raptors and raptors need to eat meat.

I asked Lindy if he would please show me what it was like when he could still fly. I basically asked him to show me a video in my mind of a flight that he had taken. He was happy to show me many memories of many flights and he took me on one particularly beautiful flight in Washington State. I could see his flight over the water and high above the land. It felt very magical soaring over the Earth; it was like no other feeling that I had ever felt while he glided so silently over the treetops. It was as if I was flying along with him and experiencing all that he did on that flight. Sadly, since then, Lindy has passed away.

I will always be grateful for the memory that he shared with me and the day that he allowed me to “soar with the Eagles”. ✦

In Ancient times, all thought, all action, and all living was done in the present moment. There was very little worry of the future, for all energy was focused in the moment. When your energy is stretched in time, the survival self does not understand where the moment of Now actually is located.

In this New Year, you can create a new reality, one based in the present with only an eye to the future.

The eye is focused on where you are heading, steering the life force in alignment with your true potential. When each breath is focused on full awareness of the present moment, all energy of creation returns back to the true essence of your true being. In the Now location, all things are possible

Knowing this pattern allows you to use it for your benefit, in this instance, to bring your energy into alignment with the Earth to remain in harmony with her vibrational frequency.

The ways to release dense energy have been discussed many times: meditation, movement, being out in nature, cleansing with water, and energy healing are but a few.

Remember how to connect face to face.

Devices were meant to serve you, not control you. This may be a big letting go for some of you. As you evolve, more energy becomes available to your energy body, and you have the opportunity to use that energy in all your creations. Do you want to change your life?

Change your energy.

The remembrance of what makes you feel lighter and happier is the key. Gravity was meant to teach connectedness to the Earth and all of Earth’s beings. Instead, you have used gravity to hold yourself down, in essence to hold yourself back. Heavy thoughts, heavy intentions create denseness within that can be hard to release. Often, in the densest of

energy, you have no idea that the energy is even separate from you, but rather you interpret the energy to be you. This is farthest from the truth. Think of it this way: you are not your trauma, your trauma happened to you. You are not defined by events: shaped and molded, yes; defined, no.

you are. This is a difficult concept to understand for many and even harder to create in your reality. This is one of those dense beliefs waiting for release.

In this new time, this new era of energy evolution, you have the unique opportunity to simply let go. Let go of the past, let go of the future. Let go of the anxiety, let go of the worry. These things are not important in the now, they are simply distracting you from connecting to who you are.

You are masters of distractions. Now more than ever, you have created ways to avoid the present and experiencing life to the fullest. Technology and gadgets have become more important than speaking and being present with the person in front of you.

Instead, you have become disconnected from Source and disconnected from each other. How are you to serve your true potential, when you avoid each other except through the barrier of these devices? When was the last time that you spent an entire day without one? Sometimes the densest energy can happen in this escape from the Now. Taking the opportunity to let go can be as simple as letting go of the need to be connected in such an artificial way and remembering how to connect face to face. Remember that the devices were meant to serve you, not control you. This may be a big letting go of energy beliefs for some of you.

As the new energy systems evolve, allow your self the time to adapt. There is much information to

absorb but it can be done in manageable amounts.

It may take some time to shift your thinking from a binary operations code of polarity, such as black/ white, night/day, dark/light, right/wrong, and male/ female. Instead, think of not just black and white but also all the shades of grey in between.

You think of your energy field in a linear fashion, but in a multi-dimensional vibration you are much more complex than many of you have understood. You often focus on the physical being that you see with your eyesight, but not on the energetic being that is so much more than the eyes can comprehend.

As you evolve, more energy becomes available to be used by your energy body, and you have the opportunity to use that energy in all your creations of reality. Do you want to change your life? Change your energy and you will change your being.

Spend time this New Year by reconnecting to your true essence. Take time to be in the present moment and to spend more time reconnecting with others in person, not simply through your devices. Release the dense energy of the past that you carry as if that energy is who you are. Remember that the evolution of self and the planet is not easy, but you do not have to do it alone. Reach out for help when you need it and offer help when asked. This may seem simplistic, but what is often most forgotten is the human aspect of humanity. ✦

Polarity

with Karen Crowley Susani (Jan, 2019) We live in a world full of invisible energy. It is subtle and can be found everywhere. We humans, just like the Earth, are surrounded by a magnetic field because we live on this planet. The human body is an electromagnetic organism with a direct current (DC) central nervous system. We have a positive and a negative polarity: the top of our head is positive, and our feet are negative, and there Earth’s magnetic field is a kind of current running in the middle of our body called the central channel. All living things have this polarity, including the earth.

Let’s briefly look at how the Earth’s electromagnetic energy works.

When the Earth rotates, the core also rotates, and they turn at different speeds. This rotation works like a dynamo, producing electricity and a magnetic field around the earth. All structures live and participate in this magnetic field.

As you can see in the next illustration, we are surrounded by the same bio-magnetic field as the earth. In fact, all living structures on the planet bath in the same magnetic field; animals, birds, trees, etc. Having a strong bio-magnetic field is one of the parameters of health.

It allows the flow of energies in our bodies. If it isn’t flowing well, our health suffers.

When we look closer at what happens when a living structure is deprived of its own bio-magnetic field, you will understand how important it is to have it in working order. Dr. Quiquandon, a French veterinarian and the father

of modern Geobiology, did an experiment with a tree that was going to be cut down. He put a copper wire on the root and connected it to a branch at the top of the tree. After a month, the tree died. What happened? The energy circulating up the center of the tree was cut or short-circuited by the wire running the electricity from the root to the top of the tree. Because of this bypass of electromagnetic energy, the tree was deprived of its essential life force energy, which naturally goes up its central channel and helps circulate sap and other important nutrients. One can visualize electromagnetic energy like a vortex going up the trunk and the branches, and finally traveling out the top of the tree. Because the tree was no longer able to connect to this vital force, it died.

For humans the process is the same. Our bodies need free-flowing electromagnetic energies to

maintain our health. If our polarity reverses or our electromagnetic system short circuits, we become sick. Stress is a significant cause and consequence of our body’s polarities and electromagnetic signals reversing or turning off.

There are many theories and healing modalities surrounding healing our electro-magnetic system. We know that as far back as the Egyptians, people have been working with magnets to treat illnesses. Legends talk about Cleopatra sleeping with a magnetic stone on her forehead to stay youthful. Aristotle spoke about using magnets as a healing therapy.

The body’s various polarities

and bottom, the right and left, and the front and back sides of our body. Sometimes these polarities get mixed up, usually because of stress. If the problem is not addressed, it can be the cause of blocks in healing because medications and supplements often have no effect on the reversal of polarity.

In more modern times, Dr. Randolph Stone, a doctor of osteopathy, chiropractic, and naturopathy who was dissatisfied with modern medicine, studied many non-Western approaches to health. As a result, he founded the Polarity Therapy system. He was convinced that a scientifically undetectable electromagnetic polarity in the body was the reflection of the health of a person. This energy could be influenced by many factors, including diet, touch, sound, attitude, movement, relationships and environment.

His Polarity Therapy works with the principles of moving positive, negative and neutral energy through the body, thus allowing vital life-force energy to flow freely, and balancing and removing any blockages that create sickness.1

There is a simple test to see if you have the correct polarity in the body. Just stand with your feet slightly bent and a shoulders’ width apart. Raise either one of your hands 3-5 inches above your head. Face your palm downwards. Your body will rock either forwards or backwards. Next face your palm upwards, and your body will again rock forward or backwards. When your body has the correct polarity, it will rock forward when your palm faces down and rock backward when it faces up. If it doesn’t, then your polarities are messed up.2

If you feel your polarity is reversed, practice the simple technique described in the

sidebar. This is a subtle energy technique, so pay close attention to how your body feels before and after. For example, are you more relaxed? Can you feel energy flowing through your legs or arms? Play with this technique and see what changes occur as you continue to do it each day.

Having correct polarities also helps you to body dowse with good results. You can do simple things such as holding a supplement close to your heart area and to see if your body leans forward (good for you) or backward (not good for you). This simple exercise can tell you if the supplement is right for you at this particular time. In addition, there is more sophisticated body dowsing of earth vortexes and chakras that we can use to investigate and enjoy sacred sites. With any of these techniques, the key is having the right polarity! ✦

What can we do if our polarity is reversed?

It is effortless to fix, and there are many different techniques online, but a simple and effective one to correct the imbalances and reestablish the correct flow of energy is to:

Sit in a chair with your legs extended and your back straight. Cross your ankles in whatever way feels most comfortable. Extend your arms out in front of you with the palms facing the floor, and then cross your wrists so that the top arm is the opposite of the top crossed leg. Turn your wrists inward so that your palms face each other, while maintaining the pre-determined top arm from before, now interlace your fingers. Keeping this grasp, bring your hands under and then up, to bring your clasped/interlaced hands to your chest. (You should be feeling like a pretzel about now) PRESS THE TIP OF YOUR TONGUE TO THE PALATE JUST BEHIND THE FRONT TEETH. Hold this position for several minutes.

Then, uncross your hands and feet and place your hands in a prayer position, with ONLY the fingertips touching, and your fingers spread out.

What is Weight Gain All About Anyway?

If you were to ask a thousand health or fitness professionals why someone was overweight, the majority would answer that it’s all about a slow metabolism with the second, third and fourth answers being eats too much, eats too many carbs and does not exercise enough. Sound familiar? These answers lack compassion and are negative – reflecting how people view both those who are overweight and themselves.

It’s not about eating too many carbs, being lazy or lacking self-control. Nor, is it about getting older and older people are fatter. It’s not even about hypothyroidism and definitely not about a fast or slow metabolism.

I would like to offer an entirely different perspective and over the next few months share that different perspective with you and then give practical steps that anyone can implement.

There is a starring role in weight gain – the liver. Most of the time weight gain is really about the liver. There are two other factors – the thyroid and the adrenals, but both of them lead back to the liver.

There’s a trend right now to blame weight gain on the thyroid – this is a correlation that should not be mistaken for causation – the gland is not to blame. Health care professionals began linking the thyroid with weight trouble because the thyroid is believed to be the body’s metabolism regulator. Let’s look at the use of the word metabolism – we’ve been conditioned to believe that “metabolism” is a well-understood medical fact.

We’ve grown up hearing the word used as though it is a rocksolid law of the universe, when the truth is that “metabolism” is nothing more than the antiquated discovery that the body is a living organism that assimilates food and uses it for energy – there’s no such thing as a fast or a slow metabolism. Metabolism is only a theory that has been repeated so often it sounds like fact. The truth is that many of the mechanics of how the body gains and loses weight remain medical mysteries, and metabolism is merely a convenient label. How the thyroid truly works is also not fully understood by medical research and science. Two unknowns does not make a known.

Also the adrenal-liver link – and this is where we need to be more careful: taking another part of the anatomy, the adrenals, that is also not fully understood

We’ve been conditioned to believe that “metabolism” is a well-understood medical fact … as though it is a law of the universe, when the truth is “metabolism” is nothing more than the discovery that the body assimilates food and uses it for energy. and using that mystery to throw as much as possible under its umbrella. Adrenal fatigue, elevated cortisol, high cholesterol, hormonal imbalance – these are all being blamed for slowing down someone’s metabolism so that the person holds on to a “spare tire” regardless of exercise or diet changes. This theory is also not accurate. Remember what I just said about metabolism.

Here’s why there is a correlation between thyroid issues and weight gain – because thyroid issues are viral over 95 percent of the time, and chronic viral infection weakens and burdens the liver – in part because the virus that

causes thyroid problems nests in the liver on its way to the thyroid.

When the liver gets damaged by viral activity and overloaded with its waste matter, it can’t filter as it is meant to, which leads to eventual weight gain.

And here’s why there is a correlation between the adrenals and weight gain – it is the level of excess adrenaline we are faced with that sets off a chain reaction that can lead to weight gain. That reaction begins with the stress and overstimulation of our nonstop lives – the liver does a remarkable shielding process when the adrenal glands pump out high levels of adrenaline by sponging up the adrenaline. It goes a step further by enlisting old stored hormones as bait and trap to defuse the new ones. A bonded hormone compound results and if the liver is not in good shape, it cannot flush it all out. Instead, it stores it which results in weight gain.

Liver storage is the missing link.

What weight gain really comes down to is how fast or slowly your liver functions. That is not to say that this is blaming your body for being “faulty.” It is not about genetically inheriting a liver that is either lazy or more vigorous. It is about what we have come back to in past articles – it is what our livers are up against.

If someone can eat all kinds of processed foods and not gain any weight, it is not because they have a fast metabolism. It is because their liver has not yet hit its fat-­ storing or poison-storing limitation and therefore functions at a faster pace. That does not mean their liver is not overburdened or

overstressed either. You could be thin and still have a liver illness developing or a liver complication that is causing symptoms such as high blood pressure, acne, or jaundice. Weight is about the troublemaker storage department of the liver – for the person who can eat what they want and not gain weight, it has not been compromised yet.

Compromised fat storage does not automatically mean that diet is the issue. While for some people, eating a lot of high-fat foods can certainly be a factor, several others should also be considered. Anything that overburdens the liver can be a factor. This includes toxic heavy metals, DDT and other pesticides, herbicides, fungicides – all other toxins. If any of these have built up in the liver, it can be a problem.

There is also viral and bacterial damage. One virus that should be infamous for disrupting the

liver’s functioning is Epstein-Barr.

EBV has a nesting period in the liver, during which time it can drill into the tissue and scar it, making it sluggish and damaging some of its storage capabilities. EBV also throws off poisons, excreting waste in the form of neurotoxins, dermatoxins, and viral corpses that give it more to process out and, when the liver is too overloaded for that processing, more debris gets stored within itself to protect us.

Ideally, the liver would be in robust enough shape to process fats, toxins, and hormones with ease, neutralizing and getting rid of the toxins altogether while only holding on to high-quality fats and hormones that could be useful to your body later. The reality is that for most people, the liver simply has too much to do. As a river of blood rushes into the liver, its assembly line of liver lobule workers scrambles to process and

package all the good, bad and ugly. If there is too much bad and ugly, the liver’s next best option for shielding you is to store the excess. Trying to find space for all of it and moving at only a sluggish pace becomes a challenge.

What happens is that the liver stores the excess fat cells, hormones and hormone compounds, poisons, and toxic waste matter in the same compartments that are meant for nutrients. Storing goodness and garbage together is not the liver’s normal course of action.

It is what happens to adapt and protect us: to prevent fat from getting through and gathering in your arteries and your heart, to prevent cholesterol from building, to prevent insulin resistance that leads to diabetes and so much more. As the liver is stressed, it gets weaker and more sluggish over time. Its protective processes break down. ✦

In addition, there are our self-promoting schemes and our ever-changing life-styles, replete with families and friends, restaurants and films and various cultural and endless sporting events, all of which are part of the multileveled template of distraction that we call life.

Accordingly, throughout our days, and our nights, our minds are never, ever still. The internal chatter in our heads continues to surge this way and that, dealing with our problems and our fears and our widely-flung networks of relationships with everyone, everywhere. In response to all of this, we Westerners worry... and we worry a lot.

Australian Aboriginal Wisdom

The Indigenous World This brings me to consider a quite different state of being, one that the indigenous peoples of the world know well. A state that few in the Western world remember, although as I make this statement, I have to acknowledge that those worthies who have a meditation or yoga practice will know exactly what I’m talking about.

Among some of the Australian Aboriginal peoples, this state of being is known as ‘dadirri,’ a term that literally translates into English as ‘deep listening.’ Some information about this is included in Awakening to the Spirit World [3] (by Sandra Ingerman and Hank Wesselman, 2010).

Several years ago, I received an email from some unknown soul. An unexpected missive that included the words of an Australian Aboriginal elder named Miriam Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann. I had never heard of her before, but as I read through her brief statement, I realized that her narrative was filled with power in its simplicity and directness. Miriam Rose’s message is clearly for all of us, and so I share some of it with you here enhanced by some additional information about Aboriginal thought.

For starters, Miriam Rose defines the ability called dadirri as a special quality that allows each of us to make contact with a deep spring that lies within us.

To connect with that spring requires that we achieve a state of quiet, still awareness. It is similar to what we Westerners call ‘contemplation’ or ‘meditation.’

Shamanic practitioners know it well.

Dadirr For the traditional Aboriginals, Miriam Rose proclaims that this contemplative focus permeates their entire way of life, their whole being that dadirri continually renews them on a day-to-day basis, bringing them peace, creating harmony where there is disharmony, producing balance where there is imbalance, restoring health where there is illness.

There are no great hidden truths here, no ‘secret knowledge’ hidden away for centuries, waiting for a bunch of New Age charismatics with power point

presentations to rediscover them, excavate them, and write a book about them, proclaiming them as the solution to all our problems, personal and collective.

This woman’s message conveys a simple and unmistakable truth that the practice of dadirri makes the Aboriginals feel whole again. She shares that they cannot live good and useful lives unless they practice dadirri and that they learned how to do this from their ancestors.

As a Western anthropologist who has done considerable time in the indigenous world, I can appreciate this traditional woman’s words. During my years spent among the tribal peoples of Africa, one of the things that I learned is that they are not threatened by silence. To the contrary, they are completely at home in it. Their traditional ways have taught them how to be still and how to listen to the silence. Accordingly, they do not try to hurry things up. Rather they allow them to follow their natural courses like the seasons... and they wait.

So the Aboriginal woman’s message from Australia conveys a familiar message as well as an extraordinary claim that those Aboriginals still living in their traditional lifeways don’t worry... that they never worry. They know that in the practice of dadirri the deep listening and quiet stillness of the soul-that all ways will be made clear to them in time.

The Aboriginal Perspective The traditional Aboriginals are not ‘goal oriented’ in the same way that we Westerners are programmed to be from childhood, nor do they attempt ‘to push the river’ which they know with absolute certainty is an exercise in absolute futility.

In Miriam Rose’s words: “We are like the tree standing in the middle of a bushfire sweeping through the timber. After more than 200 years of assimilationist practices inflicted upon them by church and state alike, the

Australian Aboriginals are still here. They are used to the ongoing struggle and to the long waiting. In this sense, they still wait for the white people to understand them better. They have spent many generations learning about Western ways. They have learned to speak our language and have listened to what we have to say. Yet they continue to wait for us to come closer to them. They long for those things they have always hoped for respect and understanding.

recently returned from a research expedition with an anthropological team in Australia, where he had lived for some time with a native Aboriginal community in his words, an extremely ancient race whose way of life (hunting and gathering) had not substantially changed for perhaps 35,000 years.

In Miriam Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann’s words: “We know that our white brothers and sisters carry their own particular burdens. We carry burdens as well.

Yet I believe that if they let us come to them, if they would open up their minds and hearts to us and hear what we have to say, we might lighten their burdens.

There is a struggle for all of us, but we, unlike them, have not lost our spirit of dadirri.”

“To those who judge the degree of (a) culture by the degree of (its) technological sophistication, the fact that the Australian natives live in the same fashion now as they did thousands of years ago may imply that they are uncivilized or uncultured.

She concludes her message by observing “I believe that the spirit of dadirri that we have to offer to the world will help you Westerners to blossom and grow, not just within yourselves, but within your nation as well...

“There are deep springs within each of us and within them, there is a sound the sound of the deep calling to the deep. The time for rebirth is now. If our culture and your culture are alive and well, as well as strong and respected, they will grow. In such a case, our culture will not die, nor will yours, and our spirits will not be lost. We will continue, together, as this was always meant to be.”

Aboriginal Philosophy This wonderful statement reminds me of a paper I read years ago in an anthology called Shamanism: Expanded Views of Reality edited by Shirley Nicholson (1987). The paper is titled ‘The Dreamtime, Mysticism, and Liberation: Shamanism in Australia,’ and it is authored by the Venerable E. Nandisvara Nayake Thero PhD, then the chief Sanghanayaka of the Theravada Order of Buddhist monks in India.

A former professor of comparative religion at Madras University, as well as director of the Maha Bodhi Society of Sri Lanka and secretary general of the World Sangha Council, Dr. Nandisvara had

In his report, Dr. Nandisvara makes an extraordinary statement.

“However, I would suggest that if (a) civilization be defined (by) the degree of polishing of an individual’s mind and the building of his or her character, and if that culture (reflects) the measure of our self-discipline as well as our level of consciousness, then the Australian Aboriginals are actually one of the most civilized and highly cultured peoples in the world today.”

From his conversations with their shamans and spiritual elders, Dr. Nandisvara concluded that their spiritual tradition is highly advanced and that their religious beliefs are parallel with those found in the various branches of the Perennial Philosophy.

The Aboriginal elders told Dr. Nandisvara that the spirit of a human being is always in contact with the higher spiritual realms of being, even if there may be no awareness of this contact in one’s ordinary state of consciousness. They informed him that this gives to each one of us an extraordinary gift in that there can be direct communication between the human and the divine planes of being without the need for any ecclesiastical intermediary or priest.

In other words, in Aboriginal thought, there is quite simply no great impassable gulf between the human and the divine a perception that is in direct opposition to most esoteric schools of theology, including Judeo-Christianity. This is why the Aboriginals had no need to develop any organized religion run by a bureaucratized and stratified priesthood. What they have instead is an authentic spiritual egalitarianism in which they, as individuals, can access the Dreamtime

through trance, giving them direct and immediate access into the spiritual dimensions through the shamanic techniques of ecstasy.

This ability gives them an unshakable authority to make highly evolved philosophical observations. For example, like the religious thanatologies of other spiritual traditions, the Aboriginals describe the progression of human consciousness after death as “survival in infinity.” They know from direct experience that the individual point of contact with the infinitude of cosmic consciousness continues to expand after death until it is co-­extensive with it... until it literally ‘becomes’ it.

This is not a theory for the Aboriginals, nor is it a concept. It is a percept based upon their own direct experience, a revelation that is revealed also in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. The Hindus and Buddhists use the word Samadhi to describe this state. The Aboriginals call it the Dreamtime, yet it is clear from their descriptions of it that empirically and phenomenologically, these states are the same.

Earth and Sky Philosophies Dr. Nandisvara’s essay also reports that there is a tradition of personal spiritual aspiration in Aboriginal society that is similar to that found in yoga. This is not surprising as the shamanic tradition is the ancestral precursor to all the yogic traditions.

The four stages of life in Hinduism are: ­brahmacharya-unmarried student; grihastha-­married householder with children; vanaprastha-forest dweller; and sannyasa-wanderer. During the last years of their lives, many of the Aboriginal elders leave their communities and go off alone into the mountains to engage in spiritual practices, much as in the last two stages of the Hindu system which are characterized by solitary retirement to the forest, a striving for spiritual understanding, and preparation for death.

One of the techniques reported by Dr. Nandisvara practiced by such “renunciate Aboriginal elders” is gazing at the sky with wide-open eyes. This is not a type of astronomy or astrology. Rather it is a meditative method used to obtain spiritual inspiration and intuition directly from the cosmos.

In Buddhism, Yoga, Judeo-Christianity, and other relatively recent religious systems, ‘sky philosophies’ predominate in which the concepts of space and sky deities are of greatest religious import. In opposition to this are the earlier religious as well as indigenous traditions in which ‘earth philosophies’ were the norm, focused as they were upon the Earth as Mother as well as other earthly deities, power animals or fertility goddesses as the predominate objects of reverence.

Interestingly, in Aboriginal thought, both philosophies are present. The Earth is the basis for all spiritual studies during the first and intermediate stages of life. But with the approach of life’s end, the basic Earth study is completed and there is a refocusing of the still embodied spirit of the individual toward the boundless reaches of the sky.

Thus, for the Australian Aboriginals, the highest spirituality is associated not with the Earth, but with the shamanic Upper Worlds and with the infinity of space with Cosmic Consciousness itself. This again is in complete alignment with the great teachings of the Perennial Philosophy.

At this stage, both the body and the mind have become absolutely still. This is not the same state associated with the chakras as described in kundalini yoga and the other esoteric schools, for it is beyond such experiences. It is in fact a withdrawal of energy from the charkas so that they no longer have any effect on the mind whatsoever.

This is the state of dadirri... the deep listening.

Dr. Nandisvara describes this state as the borderland between the mind that is connected to this world, and the mind that is not connected to this world the mind that is absolutely free. It is the interface been the explicate and implicate orders of reality of the physicist David Bohm... the intimate one on one connection with the ‘higher self’ of the mystic.

This is the state that the Aboriginal elders seek as they leave their homes and go off to live in the mountains to practice gazing at the sky. This is the shaman’s invitation to the spiritual cosmic force to approach and embrace the focus of our mind. It is and was and will forever be, union with the infinite authentic non-dual mysticism.

Australian Aboriginal Wisdom

Reconsidering Indigenous Wisdom It is time, I think, to acknowledge that the indigenous tribal peoples were not and are not at some child-like form of awareness. Rather, the time has come for us allegedly ‘civilized’ Westerners to seriously reconsider their worldviews and their spiritual practices. For their ways of being in the world have kept them and their societies alive and well for 40,000 years and more... while we who consider ourselves so highly evolved have only been here for a few hundred... and things are not going particularly well these days.

Dr. Nandisvara also discusses something else of interest...

Along their way to achieving the higher states of consciousness, the shamans in Aboriginal societies are able to develop various sorts of psychic abilities.

They possess, for example, the capacity to travel out of the body across the sky in an altered state of consciousness and visit any place they wish.

It is also known among the Aboriginals that their shamans can journey to the moon, or to any other planet

at any time they choose. This is why they were not particularly impressed when the Apollo missions flew to the moon and back. In fact, they failed to understand why we had needed machines to go there as they are both bulky as well as slow.

Dr. Nandisvara concludes his essay by observing (with considerable reverence) that those Aboriginals still involved in their traditional lifeways are so peaceful and quiet, as well as so harmoniously in tune with Nature and the spiritual dimension. By contrast, the rest of the world around them, including most of the so-called ‘civilized’ societies, are in crisis, dominated by murder and mayhem, political mendacity and corporate greed, with people killing each other in the name of whatever god they espouse, exploiting the environment and their fellow living beings of this beautiful world, only some of whom happen to be human.

We could observe in passing that there is little doubt that we are the Romans of our time. Is it therefore surprising that Dr. Nandisvara, who some have called the ‘Pope’ of India, has chosen to describe the native Australians as one of the most civilized and cultured peoples on the planet today? 

Hank currently lives on the Kona coast of Hawai’i with his family, where they are involved in sustainable food production on their farm in Honaunau. He continues to write and to teach workshops across the country and abroad.

A turning point can be an epiphany. When you have an epiphany at a seminar called The Turning Point, that’s the law of attraction at work.

You usually don’t see a turning point coming, but I did. My wife and I went to a seminar called The Turning Point, and it was, but not in the way we expected it to be. This was the first of two epiphanies that I had on my spiritual path that led to changes in my life and altered the course that I was taking.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Ed Langan. I am a psychic channel, master life coach, law of attraction expert, and spiritual teacher. Other than that I’m just a regular dude.

I am the author of Creating With The Law of Attraction: 10 Principles That Will Change Your Life.

This is my first column for Star Nation, and I would like to tell you about how I started on the path to becoming a law of attraction expert and a spiritual teacher.

In 2004 my wife Marj and I were starting to learn about real estate. We were sure this was our ticket.

We were learning about short sales, flipping houses, foreclosures and my favorite, FSBO’s (fizz bows, I like the sound) which stands for For Sale By Owner.

We were studying videos, CDs, and manuals, learning everything we could. As part of our training we were going to the Turning Point Seminar which was created by Marshall Sylver. Marshall is a very charismatic and successful hypnotist and entrepreneur.

The workshop was in Las Vegas, and we were able to spend a magical day at the Venetian Hotel before the workshop began. We went to the Guggenheim Museum branch that is right off the lobby. Then we wanted to see the “Italy” that they have recreated in the hotel. We had a wonderful

What is an epiphany?

It’s an aha moment; a flash of inspiration.

It’s alignment with your soul, inner-being, higher self. There is a strong flash of energy, an eagerness, an excitement, a knowing deep inside that this is the right thing. gondola ride where a handsome young man sang a love song to Marj in Italian as he paddled us through the canal. Later we had dinner in St. Mark’s Square as the simulated sunset across the ceiling. Even though it wasn’t real, it was cool. There were minstrels, jugglers, actors and a couple of weddings going on all around us.

The atmosphere was fun and festive, and we had a great time. We were having fun, and when you’re feeling good you are in alignment (allowing), and that’s when things begin to manifest.

The first day of the Turning Point Seminar was very interesting. We were hypnotized, and luckily, we were not asked to cluck like chickens. We learned about focusing, goal setting and other mindful techniques. There were definitely some paradigm shifts during the day. I remember being in the hotel that night and feeling like something was shifting. I still had no idea what was going to happen.

The next morning we were back at the seminar and Marshall called me up on stage with him.

We started talking, and right in the middle of it he said to me “You are in the wrong profession,” and I knew at that moment he was right. He said “You are a speaker. You should be speaking, teaching workshops and giving speeches.”

What is an epiphany? It is an ah-ha moment. It’s a flash of inspiration. But what is it really?

It’s alignment with your soul, inner-being, higher self—choose whatever words work for you.

You can tell that it’s alignment by the way it feels. There is a strong flash of energy, an eagerness, an excitement, a knowing deep inside that this is the right thing.

As Marshall was talking to me, I had an epiphany. I had that flash of inspiration and the energy burst that comes with it. I knew he was right. And right then and there he had me tell Marj from the stage that I did not want to do this real estate business. That I knew it was not my calling. I knew it was a means to an end, and an attempt to make money. Doing something for the simple reason of making money is a very weak energy to put out into the universe and usually does not work.

I wanted to teach! I wanted to speak! I wanted to teach workshops and change people’s lives for the better. I knew in my heart I wanted to teach the law of attraction.

On the cover of my brochure are my words, “We believe everybody deserves to know that they create their own reality.”

This was the moment that birthed that knowing. I knew that I was creating my own reality and that’s what I wanted everyone to know! I already had a very good understanding about the law of attraction because we had been studying it for quite a while.

I was deeply ensconced in the teachings of Abraham from Jerry and Esther Hicks. I had read As a Man Thinketh, Think and Grow Rich, The Power of Positive Thinking and many other books on this subject. This is what made my heart sing and this is what I wanted to teach.

This was a big turning point in my experience. At the seminar, we broke 3/4 inch boards with our bare hands and ate fire (yes, fireand I have the picture to prove it), but thanks to Marshall Sylver’s words, I was coming home with a new eagerness and a new energy.

I immediately started thinking about how to create a law

The law of attraction was the engine of life experience. This was the paradigm shift that started my passion for wanting to teach. This was my first epiphany.

of attraction workshop: how to create it in a way that people would understand that they were creating their life, whether they realized it or not. They were creating their life by default or on purpose. Either way, the law of attraction was the engine of their

life experience. This was the paradigm shift that started my passion for wanting to teach. This was my first epiphany.
