Aphrodite’s Healing Sea

In the birth of Spring, our thoughts drift to the rebirth of all life. We feel the fertility that flows through the warm breezes and plants into the soil. The days are slowly getting longer and nature is flourishing.

This is the time when the goddess, Aphrodite, sings her song of love, fertility, desire, sexuality, pleasure, and beauty throughout our realm. Her voice is channeled through all that is being reborn. When we hear the phrase, “Love is in the air,” it absolutely is and it is the breath of Aphrodite.

Aphrodite was born when her father was castrated and his genitalia were cast into the sea. She then appeared through the mist and ocean waters, a vision of pure beauty and desire as if she were a mermaid holding a scallop shell. Once she made it to shore, the land surrounding her flourished, birthing new life throughout the coast. She was a nurturing mother to all, and her grace spread like the wildflowers.

Men, women, gods, and goddesses were captivated by her beauty, falling under her spell of love, romance, passion, and desire. There are stories of her causing eruptions from her love affairs and emerges with a wild freedom that we all hold. She is also known to be the goddess of the prostitutes, removing any guilt and all judgments from their temples, allowing them to delve into pleasure without pain. She is a protector and prosecutes anyone who harms another sexually.

You can work with Aphrodite in love and romance spells, glamour magic, and to bring beauty into your energy.

This energy is not to be taken lightly or to be looked through as being on the surface. Her energy You can work with is felt deep within the sacred chambers of your heart and is connected with the sacral chakra. It embodies empowerment, strength, and confidence. It also assists with eliminating self-judgments and encompasses you in a beautiful magic.

Most of us associate Aphrodite with sex and desire initially. It is the nurturing mother portion of her that is at times overlooked, but it is such an enchantment to work with. Her energy feels supportive and so gentle as she embraces us. So, while she is amazing to work with for passion and pleasure; she is also perfect to work with for inner child work.

Working with your inner child also brings the fun and excitement back into life. As adults we tend to take things so seriously and get into the routines of daily living. Our inner child reminds us to play and bring joy into our daily practice. Some experiences that we have are challenging, but they are ours. They are new and if we bring in the curiosity element from our inner child then we can learn and dive deeper into the lesson. So how can Aphrodite assist with this?

When we begin reconnecting with our inner child and forming the bond, we may feel vulnerable, unsafe, and even untrusting. There have been times for me personally when I have reached out my hand to my younger self and she would not go with me. She felt afraid and uncomfortable, as if I didn’t trust myself.

This is a perfect time to ask for Aphrodite to come forth. As a nurturing mother of love, she will embrace the relationship, allowing the inner child to feel protected and loved. Her energy is gentle and safe, allowing you to have the space to reconnect the bond of youth.

As she emerged from the sea, a great way to bring Aphrodite into the experience is in a bath ritual. Let us begin to transform in the healing waters.
