Self-Discipline & the Spiritual Path

By Yvette Neshi Lokotz Do you believe we have choices? Do you believe you create all the events in your life?

Now, we may not be facing dark and difficult times every day, but as lightworkers, healers, and energy workers we are faced with the conscious choice to “Do no harm” in the spiritual work we do every day.

I have a strong belief that when we decide, when we choose to accept to use our innate gifts of intuition, healing, and other ways of working with energy, we begin to know that we are interconnected to everything. This knowing we are connected means our actions affect not only other humans but all of creation.

When we choose to pick up the “medicine path,” we are awake and conscious of our ability to interact with all of creation. We are aware of the why and how we influence the environment around us.

To be an effective energy worker and lightworker, we learn about our self-discipline. We learn how very little control we have over the flow of energy.

But, we also discover that we do have control over how we choose. We learn how to make “conscious choices”.

As we practice the different methods and modalities of working with energy, we quickly learn that we need to know about boundaries, we need to know about protection, and we need to know about karma. All of these “need to know” items are based on self-discipline.

I also believe that self-discipline comes with metaphysical ethics. In the use of the phrases, “Do no harm” and “All My Relation/Relatives,” we are thinking and saying much more than the simple phrases imply on the surface.

When you choose to “Do no harm” to others in your spiritual work, whether your decision is conscious, unconscious, or subconscious, you are stating to all of creation and to the Creator that you are taking responsibility for your gifts. You decide to use your gifts in the Light (positive) or the Darkness (negative). In other words, you are choosing to use your gifts as Good Medicine or as Bad Medicine.

This choice to “Do no harm” is more challenging than we think. Every day, with every breath, as humans, we are faced with this choice multiple times per day. We choose our thoughts to be kind and loving. For example, you are in a hurry and the line at the grocery store is moving slowly due to another person arguing with the check-out clerk. Your thoughts go to blaming, shaming, and disliking that person because they are slowing you down. This example is seemingly innocuous, but

There are some choices we make very easily, while others cause us to pause and debate which way to go. There is a line spoken by Dumbledore in the movie, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, that speaks to this debate. The quote is, “Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.”

This sums up the choices we are faced with nearly daily.

In this issue of Star Nations Magazine, we bring you articles about Purim, St. Patrick’s Day, Equinox, Importance of Name, Prayer, Goddess of Fertility, Self-Discipline in Metaphysics, and Forests.

If you have been around metaphysical groups, I am sure you have heard or read the Lakota, Sioux, expression of “Mitakye Oyasin - All My Relation.” In Potawatomi, my tribal Nation, we have a similar phrase, “Jage Nagonan”. This Native American phrase holds immense energy. It is Big Medicine. This phrase has a deeper meaning that most non-Native people may not profoundly understand until they receive the gift of the explanation.

The explanation is akin to an attunement, a rite of passage, or an anointing. All native, indigenous languages are a light language. So, as you take in the words, you are receiving a transmission of energy. Saying or using the phrase “Mitakye Oyasin” or “Jage Nagonan” invokes an energy that touches not only you but those who receive the sound and words. (Just like right now as you read or see the written words.)

Here is the explanation of these phrases. “Jage Nagonan” and “Mitakye Oyasin” are calling to All Our Relations/Relatives, which means we are addressing not only our Ancestors, our current blood relatives, but also all life, including Earth herself. We are saying that we recognize and acknowledge our interconnectedness to all the stones, trees, plants, animals, fish, birds, insects, reptiles, stars, moon, and sun. Everything. As everything has a consciousness, a spirit, because we are all created by the Creator.

When we choose to use these phrases that contain a huge energy field and deep meaning, it is vital to have the self-discipline to choose to use these phrases to “Do no harm”.

The choice to include self-discipline in your spiritual study means you are taking responsibility for your actions and your inactions. You are establishing boundaries. You are also deciding what beliefs support your spiritual growth.

All of these decisions and actions actually help you to walk the path you have chosen to experience your physical life and how to express your innate gifts.

As we use our gifts, we are expressing our soul.

This soul expression is what it means to shine your Light.

As you run your bath begin to talk to the goddess and your inner child. Ask that she join you in rekindling the relationship with nurturing love. Add your salt and roses to the water. Place your shell between the two candles as an offering. When you are ready step into the tub and carefully light one candle for you and the other for Aphrodite.

Now relax in the bath and close your eyes. Place your hand onto your heart and flow into the sacred ocean of your heart where you will find Aphrodite holding your inner child.

Allow the experience to unfold. When you are done express your gratitude to Aphrodite and to yourself, open your eyes, and snuff the candles if you are not comfortable with allowing them to burn out.

Air dry as you write down anything that came to you during your time so you can continue to build with your inner child. Playing and laughing while you search the unknown freely with love.

Adriane say, to truly see something for what it is, to look at it through a child’s eye. A child’s vision is so clear and pure. It is untainted by beliefs, conditions, and society, holding such curiosity and wanting to dive into the unknown, and solving every mystery.

Working with your inner child also brings the fun and excitement back into life. As adults we tend to take things so seriously and get into the routines of daily living. Our inner child reminds us to play and bring joy into our daily practice. Some experiences that we have are challenging, but they are ours. They are new and if we bring in the curiosity element from our inner child then we can learn and dive deeper into the lesson. So how can Aphrodite assist with this?

When we begin reconnecting with our inner child and forming the bond, we may feel vulnerable, unsafe, and even untrusting. There have been times for me personally when I have reached out my hand to my younger self and she would not go with me. She felt afraid and uncomfortable, as if I didn’t trust myself.

Spring is around the corner! That means it is time for the Festival of Purim, a time filled with fun celebrations and delicious foods.

This is a time when we remember Queen Esther and her commitment to her people, the Jews.

According to http://www.beingjewish.com/, “Purim is about how God is hidden in everything.

God performs miracles for us, all behind the scenes.” The main people in the Purim story are the King, Queen Esther, Mordecai, and Haman.

It was during the time that the Jews were in Exile in Babylon, after the destruction of the first Holy Temple. Cyrus, King of Persia, had permitted the Jews to rebuild the Holy Temple. His usurper/successor, King Ahasuerus (Xerxes), put a halt to the rebuilding. He felt it would diminish his own power.

around his neck. It is against Jewish law to bow down before idols. So Haman decided to kill Mordecai for refusing to kneel and all the other Jews as well.

The Jews recognized their error in attending the King’s party, decided to make amends by fasting for three days and repenting.

In the Book of Esther, in the Bible, Mordecai pleads with Queen Esther to intervene on behalf of her people with the King. “…if you keep silent in this crisis, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another quarter, while you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows, perhaps you have attained to royal position for just such a crisis.” (Esther 4:13-14).

The Queen did plead with the King to free her people, as she told the King the truth of Haman’s actions against her people as well as the loyalty of Mordecai to the King. She did this at a banquet which is why when we celebrate Purim it focuses on a feast and celebrating.

I’d like to share with you a recipe for Kreplach, a popular food during Purim. It looks and tastes a bit like Chinese dumplings or pot stickers. You may fill them with cheese, a meat concoction, or just vegetables. I use a Gluten Free recipe for the wrappers, but you can purchase wrappers at the grocery store, they are usually made with wheat flour (and are also used for egg rolls).

KREPLACH the dough is used to make approximately 10 Kreplach wrappers.

Before they dry out, use the wrappers or you may cover them and refrigerate for 3-5 days until ready to use in your recipe. They will get somewhat more fragile with refrigeration, so bring them to room temperature before rolling and spritz with more water if necessary.

Makes 10 Kreplach wrappers; recipe is easily doubled.

Kreplach Filling Meat Filling

Gluten Free Wrappers 1 cup Gluten Free All Purpose Flour 1⁄4 tsp. sea salt 1 egg + 1 egg white 2 Tbs. water

2 tablespoons corn or vegetable oil 3/4 cup finely chopped onion 1/2 pound chopped meat (chicken, pork, or beef) 1 egg yolk 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

Preparation

Whisk together flour and salt in a small bowl; in a separate bowl combine the eggs and water. Slowly stir the egg mixture into the flour with a fork and mix until a sticky dough forms. Divide the dough in half and cover one half while working with the other.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet; sauté onions until nicely browned, remove with a slotted spoon, and set aside.

Add meat to the pan and sauté on high heat, stirring frequently until all meat is browned. Put the onions back in, sauté with meat, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Season as you wish. Let cool.

Prepare a clean counter or pastry mat by generously flouring it with more gluten free flour. Flour a rolling pin as well, then turn one half of the dough out onto the floured mat and roll gently in each direction until the dough is evenly thinned, almost so thin you can see through it.

Measure 4 1⁄2 – 5 inch squares and cut with a pastry cutter or butter knife. Layer each square on top of each other on a plate and cover with a damp tea towel while preparing the remaining dough. Re-roll the dough scraps to create more wrappers, so that all

Take one wrapper and place it on a lightly floured surface.

Place a flatware size teaspoon of filling in the center of the square and fold diagonally to create a triangle.

Seal the edges with egg mixture.

Bring a pot of water to a vigorous boil, add 1 tablespoon salt, drop in the kreplach, and cook for 20 minutes. Serve in chicken soup or with sautéed vegetables.

A Star Nations listener recently wanted clarification on a reading they received on Soul Connections. They were guided to work on balancing their spirituality and their daily life, as well as working on becoming more grounded for their health and well-being. They asked me in a private message how to do just that.

As the planetary energy moves and shifts, the practice of balance truly begins to impact your health and well-being.

Most people understand that expanding your connection to the Divine will bring about a sense of peacefulness, but many have yet to learn that expanding your peacefulness can more fully connect you to the Divine. The more you become centered in your well-being, the more your intuition opens, the more you can truly connect with who you are.

As someone who works and practices this every day and who can often feel the moment when things tilt out of balance, I tried to look back to how I began and what brings me balance now. Not an easy task for certain! As I was jotting some ideas to help the listener, the Ancient One chimed in that we would discuss this in detail for this month’s ­article. Expanding Your Well-Being Through Spiritual Practice

nudges. Sometimes you need a fever or the flu to stop all the doing and take care of your being.

Sometimes the only way that you’ll take a break is to go to the hospital, even though a tropical vacation might be a whole lot more fun. Choices. It’s all about choices.

This also happens with your emotional and mental bodies. How much rest can you get when your head is spinning with worry, anxiety, or nervousness about the unknown? When your adrenal glands are running at top speed? Your thoughts create your reality. When they are spinning, the Universe is trying to assist you in all that you are creating. Just imagine all the creation energy that is being expended that could be going to support you in your well-being.

So, how can you create inner peacefulness that can radiate out into all aspects of your life?

There are many ways, each as unique as yourself.

Here are just a few ways to get started. Then use your wonderful creation energy to create your own peace and happiness, which comes to you when you are in harmony with the Divine within you.

Create sacred spaces wherever you would like the Divine to enter. They can be at home, work, outdoors, anywhere that you would like the opportunity to call your spirit into balance. This is simply a space that you create with intention and meaning for you. It does not have to have religious objects on it. It can simply bring you joy and peace whenever you look at it. Outdoors you may gather stones, wood, flowers, or create a fire pit to gather your thoughts around. Again, it is about the intention you choose for the space and your continual honoring of that intention through your usage.

Treat your body like the Divine temple or vehicle that it is. You often treat your car with more care than your body, which you will drive for much longer! This means feeding yourself nourishing foods, less that come from boxes, bags, and cans. Drink the life-force energy that comes from water. Treat water with respect, as without it your physical body would perish. Move your body in ways that fill you with joy. Dance, skip, and play as you move. Stretch the body to show yourself all the wonderful ways that you

can move it. Sleep fully and deeply, so the body can have time to rest and recuperate from all the doing. When you have open communication with your body on what it needs and wants, illness will slide into the background.

Avoid overstimulation. This creates a toxic environment for your nervous system, and it makes it difficult for the adrenal glands to recalibrate with continuous exposure.

What does this mean?

Start with monitoring your time connected to all the technological devices.

Computers, phones, video games, and television can all overstimulate your energy system. Remember that thoughts create your reality. What you see becomes part of your reality, even if it is fake reality. The stress that can be induced from violence, frightening things, and especially fear, begin to take a toll on your body at a rapid rate.

Detoxify from this when you feel stressed. Take a technology timeout to return your energy to its quiet state.

Also avoid people and situations with dense energy. These are places that feel negative, are filled with fear, or drain your energy. It is not about blame. Instead, focus on energy, ideas, thoughts, and beliefs that fill you with joy and light.

This is not to say that dense energy is wrong or bad. It is to say concentrate on living your life in

as much love and joy energy as possible. This takes practice for most people. Invite the possibility that this can happen for you and honor each time things simplify and feel less heavy.

Your well-being will help you connect to light and bright energy when you create this shift for yourself.

Remember that you are not alone on this journey.

There are people to support you if you are willing to ask for help.

As you expand your well-being, you will also become more aware of your spiritual team and all that they are ready to assist you with. Again, all you need to do is ask. They will not read your mind to figure it out for you. It is up to you to accept help in all areas of your life. As you expand into this concept, help will be offered frequently. Do you honor yourself enough to receive it? That is where the difficulty often lies.

Finally, there is no right or wrong way to expand your health and well-being to connect more fully with your Divine self.

You are each unique and have your own path to Spirit. The guidance offered here is for you to hear or not. For those who choose to listen, you are already on your way to expanding into your truth.

When you begin to ‘feel’ your sense of wisdom, inner spirit, independence, and flow as a natural movement versus thinking those experiences, you are starting to activate and listen to your essence of the way your destiny path moves or what supports it for humanity.

When we listen to essence through stillness, we are connecting to our soul wisdom through holographic imprints of the sacred spiral alignment.

Changes then arrive as initiation through a natural shift without having to make a mental choice to fit into a form of expectations.

When you move from choice to shift it will partly occur when you are ready to embody surrender and willing to know that you are supported without the interference of the ego and the mind babble control of society.

You will experience the most about yourself from listening to essence by sitting in the wild forest and navigating into the deep awareness of silence.

When you practice to become what you cannot hear and see, you will arrive in the experience of your inner spirit and presence, which are the same awareness. When I speak about the experience of inward, which is different than within, this is the arrival point. “Within” is traveling to a physical

mind point of a condition whereas “inward” is the awareness that you are present at the point of your inner spirit. This is about arriving in the magical forest of your heart and activating it through all presence time and space of your life and for humanity.

The challenge of the practice is the noise of the human egoic world, the addiction to the thinking mind and fearful infusion of the wild heart and the shamanic soul of interconnectedness. The forest is the elder, wisdom keeper, and the magic medicine holder of healing love for humanity for the Great Mother.

Be still beyond the human awareness of stillness and the essence of the earthwalker in your heart and blood will arrive in the middle of the noise.

Seek to understand through the deep heart and everything you need for humanity and longevity will arrive. This is the practice of simply being with your essence of the soul movement and awareness. This is surrendering even deeper without thinking or feeling and experiencing the silent presence of your true nature; while you practice, you are activating your essence as you walk the earth in physical form.

The more we practice the experience of essence, to what we cannot define or hear, the more we open healing and vibration to a world that is peaceful, kind, and infinitely illuminated of natural love through essence. Essence is the source of our existence. Essence does not need to be created or discovered, everything that we are is breathing and existing inside essence.

What’s in a Name?

In certain lives we have chosen to be born male and in others female. This is due to wanting to understand the effect of human biology on our soul’s expression as a representative of that gender, and within the family system. Unhealed experiences from the past will often arise for healing resolution in our current lifetime.

The names we are given at birth, and those we adopt through marriage directly impact our

karmic experiences. Certain names elicit strong emotions due to their associations. Studies have tracked the cultural trends of naming based on weather events, pop culture icons, and even color popularity. For example, Katrina has not been a popular name in Louisiana in the wake of the 2005 destructive hurricane there, and the name Adolf has been assigned to male children less than any other since World War II.

Names carry the energy of the genealogical lineage which preceded them. If you are a parent, think about when you were contemplating names for your child.

How many options got vetoed due to an association with a peer from childhood, a less-than beloved ex or relative, or even a pet. Conversely, you may have decided to name your children after relatives you hold in high regard, wishing to publicly honor them and naturally instill the revered characteristics.

Before we incarnate into a human body, we choose a number of contracts with lessons for our soul’s growth. Integral to those choices are our gender, body type, sexuality, and the desired balance of the masculine and feminine energies within.

Challenges I have experienced in this life have arisen to heal internally what is exhibited externally. I chose to be born into a petite female body with a feminine appearance to come to value the divine feminine. This has been difficult due to living in a patriarchal society, the victimizing experiences I have had as a female, and the honoring of traditional male traits in my family. I have to give my guides credit for such a humorously blatant exhibit of the struggle.

When I asked the Angels what they would like to share about the impact of a name, they showed me each compilation of letters with a vibration around it. Certain names are bright and sparkling while others are written in bubble letters surrounded by soft colors.

Others are simply words without a strong energetic attachment.

When I asked why this is the case, they explained each person is a representative in this life of their soul. There are many decisions to make about the weight objects, ideas, and

relationships will make to influence the course of one’s life. A soul who knows it will be given a family name, or one with great historic significance, is doing so as a way of stepping into the archetype of the name’s energy.

Those born or who marry into royalty assume a great burden, for they must learn to be themselves while carrying the weight of the title they hold.

Even if one is not royalty, each family is its own kingdom with its own expectations of governance and expression. To live as a member of that family implies adherence to the norms. Those who seek to live more as an individual and less tied to the tribe choose a hero’s journey due to facing alienation and abandonment in favor of their personal divine mission. Their journey often leads them back to their family as more healed representative.

If you are someone who isn’t fond of your name, it could be due to a number of factors: the inherited karma or trauma of your name; the expectations your parents had of someone with your given name; or the healing you are being called to do regarding acceptance and rejection.

To gain an understanding of the impact of your name on your soul’s journey, you can sit in meditation and ask yourself the following questions: 1. Do you like your name?

2. What do your first and last names mean to you.

3. Are you named for someone?

If so, what connection do you feel to that person or archetype?

4. Do your names give you a sense of comfort, belonging, or strength?

5. Why did you choose your name as part of this human experience?

6. How can you heal the karma associated with your name along your and your spouse’s lineage?

Your name is a representation of your soul’s incarnation in this life. It carries beautiful healing lessons for you and your family.

What you heal within extends to all who have held your name, and who have lived through the challenges you assumed as part of your journey. You heal for future generations and the collective. Live your name as the loving unique expression of the divine you embody.

The Luck of the Irish One evening, last month, the saying “The luck of the Irish” popped into my head.

Hmm! That sounds like a great title for my next article.

When I think of the Irish, a smile comes across my face because, fun and warmth comes to mind. I went to school with many Irish. My first love was Irish. Our school name St. Mary, Star of the Sea and our logo was the Celts. Plus, deep down, I have a feeling of the Celtic in my lineage.

Day or the sports teams the fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Boston Celtics.

You may have come across numerous sayings, lyrics and proverbs by the Irish. Some are humorous, some profound. Here are a few:

Edward T. O’Donnell, author of “1001 Things Everyone Should Know about Irish American History” says the saying became an expression in the 19th century. According to him, many famous and successful miners during the gold and silver rush years were Irish by birth. Luck became associated with them.

“May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been, the foresight to know where you are going, and the insight to know when you have gone too far.”

“If you are Irish, YOU are Lucky enough.”

“Wherever you go, whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you!”

“A sunbeam to warm you, good luck to charm you; a sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you; Laughter to cheer you, faithful friends near; and whenever you pray, heaven to hear you.”

Yet, others believe the saying goes back to Ireland.

You’re lucky just to visit Ireland. You are greeted by happy, hospitable people, ready to invite you in to chat and have a cup of tea. As you walk the lush thick forest with their magnificent trees, it’s as though the “Faery folk” are peaking out at you. The deep green grass draws you in, only to find you are lying in a bed of shamrocks. Maybe, you’ll be lucky enough to find a four leaf clover representing love, hope, faith and of course, luck.

Or, maybe you’ll spot a leprechaun with his pot of gold.

Probably, the most well known saying is “The luck of the Irish.” Many believe that the saying is of American origin. It usually surrounds St. Patrick’s

Ireland.com states, “In Ireland, you find a story under every step, even the stones tell tales. Watch your feet! You could be tripping over a legend.”

In the 5th century, Christianity was again brought into Ireland by missionaries. As much as the Christians tried, they were unable to totally wipe out the pre-existing folklore; beliefs in God-like fairies and the ancient Gaelic traditions.

One of the best examples of this is in “The Colloquy of Antients.” In this colloquy, St. Patrick and fairies are both featured. One dialogue shows St. Patrick and the ghost of Cailte of the Fianna (an ancient clan of Celtic warriors) dialoguing.

The word luck is of unknown origin. Middle Dutch says it comes from the word “luc” which is short for “gheluc.” Its meaning is happiness or good fortune.

The myth of Irish history is Celts. The Celts ancient teachings are derived from the tribes of Ireland; Gaels, Gauls and Galantine’s. Could “gheluc” and Gaelic be the same?

Maybe “The Luck of the Irish” comes from their respect for the ancient ways. “Faery rings” are not to be taken lightly. They are said to be sacred circles and if disturbed will anger the fairies. You might be driving down a straight road and all of a sudden a circle appears. A “faery ring” grows there. Go around, do not disturb.

Even though the majority of the population residing in The Republic of Ireland is Catholic, current Irish folklore is steeped in legends, symbolism, magic and the supernatural. This includes lessons of morality and spiritual beliefs, creating a “singular brand of fairy tale tradition.”

According to Hamid Bey, founder of Coptic Fellowship International, the British Isles were first introduced to Christianity around 33AD by St. Mark the Evangelist. He later founded the Coptic Church of Alexandria, Egypt.

The seamrog or shamrock goes back to the Celtic times. The Druids of pagan Ireland believed three to be a significant number and the Irish had many triple deities. Legend credits St. Patrick with teaching the Irish about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity showing people the shamrock, a three-leafed plant, using it to illustrate the Christian teaching of three persons in one God. This story first appears in writing in 1726. The shamrock became the main symbol for St. Patrick’s Day. Another connection between Christianity and the old ways is the Celtic cross. It was created by Saint Patrick. He combined the Celtic circle and the cross. His reason for combining them was to give the newly converted pagans the idea of being included.

Irishcentral.com states “The symbolism of the Celtic cross is indicative of the human desire to know and experience the unfolding mystery of life. The arms of the cross offer four ways to Ascension, an invitation to objectively know nature, wisdom, god/ goddess and the self. The circles around the intersection of the cross represent unification, totality, wholeness and inclusion.”

The symbol has appeared in many ancient cultures.

It represents the four cardinal signs and the four elements of earth, fire, air and water.

Before Christianity, the Irish were polytheistic; worshipping several gods. Their teachings came from Celtic mythology. The ancestors of the Milesian (Celtic) tribes are said to be the offspring of the Gaelic Celts. But further back in history, the Celts were offspring of the Tuath De Danaan.

The Mystery School

They were a supernatural race according to Irish mythology. Their pantheon appears throughout the Celtic world.

Christianity did not close the Irish population’s minds. Many believe in magic and the supernatural pantheon. One of the most noted goddess is Danu, the mother goddess of Tuatha De Danaan.

She is the mother of the Irish gods and faery people and considered the “Great Mother” of Ireland. Other names for her are; Dana, Anu or The Universal Mother, Ana, Duna (Hungarian) and Donau (German). Many of her teachings still live on today.

Are you lucky? If not, would you like to be? Ask yourself if you are open to the outer and inner worlds of yourself? Do you communicate with the nature spirits, the angels, neters and the Divine on all levels? If not, would you like to? What would happen if you did connect? What would life bring?

Take a chance. What can it hurt? Study the old and new teachings of your “tribe” or “tribes.” Look back into your ancestral line. Ask that the highest Light in your lineage to communicate with you. You may be surprised with what you’ll discover.

The most noted gods of Tuatha De Danaan are Dagda and Lug. Dagda is portrayed as a father figure, king and druid. He is associated with fertility, agriculture, manliness, strength, magic and wisdom.

Lug is known as the sun god and a fierce warrior; the god of storms and thunder. He is associated with raven, crow, lynx and magic hound. He possesses a invincible, magical spear of the treasures of Tuatha De Danaan.

So, did the saying The Luck of the Irish originate in America or Ireland? It’s fun to speculate but it really does not matter.

Maybe, The Luck of the Irish can be attributed to their openness to the world around them and their willingness to incorporate the new with the old religions, mythologies, legends and beliefs.

The Influence of Water There are many fascinating ways our ancestors used water; in this article, we will explore a few of them. But first, we need to start with the earth. It gives us life, nourishment, and sustains us in surprising ways. Emitting from the center of our planet is radiation; our bodies need this energy to live a healthy life. We also need radiation from the sun and the cosmos because we are children of the earth, the sun, and the universe. area, meaning no subterranean influences are present, our endocrine glands normally secrete, as you can see in this diagram by Dr. Endrös.

When we are over a water vein, it is a different story.

A critical study found in the book of Dr. Robert Endrös, Die Strahlung der Erde and Ihre Wirkung auf das Loben, gives us some clues. He discovered that if you don’t have your dose of average earthly radiation, your immune system and the endocrine glands shut down. Our body becomes ill. Clinton Ober also proved this in his studies of earthing found in his book, Earthing, the Most Important Health Discovery Ever!

The earth has other subterranean influences that affect us and this healthy radiation. One of these is water veins flowing inside the earth. They flow at different depths and have different characteristics. But more importantly, water veins block the radiation coming from the center of our planet.

What happens is that the earth’s radiation goes around the water vein and is concentrated at the sides, as you can see in the picture. You can also see there is a depression of the earth’s radiation where the water vein blocks it.

This affects our body in significant ways. When we are in a neutral

Probably, in the beginning, these people recognized that they could use water and infuse it with herbs for healing. They carved cup-like shapes in stones. What is interesting about these cups is that they were carved with a specific measurement, one that related to a particular chakra or organ system.

2-3 times more than in the neutral zone, which is very stressful. The sexual glands are affected as well and are barely visible, which translates to no sexual desire!

Our ancestors knew about the negative qualities of living over water veins. In many traditions around the world, it was forbidden to build over water veins. For example, people would watch where their animals slept, because animals instinctively find places to sleep where their energy can recharge, and built there.

Other cultures used divination priests to study the entrails of sacrificed animals before settling in a place. The Romans called these people Haruspex, and the divination methods continued well into the Middle Ages.

But water is also considered by most ancient cultures as holy and was so important that it was given god-like status. Everywhere around the world, you can find

water gods and goddesses. They take the form of gods of the oceans like Poseidon.

Then there are the gods or goddesses of water connected to fertility and rain. One example is Tläloc, the Aztec god. We also find goddesses of big rivers like Sequana, the Gaulish goddess of the River Seine.

Many times, rivers were depicted as serpents or dragons. The Celts even named the underground energies Vouivre and represented them as snakes or dragons with wings. These Vouivre were often very powerful and could be very wide, even exceeding one hundred meters wide.

It is essential to understand that our ancestors knew about these underground water influences and used them to their benefit.

We know this by what was left behind. Let’s journey back to Neolithic times and see what they knew about water.

You can take this further and say they created megalithic hospitals.

For example, there is a place in Catalonia Spain called the Cova d’en Daina. There you can find stones with little cups carved in them and at the center is a menhir with a seat carved in it. When you sit on the menhir, you are also connected to each of the cup-stones. It is a very powerful experience for healing.

Other places have stones that are carved like a bathtub. When you investigate the energetic qualities, you find the chairs and bathtubs were connected to chakras or systems in the body like the kidneys, liver, lungs, or fertility. In Malta, at the Kordin III Temple at Paola, we find a boat shape with partitions.

Each one has a different energetic quality.

Next, megaliths were built, and the first were menhirs. These standing stones were always placed over subterranean water veins. At least two water veins were used. As we learned earlier, water veins are a depression of the earth’s normal radiation and magnetic energy. This depression attracts lightning.

Earth Energies

To avoid lightning strikes, the Neolithic people learned that by placing a stone over this crossing of water, it neutralizes the effect and creates life-enhancing energy. Neolithic people were the first masters of energetic geometry. They measured the stones exactly to match the length and width of the two water veins The height of the stone also was significant and corresponded to the depth of the first water vein.

They even knew how to tilt the stone to achieve the best energy.

Correct alignment of the menhir is something modern people re-erecting standing stones of the past generally don’t know or understand, which is a shame because the energetic quality of the stone is lost!

Kerloas, a stone of 9.5 meters in height. There are two bumps carved on opposite sides of the stone. One is for men’s fertility and the other for women. The stone is over a big fertility water vein as well.

As we travel forward in time, we can see the next wave of Neolithic people building dolmens and covered passageways.

They used their knowledge of water as well. Dolmens were

oriented with the opening on a big water vein that ran the length of the dolmen.

One exceptional example in La Roche aux Feés in Brittany, it is precisely placed on top of a big fertility water vein. The stones on either side were placed on top of the edges of this water vein. There are also more fertility waters running perpendicular. What the exact purpose of building these structures is a mystery, but with all

We all know about holy wells and how they can heal. Different springs have specific healing qualities. One spring could be good for the eyesight, another for burns. The key is to realize that not all water is the same. There are even different types of fertility waters. One for men’s fertility issues, another for women’s, still others have life-enhancing energy.

Neolithic people recognized this and erected stones over fertility waters. One such menhir is called

which refines the energy of the place and raises the vibration.

The central enclosure would have the highest vibration and is where the baptism took place. The site of baptism was built in a hexagonal or octagonal shape.

In the Master Builder tradition, both of these polygons are connected to water. The octagon is even used to imprint information into the body. Certainly, the builders built the Baptisteries over at least one good quality water vein with special qualities that influenced the energy of the baptism. that fertility water, we can imagine they did rituals for the fertility of their people.

Water is also connected to rituals, purification, and spiritual life. We can imprint or infuse information into water. You can imagine in ancient times that water was infused with the energy of the sun. Special times of the year were something our ancestors were well aware of, and they oriented their structures to solstices and equinoxes.

The classic example is Newgrange in Ireland. It is oriented to the winter solstice sunrise.

Imagine a bowl of water placed at the end of the corridor to catch the first light of the sun. This water would have the energetic imprint of the returning light of the sun and could be used in a ritual.

Christians are connected to rituals of water as well. In the 4th – 6th centuries in France, there were specific places built for baptism, called Baptisteries. These places were usually built on Roman sites and were used solely for submersion baptisms.

Can a Name Define You?

Remember the saying, “A rose by any other name, is still a rose”? I believe this means that it doesn’t matter what you call a rose, it will still be a rose. I guess you could call it a bulldozer, but that isn’t correct and doesn’t change the fact that it is really a rose.

So then, do names really matter?

I remember asking my mother this question when I was about 6 years old. The reason I asked was because my 6 brothers and sisters all have a different last name than I do and I didn’t understand why. My mom explained that she was married and had 6 kids, then her husband died. She then got remarried and they had me; so because we have different fathers, we have different last names. My mom explained that it didn’t matter because it was only a name.

However, later in life, my father and I were discussing some matter where I had told my friend that I would do something with her, but then I “got a better offer” and wanted to cancel my plans with my friend. My dad told me that this was not the person I would want to be. That I had to

honor my commitments, even if a better offer came along.

He told me that I had to live by my word or my name wouldn’t mean anything. So, then I was confused. My mother told me that “it’s only a name” and that it didn’t mean anything, yet my father was telling me that your name means everything. It’s your word, your honor, and your integrity. I think that this was a lot for an 8-year-old to understand.

As I became an Animal Communicator and started having conversations with Animals, it all became much clearer. I think because Animals don’t really have much control over what they are named, they sometimes have a problem with what we call them. Not all of them, of course, but certainly some. If we, as humans, don’t like our name we can change it or use a nickname.

Communicating with Sacred Animals

Animals don’t always have that luxury unless they talk to me and I tell their owners about it.

I was talking to a horse not long ago and her person called her Sally Sassy Pants. Her name was Sally, but her person obviously added the Sassy Pants. Sally was a little rough around the edges and wasn’t being cooperative with her new people.

When I asked Sally why this was, she immediately told me that her name is not Sally. That somewhere along the line it got misinterpreted and that her name was actually Solei (as in, the Sun). She didn’t like being called Sally and she really didn’t like being called Sally Sassy Pants. She resented it, which made her resent her new people. I took a lot of time talking to Solei that day and explaining all that was happening. She immediately was grateful that she now knew what was expected of her. Her person also committed to calling her Solei and no longer would she call her Sally or Sally Sassy Pants. She also promised Solei that if she would become cooperative, she would have a wonderful life and she could even pick her own job.

Last week I received a text from Solei’s person who told me that things had changed dramatically for the better and that things were going really well.

She felt a connection now with Solei and said, what a difference that one conversation made.

This is not the first time that I have heard a story like this. In fact, just recently I talked to a Dog named Tick. Neither the Dog, nor his person really liked this name, but it was the name that came with the Dog. Tick’s person asked me to find out what Tick would rather be called. Tick said that he wanted his name to be Oliver because he thought it sounded much more sophisticated than Tick. I had to agree with him on that. However, the owner didn’t like the name. She doesn’t like her Dogs to have “people names”. She ignored the request from Oliver and continued to call him Tick. I visited with Tick the other day and he was sad that even though he was asked what he wanted to be called, that everyone had ignored his request. I felt bad for him because the truth is, he was right. Even I slipped and called him Tick at first, but he politely

corrected me. I plan to go see him this weekend and I am going to make sure that I use his chosen name. I can’t disagree with Oliver, that if we took the time to ask him what he wanted his name to be, then why wouldn’t we honor what he requested?

The list goes on of Animals that I have communicated with that did not like their name. I have heard any name from Diablo (Devil) to Fatty B to A**hole. One Dog’s name was Lunatic and she was not happy about the implication of this name.

This Dog’s person thought it was funny because she, the dog, was so hyper as a puppy. Lunatic was the one who pointed out that most puppies are hyper and that she calmed down and matured quite quickly. Lunatic’s person was open to changing her name to Luna, but the Dog wanted to get completely away from anything that sounded unflattering. So her name was changed from Lunatic to Sweet Pea. So, does our name define us? If we don’t have to live with a name we don’t like then should Animals have to? If they don’t have me to communicate to their person that they aren’t not happy with their name, they might have to. Please be kind when choosing a name for your fur family. Would you name your human child after the God of the underworld?

March is the month of Pisces, the Two Fishes, from February 18 until the Spring Equinox.

The metaphor of the Sea aptly describes Piscean energy as gently soothing but also capable of tossing waves as high as skyscrapers. Pisces is considered the zodiac sign of spirituality as well as insanity.

Pisces is the Water sign ruled by the King of the Seas, Neptune. In terms of landscape correlation, Pisces is considered the wide-open sea – deep, salty, tropical, calm, colorful, mysterious, inspiring, comforting and full of living beings, some of which thrive in deep pockets under the waves that never see the Sun’s rays.

With Pisces, treasures may be hidden in the depths of undiscovered realms; some of those realms must be reached through altered consciousness. It is believed that Pisces holds hidden gold in subconscious dreams and talents that haven’t yet emerged from our own depths. To reach that gold, we must be willing to explore the waters of the psyche.

When I think of Pisces, I consider the famously alien-looking creatures that scientists have discovered in the deepest ocean trenches. They are hidden in the depths like a murky treasure awaiting discovery.

We’re not sure what awaits, because we can’t see into the depths. We must feel our way into those realms. We might find gems and treasures or strange, gangly creatures living without the Light.

The first Mercury Retrograde of the year in the watery Sea of Pisces has likely stirred up a lot of debris in our unconscious. Many people have shared that they had “out of nowhere” experiences in which people, thoughts, situations or past relationships came out out-of-nowhere to see how steady they are now.

9 March 2020: Full Moon at 19° Virgo – The Sun and Neptune dance together in Pisces, while the Moon is holding all the Light in Virgo. Remember that not all the shiny stuff is worth the Gem of your Energy.

Hypnosis: Imagery and Disease There have been so many experiments using imagery to combat certain diseases. One of the first known clinical work of this kind that I was shown in the mid1990s came from an oncologist and a psychologist. They were pioneering the use of visual imagery as an additional treatment for cancer patients.

The first steps were to teach the patient to relax with a form of progressive relaxation. The patient would be asked to mentally picture each muscle and every muscle group and then the release of the tension in the muscles.

After achieving a state of deep relaxation, patients were then asked to picture their cancer cells as being very weak and their own white blood cells and immune system as being very strong. They were also encouraged to see their own defenses as powerful, virile warriors, and

the cancer cells and tumors as being various weak animals, such as snails and slugs, which powerful warriors can easily vanquish.

There is sound and logical reason to believe and embrace the knowingness that your

unconscious attitude toward disease plays a key role in mustering your internal forces to combat the viruses, bacteria, or tumors associated with any disease. Imagery helps create a positive unconscious attitude toward getting well.

and to help a patient relax. I am not suggesting that someone only uses hypnosis as a sole treatment for any cancer or related disease but as an adjunct therapy.

and Epigenetics explains many of the theories about this phenomenon. This is an exciting new field of research called psychoneuroimmunology.

One of their patients was a man who had cancer of the pancreas, a cancer with a recovery rate of only five percent.

How does imagery aid the body in the fight against disease? It appears that we become susceptible to diseases when our normal balance becomes disturbed. This balance is called “homeostasis.”

Homeostatic imbalance can arise from many influences, and this disrupts the body’s chemistry.

I believe that the better you can visualize your body and its problem areas, the better your unconscious mind can coordinate your internal defense forces. Your unconscious can wave the baton and, chemically, orchestrate the components of your immune system to function in harmony and with gusto.

At one point in his therapy, the patient mentally observed that many of his white knights were disappearing. A blood test confirmed that his white blood cell count was dropping. When he learned this, the man resolved to fortify his army of white knights.

Shortly, his white blood count stabilized.

A while later, he reported that his white knights were having difficulty meeting their daily quota of little critters.

One of these influences is stress.

Research has shown that excessively stressed rats secreted large amounts of corticosterone, a powerful hormone from the adrenal gland.

Normally, such hormones prevent inflammation in the body.

That is wonderful if there is an infection or injury. But too much of this hormone for too long will reduce the effectiveness of the body’s immune system.

They had to shake the bushes to scare up the creatures. An ultrasound examination the following week showed that the patient no longer had any evidence of a tumor.

Another change brought on by stress is a reduction in T-lymphocytes – white blood cells that help produce antibodies and trigger a defense against tumors. When these immune factors are lowered, bacteria and viruses gain an opportunity to multiply and create illness.

Cancer is often a complex illness, and a psychological tool like hypnosis can be used to increase the patient’s acceptance of his or her situation. It is frequently helpful as an adjunct to more standard approaches of treatment

It has become clear through continued current research around the world that the mind affects and directs these immune processes through complex neurochemical processes. The newer field of Psychobiology

There are two different ways of using imagery to work toward a goal. One method is to visualize the process or actions of achieving the success you seek.

The second type of imagery for change creates mental pictures of the goal or result as if it has already occurred. Both process imagery and result imagery are useful in reaching your goals.

There are some goals – like that of the patient with pancreatic cancer – that are better approached through process imagery.

The process was the patient imagining his immune system seeking and destroying the cancer cells.

Or, if you are trying to stop a throbbing, vascular headache, for example, you might imagine your hands and feet getting warm.

He imagined his cancer cells as armadillos and his white blood cells as white knights. The knights would charge through his system, spearing the armadillos with their lances, and each knight had a quota to fill.

Your suggestions and process imagery could involve all your senses. You might visualize yourself with gloves on, sitting in front of a fireplace. You could imagine hearing the crackling of the wood, smell the pine burning.

You could mentally feel the heat from the fire and “see” the glow of the hot coals.

Suppose your goal is to drop weight. You could imagine yourself as being thin, visualize yourself fitting into a dress or suit you have seen that is the size you wish to become.

Mentally picture yourself reflected in a mirror or a window, trim and lean as you wish to be. This is a result of imagery. It is only one of several strategies for weight reduction. You use imagery to lead you to the result you seek.

It has been found that many headaches respond to this treatment. This is an indirect method of using imagery as part of a process to achieve a goal – headache relief.

“Result imagery” would have you picture yourself doing, appearing, or reacting in the way you wish as if your goal has already been accomplished. If you are working on more self-confidence, you might imagine yourself having boldly asked for a deserved raise in pay. Or, perhaps imagine yourself having confidently given a speech, hear the applause, and imagine the positive outcomes of your presentation, such as being elected to the post you were seeking or getting a raise in pay from your employer.

Studies have shown that visualizing an activity produced small but measurable reactions in the muscles involved in the imagined activity. When you conduct a mental rehearsal of something, you are implanting a learned memory of a successful action.

You are also informing your

Within the same trance session, I use process imagery - seeing yourself eating smaller portions of food, feeling full, and leaving food on your plate, closing the refrigerator door between meals with empty hands. These are process images and reinforce the positive processes you need to go through to reach your result. Process imagery is used to implant post-hypnotic suggestions for how you will act after your hypnosis trance.

Prayers, Offerings, Sage & Cedar

By Tony Cherette Prayer is a topic that has so many lenses to look through. There is no shortage of information on how prayer is used by many cultures around the world and how prayer assumes many guises and forms. In fact, from a person who is a Buddhist chanting their prayers to a person bowing to Mecca and offering their respect and supplication, prayer is one of the oldest known forms of communication known to humankind.

For people who may have grown up here on Turtle Island (North America), prayer has generally been seen within the province of the European Christian religion. That particular religion has many branches starting with Protestant, Catholic, and iterations in between. Since 1492 when Xtopher Columbus was rolling around enacting edicts and papal bulls, people have been diligently praying for many different things.

When a child is born in Native country, dependent upon the tribe or tribe’s cultural ways, many things are put into motion.

Can we track back a quick second to simply talk about the pre-birth situation and how it involves prayer?

When a spirit decides to make its descent into or onto this land, it will sometimes appear to a potential parent in a dream. Yes, in an actual nighttime dream.

Signs or omens are oft-times present to help this new “family” figure out the how and when of a successful join. What that means is Asema (tobacco) is offered, and prayers are uplifted to that soul who is considering making a journey into the family. This leads us right back into the complexity of prayer and its guises here. Let’s explore.

Speaking of Columbus, I’d like to talk a moment about how Native American people, or Indigenous folks, have traditionally prayed on this land since 1492 and prior. To some, those Native ways of prayer may seem like a very deep mystery involving Cedar, Sage as well as Sweat Lodges.

In fact, many times, this is how the first contact is made between a soul and its potential parent(s). That dream is considered the message from the ancestors in answer to a person’s prayer. Once the dream is pondered, it is sometimes shared with an Elder or wise person for interpretation and guidance.

Fast forward if you will to the birth of the child, and you will find prayers are sent upon and through Eagle feather(s), cedar, sage, or any combination of the four sacred medicines, during the process and immediately after. This is done to ensure a proper thank you to the ancestors and for this Indian child to feel immediately safer near the

plant medicines after making the journey.

In Western culture, much prayer generally situates around the offering of feelings through words in supplication or thanksgiving, seeking or searching, and sometimes also conveyed in great despair/desperation. While I don’t think these are solely in the province of Western culture, per se, it is a framework of how it generally occurs.

For Native people, when we experience any of those, one of the first things we do is “lay down tobacco.” In our culture, tobacco is the first step to get the Creator’s (Mother/Father Deity), attention. Many wonder why we continue to do that. Here’s why.

When Creator made the 4 Nations, tobacco was given to the Indian nation to effectuate communication. It’s no more complicated than this. Tobacco has a particular vibration that is attuned to Creator’s ear, much like other medicines in other Motherland’s do.

Once tobacco is laid down (meaning lit), people then may take a feather in their hand, or simply sit quietly and begin their discussion with the Creator.

Native folk feel strongly that the Great Ones hear very clearly and quickly when those thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc., are taken up to them on that smoke and sometimes on an Eagle feather.

We have prayed this way for tens of thousands of years, and it is a spiritual practice that is somewhat unique to this Island.

I’ve always found it rather lovely to sometimes light a stick of incense and such to focus when offering up prayers. I know that cultures around the world do center their prayer rituals on using natural resins and such to reach whom they pray to. A friend of mine who is an African priest once hipped me to the utilization of Copal.

People in the Andes, Africa, and other places will often use this extraordinary resin to cleanse, heal as well as to offer up their wishes and respect to their loved ones in the Spirit world, including deities.

Speaking of powerful agents who assist prayers in traveling, what has been your personal experience with Frankincense?

The first I smelled of this amazing fragrance was in a censure being swung by a Catholic priest when I was five years young.

It permeated the entire church (he was a vigorous swinger of the container), and I felt immediately transported. Such a marvelous resin to help you touch the sacred.

Isn’t there a story in the Christian Bible that speaks of the bringing of the gifts of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh by the Magi unto the Blessed Virgin Mary and her husband, Joseph? Can you picture in your mind’s eye how delightful to receive such immensely expensive and somewhat ‘exotic’ gifts?

This was the Magi’s prayer of welcome to this child – in a very tangible, useful form. Once, which could find use in prayers of gratitude for a child’s safe arrival.

That story put me in mind of one other thing I am thinking about with regard to prayer – the setting up of an altar.

In the 1980s and 1990s, there was a sort of craze to construct an altar to whomever you pray to (ancestors, deities, land, elements) to gain focus and connection to your life.

Recently, I have seen younger people starting to craft altars again— what a cool thing. Many of them start with succulents, little containers, tiny stones, flowers, and favorite pictures or found objects. It doesn’t always have to contain power stones, statues, or beads. Craft it the way you like it.

In doing this action of altar construction, these younger generations are finding their own way to prayer. To connection. To community. To a desire to share and grow and find a place in the Universe.

After all, isn’t that the common point between Native prayer ritual and Western prayer ritual?

Connection, community, and finding a place?

Magical Forests

I feel I have been in relationships with Forests my entire life. It was helpful to have a Mother that adored Nature and wanted to spend as much time as she could there. I grew up vacationing every summer in some National Park across the US, and when we weren’t on the road, we were weekend camping in a State Park in Michigan. We also lived across the street from an open field that bordered a wild forested area. Mom loved taking us for walks there to look for the wildflowers growing in the deep shade of oak and pine trees.

Becoming an International Traveler, I began to explore what forests were like on the other side of the world. On the Na Pali Coast of Kauai, I hiked the Kalalau Trail for the very first time with my family. The trail was slick with mud that stuck to your shoes and undermined your footing. But the forests surrounding

me were rich with the fragrance of exotic floral scents and unfamiliar towering vegetation. I half expected to see a Menehune (Hawaii’s name for the Little People), to come peeking out from behind the understory at any moment.

Another magical place that holds sacred ties to Mary Magdalene is the forest at St.Baume in France. I was guided to take my Travel Group here in 2014. This ancient forest is located at the base of The Shrine of Sainte Mary Magdalene, built into a high cliff overlooking the countryside. This grotto was where Mary Magdalene spent the final 30 years of her life. There are signs at the trailhead asking for silence in the forest, so from the beginning, it is set up for pilgrims to have a listening relationship with it. The silence was deep and rich, filled with birdsong and thick energy that surrounded

you like a blanket. Many of our group walked the mile through this sacred space alone, only gathering back together once we made it to the chapel at the summit.

The forests surrounding St. Francis of Assisi’s mountain retreat in LaVerna, France were otherworldly. I felt transported to a planet filled with only green vegetation and moss covering every inch of ground. It also felt as if I could be immersed so deeply within this space that I would meld into the stone canyons of soft green velvet. I would not have resisted if it had taken me in.

On another group adventure in Athens, Greece, our hotel was conveniently located across the street from the National Botanical Gardens. It was free of charge, and several travelers who were tired of shopping

joined me for a few hours of Forest Therapy there. What a magical experience that was! A tiny creek ran through this place of stately trees and rich vegetation, located right in the middle of a noisy tourist metropolis. The sound of the water and the insulating effect of the forest transported us in a way only Nature can. It provided a much-needed rest and respite after so many days of traveling by air and bus and boat.

One participant had a most profound experience and told me she had shifted what 20 years of conventional therapy had not. The forest worked its magic on us, and I know we connected with Ancient Greece in a way most tourists rarely do.
