Celebrating with the Moon

Have you ever wondered why there are so many opportunities to celebrate a New Year? I have.

Many people have written and shared about the New Year 2020 from a secular point of view. However, we are now in the energy field of the Lunar New Year. We have been in this energy field since Samhain (the end of October) and the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere. (See Star Nations Magazine Issues 77–80) The Chinese New Year is the most well-known and celebrated Lunar New Year. The Chinese were the first to write and share about the celebration from secular and religious experiences (from the solar and lunar calendars). As this well-known celebration has evolved into a more secular celebration, we

now equate the color red with the Lunar New Year as this color signifies happiness, abundance, and good luck.

everyday life? Good question.

The short answer is to connect more fully with the divine feminine energies.

Let’s look a bit deeper at the Lunar New Year. The Lunar New Year is held on a different day each year. Our western calendar year corresponds to the Earth’s cycle around the sun; the lunar year is based phases of the Moon, hence (you all know how much I like the word hence), naming this celebration a “Lunar New Year Celebration”.

Consider that many indigenous peoples across Grandmother Earth used the movement of the Moon to measure events in their lives. At one time, we were all more connected with the cycles of the Moon. Perhaps deep within our psyche, at our soul level, we remember this connection to the Moon.

The celebration of Lunar New Year begins with the first New Moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full Moon of the lunar calendar, 15 days later.

So, this year’s Lunar New Year 2020 begins on January 24 and continues through February 9 (Central Time Zone).

The Moon has been used to symbolize the female aspects or archetypes throughout human history. From the Greek to the Native American, the Moon has always been referred to as female. Just as the Earth is the divine feminine, so is the Moon.

I wonder what attracts us to the celebration of a New Year. I think it is the feeling of hope and optimism. We enjoy the idea of creating something new or having the opportunity to have a better life.

There is another festival, a way of celebrating on a certain full moon that I would like to experience. This celebration is called the Lantern Festival, Yee Peng, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I am sure you have seen pictures of this famous festival.

Yee Peng is celebrated on the full Moon of the 12th lunar month, which is November. This festival or time of celebration is used to release events that happened in the past year that you wish to let go of and to make wishes for the coming Lunar New Year.

I realize and understand how a lunar calendar measurement is a challenging concept for most westerners to wrap our minds around. This deeper understanding is in our blood and our bones, but our mental knowledge sits in the solar or sun calendar.

Maybe this is another way for us as humans to learn about

balance and to bring the divine female and divine male into unity.

It’s in the Cards

Many of us are very accustomed to tarot cards and the wisdom that they bring.

The Tarot consists of a 78-card deck that includes the major and minor arcana categories. As the Tarot cards are studied, the gifts of this knowledge are unfolded to the reader. You learn every card and its meaning thus providing a direct message while each card is interpreted; additional messages are flown in during the time to channel information for the individual.

Tarot is a wonderful tool and many souls feel connected to them. The first time I walked into a local witch shop, I was on the hunt for a tarot deck.

I ended up grabbing some herbs, incense, and crystals. I could not locate any decks. Apparently, someone else was searching for them too and when she asked the owner where they were, she said “If you are meant to have them, they will find you.”

My eyes got so big and I giggled. This was not my time to get the tarot deck, so off I went with my sparkling crystals radiating in the palm of my hand as if they were reading me. I went home and conjured with the herbs, so excited for the experience that was unfolding.

I began to read about tarot and the different cards that are within the deck, the reversed meanings, and the many readings that you can do. The wheel of the year to the single card pull, I was so intrigued.

The next week I went back to the store and I walked towards the crystals then looked to my right. There were shelves upon shelves of tarot and oracle decks! My hands went to a dragon tarot deck and a mermaid oracle deck. I wasn’t sure at the time what an oracle deck was, but I can tell you that I loved the way that it felt. Like the crystals I had brought home the week before, I felt that these two decks were reading me, feeling my energy and connecting to me with theirs.

I walked to the cash register and laughed with the man ringing me up about how I had been in the same area of the store days ago looking for tarot cards and could not find any. He told me that they have always been in that same location, but that they will find us when we are ready.

I adore those confirmations! He also explained to me the importance of selecting a deck that we are drawn to and allowing ourselves to open our intuition to be guided as to which ones are ours.

I was so excited and curious! I felt like my inner child was bursting through my heart space and tingling through my energy, ready to discover this magical realm. It has such an ancient energy that swirls with a gypsy presence. I see colorful scarves, crystal balls, and sacred scrying temples when I feel the words tarot, but what is an oracle deck?

I carefully opened the mermaid oracle box like a child slowly opening a birthday present, not sure of what surprise would be inside. I peeked in and wow, was it a gift! It felt soothing, enchanting,

is a solitary witch who works with plant spirits and herbs. She feels that everyone and everything is very much alive—that we embody the universe and everything in it.

Nature is living, and we are not above another. A single blade of grass is just as alive as we are. and held such a fairy energy. My hands began to shake, and I couldn’t remove the bewilderment from my face. I was in awe and this was magic.

I played with both decks and did reading after reading. I enjoyed the structure of the tarot while the oracle deck assisted me with trusting and listening to my intuition. I still use both and sometimes I combine multiple decks in one reading. I also highly recommend creating your own oracle deck.

This may sound difficult, but a wonderful part of the oracle is that there are no rules. It is such a freeing practice that is such a spell since you are putting your intentions into each card. Also, since there is not a card count requirement with specific categories, you are free to create as you desire and can add to the deck when and if you wish.

One of my favorite oracle decks to conjure is a Sigil Deck. Sigils are symbols that we design and set the specific intention into the symbol which invokes the creation with the energy. So essentially each symbol is its own spell.

You can reference ones that have been made by others, but I strongly suggest that you make your own. Go with what you are feeling and allow the movements of your hand along with the ink to charge your Sigil as you focus on the meaning and burn your intention into each card.

As we discussed earlier there are no rules to how this is completed but do make it a ritual as these are ritual products. Below I will share how I craft my personal spread but always listen to your intuition. Modify the instructions, design, or even items used as you feel. This is your personal deck, your spell, and your magic. Let us begin to open the doors to the oracle realm and step through the enchantment.

Enjoy your readings as you dive deep within your magic! Enjoy the experience as you honor your inner witch.

The Sigil Oracle Gather your items: Card Stock Ink Dip Pen Ink

Notebook, Journal, or your Book of Shadows

To begin, prepare your sacred creating ritual space. I usually smudge the area and light some candles and incense. I set up my area with my cards, pen, and ink. I typically use Dragon’s Blood ink for spell casting and ritual purposes, but you can use any ink that you desire.

Now begin to set your intentions on what the message will be on this card. Maybe patience, courage, balance, etc. Write the word on the card and begin to draw a symbol as you focus on the intention. Do not overthink this process. Just let your movements flow.

Go to your journal and write anything that comes to you such as the meaning, ritual, or a meditation to do to further connect. This may even be a phrase associated with the word.

Repeat this process until you have created the number of cards that you wish in this moment. You can always add more later. When you are finished express gratitude to yourself, the cards, and the beings who assisted you. Close the spell.

Your oracle deck is ready to be used as soon as the ink sets.

The Way of Humbleness It comes from the root word “humble”, which is an adjective and came into being in the late 13th century. According to entymonline.com, it means, “submissive, respectful, lowly in manner, modest, not self-asserting, obedient.”

In the late 14th century the meaning expanded to include, “of things, “lowly in kind, state, condition, or amount,” also “of low birth rank.” So, it grew to include the social status of humans as well. For our use however, we will think of humbleness as a way of life and actions.

Living in humbleness is akin to living in gratitude.

To be humble or living with humbleness, we must first appreciate all that we have, hence the gratitude part. We are here on this beautiful planet with all that it has to offer. Do we even notice the beauty that surrounds us?

This is where the humbleness comes into play. By being present, in the moment, and “noticing” all that is around us, we are able to feel humble, to feel perhaps lowly, and respectful of all that Mother Earth has provided for us. We are here to

Humbleness; we have all heard of being humble, but what does that really mean?

In order to understand humbleness, one must first learn what the word really means.

serve the planet by protecting it – the forests, the water, and all other life forms, etc.

It is through humbleness, the act of being humble, that we can truly appreciate all that we have and be grateful for everything living on this planet.

There are many ways to reach this state of humble­ ness. One way is to walk in nature, silence the mind, and be one with your environment. Listen to the silence and the sounds of nature around you.

Another lovely method is to participate in Forest Bathing. It too takes place out in nature, in the forest, and through the invitations of the facilitator, you will become much closer to the trees and life around you. You will become one with the trees of the forest.

It is an amazing journey and I highly recommend it.

Given the fires in Australia that are going on right now, it is crucial for us all to walk in humbleness and gratitude. The planet is calling out to us for help. Who will heed the call? Start with Forest Bathing, walks in nature where you can send love back into the earth.

Another way to help is to plant a tree. Seriously, planting a tree can help offset the carbon emissions from the fossil fuels we use to live. Cut back on the use of those fossil fuels and vote for leaders in government who will be active in working to improve the climate. It begins with you and me.

In appreciation for the fruits of the planet, I leave you with a delicious fruit cake recipe. This cake was a huge success at a recent neighborhood get together. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

CRANBERRY BUNDT CAKE Instructions For the Cranberry Bundt Cake: Preheat oven to 325°F. Generously grease a 10-inch Bundt pan, grease the pan with shortening or butter, dust it with flour. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; whisk well to combine; set aside.

For the Cake: 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 and 1/2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature 3/4 cup full-fat cream cheese, at room temperature 2 cups granulated sugar 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 1 Tablespoon finely grated orange zest 1 and 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla 1 teaspoon Almond Extract 5 large eggs, at room temperature 2 cups fresh cranberries (frozen are acceptable, dry them off before using) 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature 2 and 1/2 cups Confectioners’ sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 Tablespoons heavy cream 1 teaspoon Almond Extract 6 ounces white chocolate, melted then cooled for 10 min.

Decoration: Handful of slivered almonds Orange zest from 1 orange Cut up dried cranberries to sprinkle over the top, if desired.

Using a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, or in a large bowl using a handheld electric mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese at medium speed until smooth and creamy, (1 minute). Gradually add in both sugars, increase the speed to medium-high and continue beating until light and fluffy, (3 minutes). Beat in the orange zest, baking vanilla, and almond extract. Reduce the speed back to medium, then add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Reduce the speed to low and add in the flour mixture, mixing just until combined.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cranberries and flour and toss well to coat. Using a rubber spatula, fold the cranberries into batter until just combined.

Scrape the batter into the prepared pan.

Bake for 70 to 75 minutes, or until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan, on a wire rack, for 20 minutes. Invert the cake onto the rack and cool completely.

White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting: Beat the butter on medium speed until completely smooth in the bowl of a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, or in a large bowl using a handheld electric mixer. Reduce the speed to low, gradually add in the confectioners’ sugar, beating until all of the sugar is completely combined. Add in the salt, cream, and almond extract, beat until smooth. Add in the white chocolate and beat smooth. Once all of the ingredients have been incorporated, increase the speed to medium-high and beat for a minute.

Spread frosting on the top and sides of the cooled cake.

Top with slivered almonds, orange zest, and cranberry pieces, if desired.

Slice and serve. Store in an airtight container in the fridge, for up to 5 days.

Balance Your L ife from Root to Crown

Clear communication in relationships As I began to write this month’s article, I asked what information was most needed this February, for myself, for the readers, and for the planet. Pockets of information came through, gathering together finally into this communication from the Ancient One. I realized that much of what is written below can also be applied to our relationship with our spiritual team. Communication from a clearer perspective, from our heart’s truth, is always what is most needed. No one can truly hear through fear—that includes ourselves. The truth can only slide in when love is present.

As you enter the new decade of 2020, the vibration of clear perception wishes to shine through. What does that mean for this beautiful month of February? In February the emphasis will be on holding clear perceptions in your relationships.

In this month of love, harmony, and togetherness, how can you bring clearer perception into your relationships? It all boils down to speaking from the heart. That can be as easy or as hard as you choose it to be. When you are standing in the vibration of clearing perception, there are more truths that are ready to be spoken.

Most often you speak from the place of woundedness, the place where all the hurt does the talking. In this new decade, you are being invited to speak your

truth from your soul’s perspective, from a place of love. When you speak truth in the vibration of love, even the most difficult things can be heard and acknowledged.

When your wounds do the talking, only the listener’s wounds can do the hearing. Unfortunately, this can open even more wounds for you both.

As the fog of sleep begins to lift, the moments of inner knowing will expand. These revelations will allow aspects of yourself to awaken in new, brilliant ways.

As this is occurring for you, it is occurring for those around you as well. This opens the gateways for expanded connection, which will only happen through true communication. It may seem simplistic, but the difficulty is in the application. Your logic brain understands the concept, but your Inner Child has been controlling

the interactions with others based on the past, based on the wounds.

In addition, there are antiquated beliefs that are ingrained in your psyche that are still running amok, beliefs that create separation from others rather than understanding that you are all one. The expanded perception is allowing space to challenge those beliefs and to restore the authentic truth of oneness. Again, this can only happen with authentic communication. You will be invited to only hold onto beliefs that expand the heart and connect through love. Fear will have no place in guiding who you are and who you choose to be. Are you willing to release the security blanket of fear that you have been holding so tightly? This will be tested many times in the near future for this is at the root of all separateness that you cling to.

Believe it or not, the easiest way to expand communication is through the breath. The more fully you are able to breathe, the more room your heart has to be the guiding light in your communication. How many of you are shallow breathers? For years, you have “made do” with the air that you have. You have lived in so much fear that you haven’t even allowed room for yourself to breathe using the full capacity of your lungs. More of you still have blocked the fullness of your breath from the use of cigarettes and marijuana. These impede the functionality of the lungs, making it difficult to breathe in life in its fullness. You have even created chemical smells that are infusing your environments in unnatural ways—fragrances that mimic nature but harm your airways in ways that are yet to be understood.

As you expand into the states of knowingness, many of these truths will become clear. In this newfound clarity, you will be in a space to choose differently for your health and well-being as well as the health and well-being of the planet. It will be your obligation to choose in alignment for the good of the entire planet, not dismissing the other creatures and plants that share this earth plane with you. Again, many of you understand this concept from a logic place but are still struggling to create this reality from your heart space. Your brain and your heart vibrate at different speeds, which impacts that which you create.

What is being called into action is the co-creation as humanity. This can only happen in its fullness, when people put aside their differences, their othernesses, and speak from their heart spaces. Expanding into truth communication based on love, not fear. Only you can create your own reality, so how will you choose to do this for yourself, for the planet? This is not a time to point fingers at others who are out of alignment. When you feel called to do so, it is a reflection of what is out of alignment for yourself.

To put this clear energy into practice, begin with the communications with those you are in relationship with and those you interact with. Do you treat your cashier at the grocery store as warmly as those you know most closely?

Spreading love and open communication is meant to be with all people, not just those that you

choose in the moment. Again, this will test your woundedness, your beliefs, and even your values at times. The more you are willing to unveil your authentic truth, the more truth will be unveiled for you.

This February, use the vibration of love to expand and open your heart. Allow room for you to breathe more fully the life force energy of air. Listen with your heart wide open to those who speak with you, so that you can be heard more fully. Yes. Self-love is the best love. It is incredibly important to practice self-love throughout the year, as it can influence and improve all other relationships in your life as well.

Let me ask you a question: Who is responsible for your happiness? Do you believe that it’s someone else’s job to make you happy? Is it the responsibility of your significant other or your partner?

True self-love isn’t contingent on your relationship status. It’s loving yourself regardless of external influences.

Because they cannot make you happy— only you can.

As our consciousness as a species continues to rise, practicing self-love is becoming more and more imperative. One of the highest expressions of selflove is the feeling of happiness.

What is happiness? Can you think of something that makes you happy? Maybe it’s being with the baby. Maybe it’s your favorite song. Maybe it’s a memory of a favorite vacation. Maybe it’s spending time with your lover. Maybe it’s the funny joke you heard the other day.

Happiness is a feeling. It comes from within you.

The joyful memory brings about happiness. This means that happiness is an inner state, which is controlled by you. It is influenced only by your thoughts and your focus. You don’t need anything in the outside world to change in order to feel happy. The feeling is always available to you from within.

That’s the only place where true happiness can be found. You don’t have to wait for someone to come into your life, or for someone in your life to change, in order to be happy.

By constantly creating this happiness within yourself, self-love will come easily and your outlook on all of your loving relationships will shift to a place of unconditional love.

As a child, the forest was always mysterious, beautiful, illuminating, and full of wisdom. It was always ready to teach the unfolding natural world of wisdom and through the wisdom there was always healing. To this day, I still find the forest to be a place of sacred medicine and opening the magical space of wonder and mystery.

I grew up about 100 feet from miles and miles of solid forest. It was a grateful magical gift and still to this day I have a deep appreciation for it and all forest land around the world. It is one of the greatest gifts the Great Mother has shared with us.

The forest is an open school to the natural world both of earth and spirit as an emergence ceremony helping us discover who we are underneath the human experience.

The forest is not just a beautiful scenery to look at as you drive or walk by, but also as you step into the forest and become one with it as a ceremony.

Sitting with it and simply breathing in the beautiful energy frequency of the natural space, you are taking in the wisdom and knowledge of the forest and learning the ways of the DNA of the forest. The forest does not communicate by way of “thinking” but rather as an energy exchange of frequency, by spirals of interconnectedness.

When you’re in the forest to simply be with the energy, there is no need to get caught up in the “how do I do this”, but to simply be, connect to the heart, and breathe. You will feel the circular energy moving through you. Be still and silent.

There is no need to try and understand the message or the wisdom meaning because there is no defining it at this level. The current human civilization is far removed from the natural forest medicine and how to live on the earth, furthermore what it means to be a human-being in this shifting time. Many have become digitized, dormant from their hearts and the rhythmic healing medicine sounds of nature.

We often talk about animals going extinct, but unfortunately the human civilization is not far behind that reality. However, we can always change and heal that experience.

When we can take some quiet time out of our busy hectic schedules, or what we ‘think’ are our hectic schedules, and go sit deep in the forest in ceremony, we then have an inner experience of awareness.

As you walk through the forest to find your location, feel the aliveness of the medicine frequency greeting you in the forest. You will be guided to your location of ceremony. Trust what you feel.

At your seated or standing location close your eyes and begin to breathe fully all the way through your body and connecting to the earth. Bring your breathing to a level or tone that you cannot hear.

Listen to the silent breathing, this will turn your inner hearing through the heart. Over time, you will feel the breathing of the Great Mother with your own breathing as one.

As you connect and sit in ceremony with the forest, feel more of the silence and deeply listen to what you cannot hear. Most people are attuned to

listening to the chaotic ego and intentional static noise of the human world. When we begin to practice what we cannot hear, we begin to listen and hear from our hearts versus our thinking mind.

This will heal your life and attune you to your true nature and re-join the collective inner experience of WE through the natural world.

When you connect to the medicine and silence of the forest, you can feel the experience as wisdom frequency as it moves and activates through the essence of your body. The forest DNA is made from the same experience and frequency materials as our own DNA. We have a nature body, although it may be dormant, making a practice of ceremony in the forest will active the nature body and its DNA, not to mention shifting the collective energy to assist the earth and the Great Mother.

The more we practice and experience the present moment of the forest in our own personal lives through the communication of the heart, the more we activate our true nature in the physical world.

The physical world needs our true nature experience more than ever before.

Surrender who and what others want you to be and let go of the attachment of that character to birth your true nature here and now, because you are here and now. This is an infinite experience of love for humanity to assist the healing of the earth.

As you expand your practice of ceremony in the forest, receiving healing and wisdom for your life, mission and awareness, you have an important role to give back. The giving back is to protect that forest.

We like the taking of wisdom, healing, and material experiences from the forest, but we seem to miss the giving back as the full circle of interconnectedness with the forest and all the experience of the forest. Respect to protect the physicalness, medicine, and aliveness of the forest. Greed has no place in the forest, or the world for that matter.

Angel Card readings are a wonderful, easy way to receive divine guidance. The Angels are always available to us and communicate their inspiring messages through the imagery and printed word on the cards. Regularly using cards helps develop your own intuition as well as a closer relationship with your spiritual support team.

Steps to Conducting an Angel Reading Consecrating and Clearing Decks: When you first receive your deck, it is important to clear the energy from the publisher and distributor. This can be done with sending white light through the deck, a crystal, or doing energy healing on the cards if you are so trained. Next, remove the cards from the packaging and spend time really absorbing the energy of your deck. Hold each card, looking at the imagery and reading the messages, fan the cards out and hold them up to your heart. Doing so infuses your personal energy into the cards. Consecrate your deck with a prayer such as: “Allow me to see, hear, think and feel true divine guidance, and may all readings done with these cards be for the highest good of all with harm to none.”

Set an Intention: First, ground, center, and protect yourself. You want to be as clear a conduit for divine energy as possible, so take the time to slow down and release any anxiety you are holding.

Expressing a prayer to begin your reading calls in the Angels and raises the energetic vibration of the process. One example you can use or modify: “Angels please come to be with me. Surround, ground, and protect me to be a receiver and communicator of wisdom and healing.

Develop Your Query: This takes practice and skill. If you have taken the steps above, it will be easier to intuit questions to ask. It may help to write out the topics you need guidance on and formulate the questions from there. The Angels cannot violate free will and want us to feel empowered to make our own decisions, so they will not answer Yes/ No questions. This can be frustrating, as oftentimes we are seeking concrete, defined answers. To assist you in seeing your situation from the Angels’

How to Use the Information: Now that you have received guidance from the Angels, the next steps are determining how to interpret the messages and what action steps to take. Know that every message you receive from the cards has relevance. Sometimes the meaning will be immediately clear, whereas in other circumstances it will take hours or a good night’s sleep to receive clarity. Do you remember exchanging red heartshaped Valentine cards with your friends and classmates, receiving a red heart-shaped box filled with chocolates, or being given a red rose (a bouquet was even better)? Remember counting the cards to see who had the most? The more you had, indicated the more you where loved. Your heart was filled with glee. Well, maybe it was a girl thing!

Where did all this hoopla come from anyhow?

St. Valentine is the most popularized individual associated with the 2nd most celebrated holiday, Valentine’s Day. He served as a priest during the third century in Rome. Marriage was outlawed for Roman soldiers at that time. Valentine felt this was an unjust decree and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. Valentine was imprisoned for this act. While in prison, it is said that he fell in love with the jailor’s daughter to whom he wrote letters, signed, “From your Valentine.”

For instance, in Slovenia, Valentine or Zdravko is one of the saints of spring, good health, and patron of beekeepers and pilgrims. A proverb says that “Saint Valentine brings the keys of roots”.

Plants and flowers start to grow on this day. It has been celebrated as the day when the first work in the vineyards and in the fields commences. It is also said that birds propose to each other or marry on that day.

Valentine’s Day began in Roman times and lives on today. It is a fun-filled day focused on romantic, playful, familiar, affectionate, or even obsessive love. It is a great reminder of earthly love.

But, what about Love beyond the earthly, such as Benign – reverent, Agape – unconditional or Divine Love?

The great Masters, Christ, Buddha, and Krishna, dedicated their lives teaching about the greater, more powerful types of Love: compassion, tenderness, respect, reverence, and bliss.

Listed below are some of their teachings on Love.

The Buddha:

If you truly loved yourself, you could never hurt another.

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.

Love the whole world as a mother loves her only child.

Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care, for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill.

Hatred does not cease through hatred at any time. Hatred ceases through love. This is an unalterable law.

Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate that which they already have.

The Christ:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and your soul with all your mind and strength.

And love your neighbor as yourself.

As I love you, so you must love one another.

Let love be your trademark.

Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

While living on the 3rd-dimensional earth plane, Christ, Buddha, and Krishna lived the Absolute.

According to David Hawkins, the Absolute frequency resonates at 1000 vibrations per second.

The Masters implied that we could reach this goal.

Easy for them, they are Gods. But how can a mere mortal reach such a high level of Mastery? They taught that just as they are children of the Divine, so are we. Did not Jesus the Christ say, “these and greater things, shall you do?” They came to remind us of who we are.

How would you even know where to begin this journey or at what level of consciousness you existed?

In David Hawkins’s book entitled “Power vs. Force,” he illustrates on his Calibration Chart, frequencies of consciousness, and the characteristics that go with them. The chart goes from 0 to 1000. The higher the vibratory frequency of an emotion within an individual, the closer they are to achieving Enlightenment and on to Absolute Love.

As an individual moves through the low (0 to 200) range of the chart, he/she is living at a low level of emotion from shame, guilt, apathy, and pride. The person’s experiences weakness: one of blame, despair, hate, and scorn. It is a consciousness unable to experience love.

The frequency of integrity begins at 200. Once the individual begins to make choices of attaining higher consciousness, he/she moves through the 200 to 500 range of frequency. Here, the person begins to experience stronger emotions, such as courage, neutrality, acceptance, and reason. The person lives a more powerful, productive life of trust, optimism, forgiveness, and reverence. By reached 500, the consciousness of self-love can be attained.

David’s “Map of Consciousness” indicates as one moves from 500 to 700, his/her experiences become even stronger. Not only do they experience the vibrations of self-love, but the

Below are some suggestions: Take a look at David Hawkins Calibration Chart.

Locate at what level of Love you are functioning.

Decide on what level of consciousness you would like to be.

Make the commitment to do your best in reaching that goal.

Begin every day by dedicating yourself to the Divine.

Choose a spiritual path to follow or incorporate pieces from different paths.

Be mindful of the spiritual food of which you partake. Are the presentation, scent, and vibration pleasant? If so, taste it.

Chew it with reverence. Does it bring you balance and joy? If so, take it within.

Investigate it further. Call upon your Divine inner essence to guide you. Does it bring you serenity and bliss? Does it connect you with the Ultimate? If so, keep it with you.

Practice breathing in Love and Compassion.

Continue breathing, getting closer and closer to unconditional Love, reaching Enlightenment, and living ultimate Absolute Love.

Open yourself to the possibility that you are the Creator of your Universe, a loving child of the Divine. And, never give up on reaching your goal.

This past weekend I was at the Michigan Winter Dog Classic. I love this show because it is a Dog Show/Pet Expo hybrid. There is an actual Confirmation Dog Show going on, but the public can also bring in their Dogs to visit the vendors, do dock diving, practice agility, do barn hunting and other fun Dog things. It’s a great cross section of “show Dogs” and “regular Dogs” (as one woman called them).

One person brought their Dog to come talk to me, and the Dog mentioned that he wanted to go try the barn hunting. If you aren’t familiar with barn hunting, the coordinators take a Rat, put it into a PVC tube (with air holes) and then hide the tube in bales of straw. The Dogs then search through the straw bales looking for the tube that contains the Rat. This is designed to simulate the job that some farm Dogs have of keeping rodents away from feed, hay and straw in the barns. This is where they can show off their Rat hunting skills in a competition environment. It started off with typical Rat hunting Dogs, but now is open to all Dogs that can fit through an 18” opening. It has become quite a competitive sport.

The Dog that requested to go try barn hunting was not a Rat hunting breed but was very interested in the whole concept and thought it would be great fun to give it a try. The Dog’s person was not nearly as enthused as the Dog was. They looked at me and made a retching face and uttered, “Ugh”. I automatically assumed that the problem wasn’t a time management issue, but most likely a problem with the Rats. So, I smiled, leaned in and quietly said, “Is it the Rats?” To which I got a (louder than I was planning), “Hell yes! I don’t want to come anywhere near any vermin!” I could generally understand the distaste that my client was expressing. After all, Rats are not generally shown in a good light. And let’s

Communicating with Sacred Animals

On the last day of the Winter Dog Classic, I arrived very early and happened to pass a client of mine who was over by the barn hunt section.

She frantically called me over to ask for help. As I approached her, I saw that she was holding a medium sized Rat and she immediately handed me this Rat before I could react or say a single thing.

Cindy said, “Leslie talk to him and see if he is ok!

I am really worried about him because someone dropped the tube he was in from a high distance and he fell on the floor. Is he ok? Is he ok?” It was very obvious that Cindy was at a high level of concern for her companion. It immediately made me lose all thoughts of this vermin in my hand and quickly switched focus to this cute little fellow named Herman. Herman had the cutest nose, whiskers and deep brown eyes and he sat up on his hind legs and he took his little hand and he and wrapped it around my finger. I knew immediately that he was really scared, and he was looking to me for help. I went directly into “communication mode” and started to ask Herman a lot of questions regarding his fall and if he was hurt or in pain.

Luckily, Herman was ok, he was just really shaken up about the fall.

Herman was obviously part of Cindy’s fur-family and she was really worried about him. It made me feel a bit guilty about letting the word “vermin” even enter into my thoughts. As I looked a Herman and talked to him, I was reminded of the adorable little cartoon mice in the Disney movie, Cinderella.

He spoke in a tiny voice and since he was so shaken up, he asked me if I would bring him closer and hold him nearer to me so he would feel safe. I immediately brought my hands with his tiny, little body up towards me and cuddled him near my chest. He looked up at me and said, “Thank you, I don’t want to fall again”. His little whiskers quivered, but not from fear of me, but from his previous fall. Within two minutes, he was asleep in my hands. As I watched him sleeping, I took this opportunity to look at his body a little closer. The bottom half of his body was white, and the top half was “blue”. His tail had no fur on it, and I thought that this is probably one of the things that turn people off to the thought of having a Rat for a pet.

I can tell you that if you only looked at their cute little furry face that you would say, “Awwww” and not “Ewww”. Herman is a sweet soul.

In the Chinese culture (and with the coming of the Chinese/ Lunar New Year) this year is the year of the Rat. Don’t fear the Rat Spirit Animal because this symbolizes an abundant period that will soon take place.

I submit that we should all try to be a little more tolerant of Rats (at least those that are pets) and think of Herman with his scared little voice asking me to hold him close, and the abundance that his ancestors will bring to us in 2020.

Hypnosis—Guided Imagery & Positive Visualization Would you like to try an experiment with yourself? Close your eyes. Now, without looking, what is the total number of windows in your home or apartment?

The important question is not how many windows, but how you arrived at the number. A natural way to do it is through imagery. To accurately count the windows, if that number was not easily known to you, you had to remember and imagine each of them.

Almost all of us use some form of imagery. We use it to solve a variety of our daily problems – it is said: “The soul never thinks without a picture” (Aristotle).

So, is imagery only visual? There is more to imagery than just

visualization. We can use imagery to create or recreate emotions. We can also use imagery with our senses of smell, touch, hearing, and even taste.

Have you ever been hungry and remembered a special meal you once had? Perhaps you can close your eyes for a moment and remember a favorite dish.

Your memory may be so vivid you can nearly taste it.

In fact, your mouth may water in anticipation of the thought and mental picture of the meal.

If your mouth waters from the

thought or mental picture, that is a physical response to a creation in the mind. That sort of response is one of the powers of imagery.

Eyes, ears, tongue – what is your specialty? Each of us is inclined to take in information and perceptions of the world differently.

Though we use our five senses, we give each of those senses different values and importance.

This is usually not a conscious process – it has evolved in our unconscious mind from early childhood.

Of course, no one operates in just one of these sensory modes. We overlap input from our senses, and we use all of them at various times. But most of us are more sensitive to one sensory input than to another.

Behavioral scientists find that most people are visual in their perception mode. You may believe you are equal in your sensitivities. That would be somewhat unusual, though the differences in your preferences may be too slim to detect.

Your imagery may be subject to these same tendencies. Visually oriented people will tend to be most concerned with what their imagery “looks like.” Auditory people will be “tuned in” and most sensitive to the sounds and voices of their images.

Kinesthetic people will be most affected by the physical sensations and the ability to “sense or feel” the images.

Nevertheless, we all accept and process information and stimuli from all our senses, and our images may contain all sensory perceptions, even tastes, and smells. Therefore, the most effective imagery you can create incorporates elements that arouse all your senses.

There has been much written about and studies done about this phenomenon under the name of NLP. Richard Bandler and John Grinder have taken some of the work of Milton Erickson and fashioned it into a model of understanding communications and mental processing they call neuro-linguistic programming or NLP. These processes have been found to have value in understanding self and interpersonal communication patterns. I will talk about that in a future article.

How do you improve your ability to use imagery?

Each of us possesses the ability to use some sort of imagery, but we have varying degrees of skill.

Depending on our life experiences and environment, we may have used imagery a lot or a little.

Here is an exercise that can help you develop your imagery skills: Gaze at a geometrical drawing - a square, circle, triangle, or some such figure - then shut your eyes and try to visualize it.

Examine for a few moments a three-dimensional object such as an orange, a glass of water, or a lamp. Again, close your eyes and imagine the object.

Visualize a schoolroom from your childhood.

Visualize your home or apartment. Move around in it; go from room to room.

Visualize a person, you know.

Visualize your reflection in a mirror.

Some people may be more aware of and sensitive to visual stimuli and only partially attentive to auditory (hearing) input. These people maybe even less mindful of kinesthetic (touching, feeling) perceptions.

Add to and expand these exercises with different places and objects as you gain in your imaging talents. Feel free to experiment with your favorite images, colors, smells, and sensations of touch, heat, and cold.

How important is imagery in Hypnosis? The images and visualizations you develop along with the suggestions, are powerful tools. In Hypnosis, a mental picture is worth pages of verbal suggestions.

What makes imagery so powerful is that it comes from within you. You have created it. You have assembled the images from all your memories, experiences, and thoughts. You are using the language of your unconscious mind to place requests for change.

Personalize your imagery – imagery of a suggestion can take an infinite variety of forms. If a hundred people were asked to imagine a walk in a forest and then to describe their images in detail, no two would be the same. Their images of the scene would be a composite of recollections from their previous individual experiences involving forests and walks.

In Hypnosis, you use material from your own experiences and memories to form your visualizations and imagery. It is important to use your own words and mental pictures of your life experiences.

For example, if you are suggesting to yourself that your arm is feeling cold and numb, picture a time you really did feel cold and numb. Perhaps you will remember a time you were without gloves in the winter cold. Or you may remember a time when you dipped your hand into a cold mountain stream.

If you are suggesting a floating feeling in your arms or legs, find an image that represents to you

a floating experience. Perhaps you will recall a bubble of air floating up from the bottom of a pool of water you were once in, puffy dandelion seeds you have seen floating on the wind or perhaps the sensations you had floating in an inner tube or a boat.

The important thing is to create images from your own experiences. Use the suggestions that I have given you to start to stir your memories for images that are yours.

REKINDLING OUR CONNECTION WITH GAIA

Clutter Clearing I did not understand the importance of Clutter Clearing until I began to study Feng Shui.

To allow life force energy (Chi) to enrich our lives, it needs to have an unencumbered movement. A kitchen counter filled with appliances, food, and dirty dishes creates areas where Chi becomes stuck. And when Chi is stuck in our kitchen, it robs us of potential life force that can be put into our food to keep us energized and healthy. Instead, we may feel frustration, depression, or anger, and those qualities get put into our food.

This is the same for every surface and space in our homes or offices. When our desk is cleared off every evening as we put our workday to bed, we set the stage for productivity the next morning. There is space to physically move, but also space for our minds to call in and create new opportunities.

In organizing the bedroom, I have become a big fan of Marie Kondo, the new Guru of tidying up.

She teaches simple folding methods for caring for our clothes that have become a staple in my home. By folding and organizing our clothing, we create more space and visibility for what we own.

This, in turn, allows the life force, Chi, to move into our lives in even the simplest of places, our dresser drawers. Honestly, when I open my drawer and see all the neatly folded and aligned items, my heart skips a pure beat of joy! How different from the once jumbled mess of t-shirts stacked on top of each other, as I struggled to locate the one I truly wanted on the bottom of the stack.
