Christine Riutzel has called the Ozarks home for 26 years. Though she explored art as a child, her passion truly emerged in high school under the guidance of an inspiring teacher. Growing up in a strict, cult-like community, her teen years were marked by trauma that stifled her creativity. At 25, she returned to art as part of her healing, pursuing online courses to build her skills. Since 2016, Christine has exhibited in fine art shows and built a full-time career as a muralist. She serves as Vice President of the Southern Missouri Arts Connection and sits on the Hollister Planning Commission. Working from her Hollister studio, she uses public art to uplift young, underprivileged artists in a region where visual arts are often overlooked.

A venue housing the area’s only cutting-edge, live recording studio and snagging hot Broadway shows as they tour? That’s The Mansion Theatre for the Performing Arts and it truly has it all when it comes to music, stage performances, and the best entertainment around.
In the 1990s, when Wayne Newton — sometimes called “Mr. Las Vegas” — built a 3,000-seat theater perched above Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, audiences expected world-class music and big-city style. And they got exactly what they bargained for — performers like Michael Bolton, Kenny Loggins, The Oak Ridge Boys, Dennis Quaid, Kenny G, Johnny Mathis, Rhonda Vincent, Tony Orlando, Nelly and many more, on stage in an elegant space with a vast entryway and a grand staircase.
Over the last five years, Branson audiences have gotten even more than legacy promised. Now known as The Mansion Theatre for the Performing Arts, the venue has continued to deliver a star-studded lineup with legendary rock and classic country performers as the main menu, plus some of the best professional tribute bands in the world for added spice. Audiences love it so much that they’ve voted The
Mansion Theatre Best Concert Venue for the eighth year in a row in this year’s Best of Branson contest — and tribute rockers Bohemian Queen have earned the Best Limited Engagement Show title.
“We are thrilled,” says Kristy Adams, The Mansion’s general manager. “These awards speak to the character of our staff, both in front and behind the scenes, our management, our artists — and most of all, our patrons. We want to continue to always put our best foot forward, and this award proves we are doing just that.”
So does The Mansion’s 2026 lineup — a who’s who of Branson favorites that includes the Gatlin Brothers; Jimmy Fortune in September, October and November; Gene Watson during the same three months; Brothers of the Heart with Jimmy Fortune, Ben Isaacs, Bradley Walker and Mike Rogers in October; and the Bellamy Brothers in October and November.
“We’ve also added Faithful Journey, a Journey tribute, June 12; Zep-La, a Led Zeppelin tribute, June 13; and we’re bringing back Bohemian Queen July 18,” Adams says proudly.
“The Mansion will continue to host our classic legendary artists that the community and visitors have become accustomed to,” Adams promises. “And more.”

From Broadway-style shows with all the lights and bells and whistles to heartwarming Christmas shows and half a dozen praise festivals a year, The Mansion offers entertainment for all ages. Arguably the biggest show on The Mansion’s stage this fall will be Darrell Worley, headlining Veterans Homecoming Week in Branson. He is best known for his post-9/11 song “Have You Forgotten?,” and will appear Nov. 7 at The Mansion Theatre.
Veterans always seem to make up a big part of The Mansion’s dayto-day audience, which starts in their 40s and goes all the way up to 80. “But it’s especially fun to see grandparents bring their grandchildren,” Adams says. “It’s part of that long, treasured tradition of bringing your family to Branson as a vacation and entertainment destination.”
There’s also a world behind the scenes at The Mansion Theatre that benefits audiences, even though they might not see it.
“We are the only facility in the area that also houses a live, top-ofthe-line recording studio on property,” Adams explains. “Mansion Sound features the ability to record in ATMOS on a 96-input SSL duality fuse console, and artists can enjoy a professional recording experience right here.”
The theater was part of a trend toward “bigger is better” in Branson in the 1990s, and now as The Mansion Theatre, it continues to expand on that philosophy.
“The historic theater was originally built for Wayne Newton,” Adams repeats, “which explains its grandness and elegance. It has always been a showplace for the region and over the years home to so many fantastic productions and entertainers. Now, we believe our lineup of legendary performers reaches out to a wide demographic with award-winning productions you can only see on our stage.

Faith Meets Technology: Truth Traveler Opens in Branson’s Moon
Wes Bowen chuckles and sighs when he says that Truth Traveler is one of the hardest things he’s ever done, a journey that’s taken him from imagining an immersive experience that transports people inside the stories of the Bible to creating that experience in the former Andy Williams Moon River Theatre in Branson. It’s required two years, an investment of about $35 million and some of the greatest minds in the theme park business.
But Bowen says the cuttingedge attraction will be more than just entertainment. “It will be superencouraging for the believer, super-challenging for the non-believer, and nothing like anything Branson has ever seen before.”
Bowen was well prepared for the logistical challenges; he’s an industrial developer who has built multi-million dollar projects in 43 states and eight countries. This time, however, he had an important story he wanted to tell that’s close to his own heart.
It’s an old story that starts in the Garden of Eden and ends with Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Most visitors will know it as well as he does, he says. But it’s the first time they’ll actually be able — through the use of virtual reality — to turn their heads around the stable at the moment of Jesus Christ’s birth, ride out the storm aboard Noah’s Ark, look on from the crowd at Christ’s crucifixion and come face to face with Jesus as he ascends to heaven.
“It’s all about the story,” says Bowen, who is the managing member of Mindscape Creative LLC. “The story is more important than the medium.”
The medium, however, is seriously jaw dropping. It’s cutting-edge 5D, a breathtaking virtual reality with motion seating, stunning sensory effects and interactive storytelling that is certain to inspire not just oohs and ahhs but gasps, sighs and probably tears.
The journey starts when visitors enter a lobby area that’s themed like a mid-century modern airport. This time, though, the destinations are across time, not space. Purchase of a ticket takes you into the light tunnel, which Bowen says “reminds people that in the beginning God created the light” but also lets
them prepare for the adventure ahead. A launch area has images of the Ozarks with the addition of docking ports where time travel capsules take off and return. Then a quick stop to chat with “The Inventor” reminds visitors that the Bible is “not a story book but a history book, and they are about to experience Biblical history.”
Bowen says everything about the pre-show experience is themed and was designed at the highest level by minds that have created for the biggest names in the attractions business. Through the “Star Trek” style doors, the adventurers finally arrive at nine time travel “pods” where they’ll be seated in groups of 12, put on their virtual reality headsets and “fly off” on their tour through time. Thunder crashes, waves pound during the flood, seats move — and “immersive” is the only word to describe it.
The return to the time travel port is not the end of the journey, however. Visitors can then enter the theater portion of the building for the “Fear Not” show, another immersive experience with laser lights, projections and music that bring more of Christ’s story to life.
One day, Bowen says, there will be a live Biblethemed show on that stage. That’s a year or so away, though. Right now, he says, the focus is on the Truth
Traveler experience — but he teases there will be more to come.
All in all, Bowen says, the whole experience lasts about 90 minutes — not including what could be a lingering stop at Timeless Treats, a themed snack bar offering favorites like fudge and kettle korn. There’s also a curated gift shop where kids can take home their friends from Truth Traveler, including P.O.D., a joke-cracking robot created by the Inventor and your tour guide throughout the adventure.
It’s funny, Bowen says, how all the parts of his life and career came together in this unique attraction, “the biggest, most extensive venue we’ve ever done.”
“It’s gorgeous,” he says. “Some places have a really fancy facade, but the experience doesn’t live up to it. We have a really fancy facade, and inside is so much more than our guests can even anticipate. Trying to represent God’s story in a respectful world-class way was our biggest challenge. And I am so happy with how it’s turned out. This is an experience that will really strengthen your faith — and knock your socks off!”
