THE FARM ON GOLDEN HILL Blending Heritage With Hospitality

With rustic charm and picturesque beauty, The Farm on Golden Hill is a unique property that invites guests to relax and enjoy themselves. Located outside of Silverton, The Farm is a special place for business owners Elise and Clarissa.

The sisters were born and raised on the property, and it has been a special place for them throughout their lives.

“We were blessed with a childhood that allowed us the space and freedom to play,” said Elise.

The property has been in their family since the early 1900’s after their ancestors immigrated from Switzerland. Starting out as acres of timber, it has evolved over the years to grow a variety of crops such as berries and grass, and at one point was even a dairy farm.

Elise emphasizes that while the crops have changed over the years, one thing that hasn’t is that The Farm has always revolved around agriculture, and this has factored into the name of the property.

The sisters grew up referring to it as “The Farm,” so that just made sense. The other half of the name comes from an anecdote that is special to their family.

Clarissa explained, “When our grandfather was farming the property, our neighbors joked that we lived on a hill of gold because our crops grew so well, which finally led to the name The Farm on Golden Hill.”

The family’s venture into the wine industry began with the desire for a crop that they could grow more long term. They like to say that they are farmers who sort of stumbled into the wine world and they have loved learning about the world of grapes and wine.

At first, they produced just a small amount under their own label and sold the majority of their fruit to other wineries. Over the years, the amount they have made under their own label has increased and today they are now producing about 2,000 cases a year.

The design of the label itself is a tribute to The Farm’s character. It features the almost 100-year-old barn that sits on the property in the shadows of a sequoia evergreen. The back of the labels features the family’s old Chevy truck that still carries crates of wine every harvest.

“Our beautiful old barn carries so much warmth and character that it only made sense to be the shape of the label on our bottles,” said Elise. “We want to celebrate the deep roots of the property, and each bottle of wine gets a little bit of history put on it.”

In addition to the wine business, the property serves as a beautiful venue for weddings and other events.

For weddings, The Farm offers a three-day package which allows couples and their families the chance to not feel rushed so they can enjoy their time celebrating such a special occasion.

The new event center allows for all kinds of both indoor and outdoor events year-round and the lawn gives plenty of space for guests to spread out. With a number of amenities and features, clients and their guests are guaranteed a great time on the property.

“Our hope is that when you choose The Farm for hosting your event, you can relax and know that you are in good hands,” said Clarissa.

Clarissa and Elise count it as a blessing that The Farm has been kept in their family, and they love being able to have others come out

to experience the beauty and peacefulness that the space offers.

The sisters find joy in representing women and moms in business, especially agriculture, and appreciate their families, friends, and the community that has supported their journey.

Elise stated that, “Everything we do for the business and property is truly a labor of love. We want to stay true to the roots of The Farm while allowing others to experience its magic.”

Just a few years ago, Armando was sleeping in Wallace Marine Park in Salem, trying to rebuild his life after losing nearly everything. There were moments he had to sleep under trees.
