Nestled amidst the captivating landscapes of Nevada, the triad of Reno, Tahoe, and Carson City presents an enticing proposition: a destination worth visiting, and an even more enchanting place to call home. This region, endowed with natural beauty, a rich history, and a vibrant community, offers a tapestry of experiences that captivates the soul and beckons both visitors and residents to savor its charms. The inaugural edition of Best of Sierra Nevada has been well received. We could not have accomplished this year’s contest without the support of GGRM, Nevada’s Premier Injury Law Firm for over 50 years. We received over 10,940 nominations from over 9,000 individuals and businesses in the area. Placing in the top three positions truly is an accomplishment. We have 36,851 votes from 21,136 individual ballots cast. We are awarding 687 businesses with 681 awards. Best of Sierra Nevada includes Reno, known as “The Biggest Little City in the World,” exuding a unique blend of urban vibrancy and laid-back charm. The city’s bustling downtown, vibrant arts scene, and eclectic dining options create an ambiance that’s at once cosmopolitan and approachable. Just a stone’s throw away lies Lake Tahoe, a gem of crystalline waters framed by the Sierra Nevada mountains. In winter, Tahoe transforms into a winter wonderland with world-class skiing and snowboarding. As the seasons change, the lake becomes a haven for water sports and lakeside relaxation. Carson City, Nevada’s capital, adds historical depth to the region’s allure. It’s a city that seamlessly melds the past and the present. While these destinations are magnets for tourists, they hold an even greater charm for those fortunate enough to call them home. We encourage you to explore our winners. Some will be familiar, others may be places you didn’t even know were in the area. As you explore, keep this magazine handy, and you can always check in at BestofSierraNevada.com

The escape room games at Break Through Reno all start with the same general premise – the fictional Grand Break Through Hotel was a five-star spot in the 1920s until the owner mysteriously disappeared. Four different games go from there – Skull and Scepter; Centurion Heist; the Sorcerer and the Fountain of Hope; and the U-Boat: Sinking. Teams as small as two can tackle the puzzle, but they are also used for team building.
For individual challenges, family fun, or team-building, Tahoe Treetop Adventure Parks offers an outdoors experience for all occasions. Each course at Tahoe Treetop starts on a tree platform. Customers cross to another platform via rope swings, wobbly bridges, swinging logs, tightropes, cargo nets, climbing walls and more. Customers have just under three hours to make their way through one or more courses.
Families with kids of all ages can visit Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center to explore exhibits, catch a Dome Show tour of the night sky, a live telescope feed from the Canary Islands or Chile (time and weather permitting), and an out-of-this-world science show. The Center has a fun Space Bingo scavenger hunt activity to guide one’s exploration, and Dome Shows are scheduled for Saturdays and Fridays.
