SIMPLY elcome to the 2021 edition of Best of Northeast Arkansas.

This is our third edition of the Best of Northeast Arkansas, and the second with our new format.

This year, voters will have noticed a new ballot design from our partners. We think the experience was much better, and our engagement shows that by the numbers.

We started this year’s contest on January 18, with open nominations.

We received over 3,320 nominations to be on the ballot. As we started voting on February 15, a total of 1,778 local companies and individuals competed to be voted best, a 60% increase year over year. For 2021, we are presenting 324 winners in 196 categories, for a total of 392 awards.

As we make our journey back to “normal” we want to make sure our Best Of contest remains relevant and important to our audience.

Without hesitation, we can share that it is. During our voting, February 15 through March 5, we had 132% more unique voters. That is 35,617 more unique visitors that last year. More important, we received 117,974 or 69% more votes cast than prior year, 2021 BEST OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

THE BEST for a total of 288,974 votes cast and 75,410 ballots received. To finish in the top two positions of the 2021 Best of Northeast Arkansas is not only an accomplishment, but also a testament to how friends, fans, and customers feel about our local area businesses.

The top ten categories represented 17% of the votes this year. In ranking order, they were: Customer Service, Home Care/ Hospice, All-Around Restaurant, Photographer, Boutique Store, BBQ, Gym/Fitness Center, Burger, and Florist.

Northeast Arkansas is fast becoming a mobile engaged market.

Of the votes cast, 78.49% were from a smart phone (with the Apple iPhone the most used), 19.10% from desktop, and 2.41% from a tablet.

Opening eight and a half years ago, Lindsey Hagood (pictured this page), the owner of Elite Senior Care, saw that her family was in need of help, so she decided to start the company. “I saw the opportunity in Paragould to make a difference and that is what I went after,” said Hagood. After seeing the initial impact with just her family, Hagood slowly started to see the needs in other surrounding communities and took action from there.

In addition to helping families in need, Elite Senior Care has impacted the community in a multitude of ways. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people in the Northeast Arkansas area were finding themselves in peak unemployment. Elite Senior Care stepped up and was able to provide jobs to many people in the community. Because of this, they have been able to take care of clients of all ages that have needed help. “It has been a challenge, but also rewarding being able to help those in need,” Hagood mentioned.

Lindsey Hagood and her family’s mission for Elite Senior Care since the beginning was to provide the best health care services to every individual in need with the most qualified and sympathetic staff possible all from the comfort of their own home. Without the care givers, the business would not be possible.

“If it wasn’t for our 1,300 caregivers taking care of our clients, it would make this task impossible to do,” she said.

For each client, they provide a caregiver with the best background fit for them to ensure the best care they can provide.

Running any normal business is difficult to do but running one with multiple offices and locations and clients to keep track of, needs to have the most dedicated and efficient staff possible. With a multitude of tasks at hand, the staff puts in long hours to make sure everything runs smooth and efficiently. “We have a great team that is not afraid to go help another office if we need it,” Hagood said. According to her, the office staff is the one that has kept the business going for as long as it has because of the strong family dynamic and need to help others.

While they are an ever-growing company, the one thing that remains consistent for Elite Senior Care is the love and care for their clients. “We pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our clients,” Hagood said, “we truly care and want to provide the best fit caregiver for each one.”

Christmas at the Park is a winter wonderland with over a half-mile drive-through of lights. Almost 450 pieces are on display with over 400,000 lights.

As guests travel through the display, they will have an opportunity to participate in an A-State Howl and Scarlet Scavenger Hunt of several custom-designed pieces. There is also the opportunity for guests to venture out of their car and visit the concession stand, take pictures with props, and when available, even meet Santa.

On November 3, 1995, an old Jonesboro building took on a new life with the opening of local artist Sara Howell’s studio and gallery. Since that time, the Sara Howell Studio and Gallery has given Jonesboro artists and patrons a venue to show and purchase art. Her first show highlighted nine local artists, and through the years, Howell’s body of work and the number of artists represented has grown and evolved.
