Follow these steps to submit a Help ticket with ICHQ.

Starting the Year Successfully As August rolls to a close, students are moving back in to their residence halls and apartments preparing for the start of a new school year. Many institutions have shifted back to faceto-face and hybrid models since the start of the pandemic, and your undergraduates may have lots of feelings about it. Reach out to them and check in. Ask how they are feeling & you can support.

Connecting with Campus Partners Campus partners such as Deans of Students, Directors, Coordinators, etc. play an integral role in the success of undergraduate chapters. Do YOU know who the campus partner is at your undergraduate chapter's institution??? More importantly, do THEY know YOU???

Take time this week to send an email to your campus partner introducing (or reintroducing) yourself and your role, as well as provide updated contact information.

Have you checked the college or university's Return to Campus policies? Make sure you are aware so that the undergraduate chapter is in compliance with the school's guidelines.

Encourage your undergraduates to share their event calendars with you and the advising chapter so that everyone is aware and you can attend and send representation.

Have your undergraduates submitted their 990N and End of Year reports?

Verifying financial status of individuals and chapters is also vital to kick off the year successfully.

TORCH and other things are contingent on good standing financial & having submitted all of your end-ofyear documentation.

4 Quick Tips for Avoiding Advisor Burnout: Creating Balance List Priorities & Responsibilities Listing out your priorities and responsibilities gives you the opportunity to avoid burnout. You can better delegate, prioritize, and schedule tasks as they arise versus trying to take on everything at once.

Develop a System Build out a system for scheduling, meetings, task completion, check-ins, and other things pertinent to advising.

Systems allow us to more effectively navigate our roles as advisors.

Be Honest with Yourself Understand your limits and acknowledge them. You cannot do it all. Make sure you have a strong support system and that you can have honest conversations with yourself about when you need support and assistance.

Practice Self-Care We spend much time taking care of others, we frequently forget to take care of ourselves. Just like you schedule time to handle tasks, be intentional about scheduling time for self-care as well. Read a good book, cut off your phone, talk with your therapist, take a long drive, whatever recharges and refreshes you.
