WELCOME TO Mission
Values
The mission of Nerinx Hall is to cultivate empowered women who pursue academic excellence within a diverse community, forge a path towards social justice, and grow in knowledge of themselves and their world.
Nerinx Hall is rooted in the four Loretto values of faith, community, justice, and respect, which guide every aspect of school life. These principles inspire students to serve others, build meaningful relationships, advocate for fairness, and honor the dignity and potential of every person.

Every August, we kick off the school year with our back-to-school meeting that goes beyond policies and procedures. We make sure your family feels prepared and welcomed into the Nerinx community. Parents leave with a clear picture of what the first weeks of high school will look like, what to expect, and how to feel confident as your daughter begins her journey.
Finding Your Place
Starting high school can feel like a big step, but at Nerinx, you never have to take it alone. From the very first day, our students become part of one of five Neighborhoods, each named after a Sister of Loretto, creating a smaller community within the larger Nerinx sisterhood. The Neighborhood Program is designed with a simple goal in mind: helping every student to know she belongs. Over the course of four years, those connections grow into friendships and memories that become an integral part of the Nerinx experience.

Freshman Orientation is a two-day program that helps students feel prepared, connected, and excited to begin high school. They walk through their schedules, meet their teachers, and learn how to navigate Nerinx with confidence. Along the way, they are guided by Marker Mentors, upperclasswomen who help answer questions, lead activities, and foster connections within their Neighborhood Family Rooms, ensuring every new student feels welcome and supported from day one. Orientation is all about turning first-day jitters into school pride, so by the first day of classes, students already feel part of something bigger than themselves.

So, what’s a Marker? The name of our mascot, the Marker, comes from the original phrase "Hall Marker," reflecting the idea that Nerinx students leave a lasting mark wherever they go. A Hall Mark symbolizes excellence, integrity, and authenticity, which are values at the heart of a Nerinx education. Unlike a traditional mascot, the Marker represents character, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

At Nerinx, belonging doesn't happen by accident. The student experience is intentionally designed to help every student find her place within the community. Through traditions, leadership opportunities, campus events, and everyday interactions, we cultivate a school culture where students are encouraged to participate, take risks, support one another, and become active members of a community that will continue to support them long after graduation.

Students don't just participate at Nerinx. They help shape the community. Through our 45+ clubs & organizations, Neighborhood Council, Student Government, Marker Mentors, and other countless leadership opportunities, students learn how to organize events, build community, and create meaningful experiences for their peers. Whether joining an existing club or starting something entirely new, students are encouraged to take initiative and make their mark on campus life.
Called to Serve
Service learning is a graduation requirement for every Nerinx student and a reflection of the school's commitment to educating young women who lead with compassion and purpose. Beginning in their freshman year, students engage in service experiences that encourage them to build relationships and better understand the needs of their communities. As students progress through high school, their service commitment grows from 15 hours as freshmen to 30 hours as seniors, creating opportunities for deeper engagement and reflection. During senior year, students complete a Senior Service Project, dedicating all 30 hours to a single organization while working directly with people in need. This sustained commitment allows students to move beyond volunteering and develop lasting connections with the individuals and communities they serve. Through these experiences, students learn that service is not simply something they do. It becomes part of who they are.

Founded by the Sisters of Loretto in 1924, Nerinx Hall carries forward a tradition of educating young women. Established under the guidance of Fr. Charles Nerinckx, the Sisters of Loretto were pioneers in education, creating opportunities for young women at a time when few existed. Their commitment to educating young women was grounded in the values of faith, community, justice, and respect. Those same values continue to shape the Nerinx experience today, encouraging students to know themselves and their world, grow in faith, and use their gifts to make a meaningful difference.
Recharge and Reflect
At Nerinx, we believe faith is nurtured through experience. Throughout their four years, students participate in retreats that provide dedicated time for reflection and faith formation beyond the classroom. Each year, students take part in a grade-level retreat designed to encourage them to pause, reflect, and deepen their understanding of themselves, their faith, and their relationships with others. These experiences create space for meaningful conversations, personal growth, and a stronger connection to the values that shape life at Nerinx. In addition to annual retreats, students may choose to participate in one of two optional retreats: Nerinx on the Lake or our Spring Retreat. These experiences allow students to spend additional time exploring their faith and strengthening connections within the school community.
he Sacramental Journey
Faith is at the heart of the Nerinx experience. We welcome students from a variety of faith backgrounds and support each student in her individual faith journey. For some students, that journey includes participating in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). In 2025, 13 Nerinx students chose to prepare for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, or completion of their sacramental journey through the OCIA process. Supported by the entire Nerinx community, these students engaged in prayer, reflection, and faith-filled conversations as they prepared to receive the sacraments.

They leave with the habits, skills, and confidence to succeed wherever life takes them.
Access and Opportunity
At Nerinx, we believe every student should have access to the opportunities that help her learn, grow, and succeed. Through the Office of Equity and Inclusion, students and families have access to resources designed to remove barriers and make full participation in school life possible. Programs like the Borrow Back Book Program, interpreter services, student food pantry, global education grants, college access support, and assistance with college testing fees help remove financial and logistical barries so that every student can fully participate in the Nerinx experience. By partnering closely with families and responding to individual needs, we create an environment where every student feels supported, and empowered to thrive. At Nerinx, every student matters.

More than half of Nerinx students participate in athletics, making sports an important part of campus life. Across 13 athletic programs, students compete throughout the fall, winter, and spring while contributing to a culture built on commitment, hard work, and pride in representing their school. At Nerinx, athletes are encouraged to pursue their passions without limiting themselves to a single identity. Student-athletes can also be performers, leaders, volunteers, scholars, and members of multiple teams. In fact, nearly 100 students compete in more than one sport each year, embracing new challenges and opportunities C

Athletics are a place where students challenge themselves and pursue excellence. For some, that journey continues at the collegiate level, with 11 members of the Class of 2026 committed to competing in college athletics. For others, athletics provide friendships, school spirit, and moments they will remember long after graduation. Regardless of the path, athletics remain an integral part of the Nerinx experience, providing students with opportunities to compete, represent their school, and discover their capabilities.
Scholar Athlete Spotlight
Each year, schools across the St. Louis area nominate one student for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete recognition, an honor celebrating excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and service. Nerinx proudly selected Emary Khazen ’26 as its 2026 Scholar Athlete. A four-year member of the soccer program and a part of the 2024 state championship Team, Emary balanced a demanding schedule while making her mark throughout the Nerinx community. She was a member of the National Honor Society and served as a Neighborhood President, Student Ambassador, Vice President of Markers in Prayer, and Chief Editor of Writing Clubhouse.

Although her athletic career began nearly 14 years ago, soccer was only one chapter of Emary's story. Following graduation, Emary enrolled in the Honors College at Florida State University, where she is majoring in psychology on the pre-med track.

After three years in the Nerinx soccer program, Lainey Bickel ’26 decided to try something new during her senior year: lacrosse. Lainey's experience reflects a unique aspect of Nerinx athletics. Students are encouraged to pursue new opportunities and challenge themselves in ways they may never have imagined. Sometimes that means discovering a new passion. Sometimes it means finding success in an unexpected place. Lainey now attends Marquette University, where she majors in speech pathology.

One of Nerinx's most distinctive academic offerings is our senior-level Humanities class. Humanities is a course that explores history through the lenses of art, music, and theatre. As students journey from the ancient world to modern times, they examine how the fine arts both shape and reflect society through discussion, writing, performances, museum experiences, and encounters with guest artists. Students can take Humanities as a semester course on campus or through a summer offering that culminates in a 15-day international travel experience. By walking historic streets, visiting world-renowned museums, and immersing themselves in the cultures they study, students gain a deeper understanding of both history and the human experience.
Learning Alongside Professionals
At Nerinx, students have opportunities to learn directly from professionals who are actively working in creative fields. Visiting artists, photojournalists, art therapists, stage combat instructors, and performers bring their expertise into the classroom, offering students a firsthand look at the many ways creativity can become a profession. Professional partnerships further enrich the arts experience. Through collaborations with organizations such as the Saint Louis Dance Theatre Trainee Program, students work alongside accomplished artists while developing their own skills as creators, performers, and collaborators. These experiences help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the wider world of the arts.

At Nerinx, independence is woven into the fabric of our educational experience. Seniors have the opportunity to earn Open Campus, a privilege that allows them to leave campus during designated times when they are not scheduled in class. Grounded in our philosophy that Trust Empowers, Open Campus reflects the responsibility, maturity, and good judgment students develop throughout their high school experience. Whether meeting friends for coffee, running a quick errand, or enjoying lunch in Webster, students experience the freedom to make decisions independently while preparing for the expectations of college and life beyond Nerinx.
