PGA REACH NEW ENGLAND

"Impacting lives through the game of golf"

ANoteFromPresidentRobJarvis,PGA

Greetings PGA REACH New England Friends and Family,

It is with great pleasure that I present you with our annual Impact Report, some of the exciting programs, partnerships, and initiatives our NEPGA Professionals and staff delivered during the 2022 season. For the second straight year, our foundation has grown leaps and bounds from its humble beginnings’ thanks in part to the renewed interest in the game of golf. Looking back upon the 2022 season, we have managed to increase the quantity and more importantly, the quality of the various initiatives under each of our three Pillars of Impact: Diversity & Inclusion, Veterans and Youth Development. At no other time in the foundation’s history have we seen such interest, both from within and outside the golf industry, in the programs we deliver every day to the golfing community across New England. However, there is still much more we can do to help those who now depend on the great game of golf because of our efforts.

2022 was a great year for partnerships as we were fortunate to introduce our initiatives to wonderful organizations like the Side-by-Side Charitable Foundation, Gorton & Company, and the Eversource Veterans Association. Coupled with the continued support of friends from Avidia Bank, Forward Financing, and Tournament Solutions, our foundation truly has momentum heading into 2023 with partners who are ready to make a difference in the New England golfing community.

Another highwater mark for the year was our record-breaking awarding of Scholarships to young boys and girls looking to pursue higher education. Our foundation was proud to support over 40 different colleges or universities, both nationally and internationally, with $109,000 from our 14 different scholarships.

We also would like to acknowledge and welcome to the foundation family, six dynamic individuals who have made a commitment to impact lives through golf for years to come! Our inaugural Board of Trustees class includes passionate and kind men and women with impressive backgrounds, skill sets and networks –all of which will without doubt, take PGA REACH New England to the next level in 2023 and beyond!

Please enjoy the following pages and don’t forget to support the golfing journey of those that rely on PGA REACH New England however you can.

Sincerely,

OUR MISSION OUR MISSION

PGA Hope has given me a new perspective on life. Before I joined PGA HOPE New England, my life felt like an existence with not much to look forward to. With all my deployments as a hospital corpsman and witnessing the extreme psychological and physical pain that military patients can experience, then, going through the passing of my only son from a debilitating disease which took its toll on him for 34 years, I thought it was normal to feel numb. I forgot what it was like to feel happy or have something to look forward to. The HOPE program has made me feel alive and helps to alleviate my depression. I find meeting veterans of all ages and stages of life so very meaningful and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have this outlet in my life. I can say with certainty, that PGA HOPE not only saves lives, it makes life more engaging.

PGA HOPE Boston, our program dedicated to the Female Veteran community, is one of, if not the most rewarding program I have been a part of as a PGA Professional. These women are incredible! To be able to give back a little something for their service is the least we can all do. I can’t wait for the 2023 season.

Creative engagement experiences, stemming from instructional clinics, team events, networking opportunities and shopping experiences, allowed for beginners, to the novice golfer, a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the sport.

The Inaugural Women’s Networking Summit provided a jump start to our D&I Pillar of programs, offering a day of Connecting, Inspiring, Growing and Golf for over 150 female business professionals from across New England. Annually, this Summit looks to bring together and support ambitious female leaders from across New England, using the vehicle of golf to share bold ideas, update soft skills and utilize critical thinking to network with peers.

We wholeheartedly believe in their mission and support women in business – and on the green.

CAMP REACH

During a challenging time for any family with an ill child, our NEPGA Professionals truly impacted lives one week in August. Over 20 families were welcomed to Camp REACH, a traveling retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses, utilizing inflatable animals, mini-golf and more to help loving families experience the fun that the game of golf can bring.

DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT SKILLS COMPETITION

Our partners at PGA REACH New England have contributed so much to the athletes of Special Olympics- Massachusetts community. Not only did they host another incredible Birdies 2 Benefit, raising $50,000 to support our programs – including statewide golf tournaments – they also got to the root of what we do, by also hosting a Drive, Chip, and Putt competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Throughout each event, they support athletes so their PGA Members could truly experience inclusion.

Through the NEPGA, I've learned a lot about being a leader, being honest and having good sportsmanship. I'm so grateful to be recognized for exhibiting these traits through the foundation's scholarship program.
