Welcome to Northeast Theatre Tonight, we invite you to take a trip across the Atlantic, back to Wales in 1987. A time before mobile phones and social media. Life may have been a little simpler, but as you'll soon discover, people certainly weren't. This production marks a meaningful beginning for me, as it is my first at the helm of the theatre department here at Northeast. I have the privilege of following a director who dedicated twenty-five years to building and nurturing this programme. A quarter of a century represents countless productions, thousands of hours of rehearsals, and generations of students whose lives have been enriched by the experience of theatre. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Christopher Schager for the extraordinary foundation he has established. His commitment to the students and to the performing arts has left a lasting legacy, and I feel both fortunate and honored to inherit a programme with such a strong sense of purpose and tradition. My hope is not simply to preserve what he has built, but to continue developing it in a way that honors his work and creates exciting opportunities for future generations. Working with the students on this production has been a wonderful introduction to this next chapter. Comedy driven by dialogue and character demands careful listening, precise timing, and a willingness to trust one another. Our cast has approached the challenge with enthusiasm, dedication, and a healthy sense of humor. I am enormously proud of their efforts and of the work of everyone involved, both onstage and behind the scenes. My heartfelt thanks go to my wife Allyson, who was also a student in this very program 20 years ago and who has been my sounding board and my rock whilst I navigate this crazy play and also my colleagues who make theatre at Northeast possible. It is a genuine pleasure to become part of a community that values the arts and understands the importance of giving young people a place to create, explore, and grow. And finally, thank YOU for being here. Theatre has a wonderful way of bringing people together, whether across generations, cultures, or, in tonight's case, a few thousand miles and nearly forty years. So, settle in and enjoy an evening in Wales, circa 1987. The fashions may have changed, but human nature, it seems, hasn't improved all that much. Enjoy the show! Daniel Nicholls - Director
