A bid to keep NZ Classic Motorcycles in Nelson has failed, with the announcement that the multi-million motorbike collection has found a new permanent home in Invercargill. The Tom Sturgess-owned collection of close to 300 motorcycles has been purchased by Jocelyn and Scott O’Donnell, directors of Bill Richardson Transport World in Invercargill, and will be housed in the city’s CBD. The Haven Rd museum closed its doors to the public in April, following an announcement from Tom in February that the closure was a result of his recent illness. Adrian Curtis, manager of Tyres and More in Nelson, had been on a mission to gather support to keep the collection in Nelson, and although he says it’s a shame to see it go, he’s happy to see it stay in New Zealand. “I’m disappointed for Nelson, but you’d have to argue that it’s a great day for New Zealand to have it retained here,” he says. “We may have entered into it a bit late, but after a really good start our
