Backpackers on Haven Rd – were in the very early stages, in fact most were handdrawn. Light Nelson is back Light Nelson is back and brighter than ever, and beginning this Friday night over 60 installations will be lighting up Queens Gardens and other parts of the city. It’s the third time Nelson has produced the community focussed winter festival, and Light Nelson Trust chair Brian Riley says he is confident the event would be a great experience for everyone this year. The NMIT campus will also host installations, and part of Hardy St will be closed off with food stalls. Brian says he has been “blown away” with the community involvement, with children all over town contributing various projects. Light Nelson runs from 5:30pm to 9:30pm each evening from Friday July 8 to Tuesday July 12. Maps of the installations at lightnelson.org.nz.
LIGHT NELSON IS BACK: Madeline Shallcrass reaches out to touch the light beams from a display at the last Light Nelson in Queen’s Gardens. This year’s Light Nelson starts on Friday night.
