Kids give TRYathlon a go Fifteen hundred and three children were winners at the Weet Bix TRYathlon, completing a swim, bike and run all in the name of giving it a go. Although inclement weather threatened the event, the 20 year anniversary “couldn’t be better,” with Nelson’s trademark sun shining against

the odds. “It’s all about getting kids away from the Playstation, and the TV, whatever else they do; to get out, get some fresh air, get some exercise, get some good breakfast,” says Ettienne McClintock, of the senior management team for the event.

The event drew thousands to Tahunanui Beach, enjoying the attractions, a Weet-Bix breakfast and cheering on the children. Proceeds from the event go to the Weet-bix TRYathlon Foundation and the make a Wish Foundation, and every participant was awarded a medal.
