OMG isn’t it great to feel some rays of sunshine on your skin at last? This might seem like a weird comment from someone who on a different day/ night essentially likes a more vampire like timetable, but, come on: sunshine in daylight hours please!
They say you can’t have everything but a girl can hope right?
Talking about differences I really wanted to address that in this issue particularly because we are working with the wonderful Star Lover and the newly renamed Bone Yard. Two of our very favourite clients.
Why? Individuality that’s why!
Your image is frankly how you connect with the outside world, so having the power to express yourself without having to utter a single world is incredibly powerful, it’s a crucial part of our identities.
The summer is here and along with her, festival fever, it's such an exciting time to get out and about and show everyone what/who you really are, maybe get up and dance?
We just hope to inspire you just a little within these pages.

Lotions potions and other stuff to help ensure that you leave the festival relatively unscathed.
Try making a natural sun screen, simply blend Aloe Vera gel, Sun Flower oil and a little water before you go just incase the shy British sun puts in an appearance.
Of course if the sun is shining the midges will be out come sun down.
Use essential oils as natural repellents. Citronella, peppermint oil, lavender and eucalyptus can all be used to repel midges by spraying your equipment or surroundings and even diluting for personal use. Citronella candles can be used to prevent midges from closing in on a localised area aka your tent.
Festival hangover? don’t let your hangover ruin part two of the festival
The obvious one is drink water, mmmm not very rock and roll and while most over the counter stuff won’t help much there is evidence to prove that drinking Korean pear juice ‘before’ you indulge will go a long way to stopping you getting the hangover in the first place l
Leaving you fresh for another day :)

Last year at the Silent Disco on King Eddy's beach, Tynemouth we thought we'd take a picnic in as you get hungry all that dancing. I had this clever plan to smuggle beers (well not even beers…non alcoholic beers) I know even worse…but I had just starting the sobriety and didn't think they would sell any. So I thought genius pringle tube, they will never know! They fit like a dream, feeling all smug getting my headphones thinking great not spotted until the security asked to look in my bag. Still feeling cocky when she grabbed the pringles thinking nah all good, but as she shook the tube only to say that I'd didn't sound like crisps we all laughed. It was so funny, who actually thought this it was a good idea and would get away with it…ME!
A few years ago now, pI got invited to the Secret Garden party. I was incredibly excited because Gary Newman was playing. Love him!
So I decided to invite along one of my besties Gemma Ramage (named and shamed). We agreed that I would take along a very posh picnic consisting of champagne, canapés, tortilla española and serrano ham that kind of thing so that we could show off when we got there. We parked easily and I was unpacking the picnic champagne flutes etc. Gemma’s job was to put up the tent as she’s no stranger to do a camping so imagine my surprise when suddenly she says oh my God I forgot the tent pegs, suddenly we went from showing off to looking like complete amateurs. We were really lucky in the end the picnic was so good that’s we bribed our closest neighbours to let us have one peg from each of their tents. Needless to say that was a fabulous weekend happy days :) l
looking like complete
What great news, when so many dance clubs have fallen by the wayside, that our very own Man Power (Geoff Kirkwood) to his mates, managed to pull off not only a fun and incredibly successful night of his own, but actually take on the space for others to enjoy and put on their own events.
We love it when a plan comes together, and to be fair when we were there at the very first AYA it already smelled of success. Granted we were a little sceptical when we found out that the Me Me Me party was to be in a social club in North Shields, but in all honesty that is in fact (in hindsight) part of its charm. King Street Social transported me back to younger days at the working men’s club in Durham where I felt you knew everyone & you usually did.
After some investment this space has become a haven for the dancers amongst us, with a top draw sound system and cheap drinks it is now one of our go to party places.
The ache for home always lives in us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.
Congratulations Mr Kirkwood and co, and a HUGE thank you l
Not all Mexicans are created equal.
The first thing that comes to mind (if you have spent any time in Mexico) is how authentic this place looks. It’s hardly surprising considering that the group of guys behind this particular venture have been around for a while now. This is definitely not their first rodeo, and it shows.
It’s so well thought out, and I mean right down to the 60s retro postcard vibe ‘wish you were here’ in the ladies. The lighting and decor are bright bold and colourful, you can totally imagine a mariachi band popping up from somewhere!
However we came to eat, well, and drink, although my partner in crime on this occasion was on the Corona zero, I opted for a Paloma an absolute Mexican classic it did not disappoint. If you like tequila it would be my choice it’s refreshing with enough of a kick to lift your spirits (pardon the pun)
I also loved the reference to Paloma Faith’s 30 minute love affair in the drink description, like I said there guys are very aware that the devils in the detail.
Seated in the window seat in the sunshine we decided on chilli con carne nachos, talk about loaded, they had everything and some.
After which we opted for sharing 6 tacos and one side, cheesy fries, two beef tacos two pork and 2 chicken.
I was a lot of food, but a lot of great food is good right?
We overwhelmingly decided that our fave was the beef, although I thoroughly recommend trying one of the sharers.
Great food great vibe, really authentic. And apparently there’s more left to come. They plan on extending the now two floors up to the third.
Viva Mexico indeed, at Motel at least!! l
Check it out :)
Style comes and goes, Good design is a language not a style thats why we were made up to see NE LOVE amongst this years OUTSTANDING pieces at this years degree show at the Assembly House and Arts Centre.
You go guys!

“ Handle them carefully for words have more power than atom bombs” Your mind may be racing with so many thoughts and these thoughts could spill out of your mouth without being filtered. Walk a tightrope with your tongue, and be careful and mindful of what you say. Stay away from gossip or untruths, they will come back and possibly bite you on your backside! Remember, the words you speak create the world you inhabit. Speak your mind, just make sure it’s kind.
The old adage says that if you ‘look after your pennies, the pounds will look after themselves’ This may have worked in your grandparents’ times, yet they had lived through rationing and came from a scarcity mindset. You are being asked to look at old family or societal ideas around money and finance and flip it into the modern day. The laws of the universe state that when you give you receive, whatever you give out comes back to you ten-fold. You are being asked to let go rather than hold on, there is much abundance wanting to make its way to you, yet you must clear a space to receive it.
Let your mind take a much-needed vacation, You are the sign of the zodiac that deals with facts and figures, strategy and plans, no wonder you are feeling exhausted! The mental mind-space is not a playground. You are being urged to allow yourself to imagine possibilities without limits, to cut loose from the shoulds and embrace the what-ifs. The fun stuff comes when you are not strictly sticking to the script. Taking risks could get you further than any plan can.
Your inner child wants your attention now, when you look back at how far you have come you can be proud of yourself, so many lessons and so many changes that you have experienced have gotten you to where you are now, yet there could be a feeling of melancholy as you realise how fast time passes. Allow the child in you to be nurtured, and become the person you needed when you were young, what advice would you give to your younger self? Someone from your past may reappear and give you the chance to handle things differently. Emotions may arise yet they are only coming to the surface to be healed. Feeling is your way through it is the sat nav of your soul.
LeoYour big, bold heart is not just brave, it is also filled with loving wisdom. You are being asked to call on your emotional intelligence, and find the sweet spot between the head and your heart, allow them to collaborate on any decisions that may arise, you are stronger when they work together. Loved ones may need your support at this time, and your calm demeanour and gentle kindness will be in high demand, You may even be offered a new venture in the caring or healing field. Love is the only commodity that you get more of by giving it away, so open your heart to whoever and whatever needs a piece of it to help them on their way.
Change can be painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong. You are in a transitioning phase, which is a realignment of the self. We can all get stuck in the what could have been’s, yet please know that rejection is projection and the universe will never take something away without giving better back in return. Letting go and healing can be a lonely time, yet the universe always has your back, sunshine and magic are on the horizon and know that smooth seas do not make skilled sailors. Old chapters need to be closed and new books written, trust that help is coming in maybe very unexpected ways. You’ve got this and the universe has you.
Let’s be human together... ‘Happiness is only real when shared’ So many phrases coming through for you. Love makes the world go round, to have the rainbow you must first put up with the rain etc... You are about to be blessed beyond measure as the cosmic, karmic worlds entwine and bring you someone who sings from the very same songsheet as you. This type of connection is what poets, philosophers and songwriters have written about for centuries. There are no big bangs or lavish parades, just simple truth and a harmonising of souls. Fairytales may not be true, yet you are about to experience your happy ever after. Believe it and you will see it!
Your mind is sharp and so is your tongue, yet you do not speak to hurt. You may be asked to speak up for yourself or on behalf of someone. Your logic and intellect will help you hold those deep emotions at bay and keep communication clear and concise with no dramatics. It is time to take a stance of leadership and not settle for anything less than you know is right. There is a change in the air and you are the one to implement the changes that will aid all involved. I hear there is an opening at number 10 if you are interested....
It’s a wrap! A cycle is closing for you, yet don’t let this make you sad, every ending is a new beginning and the universe is presenting a door to a whole new world for you. Sometimes we can outgrow things that we once found so comfy yet life is all about change, it is our only constant. This is a monumental time for you, one you will look back on in years to come and see as a giant milestone in your life. This could even indicate long-distance travel. Whatever it is know that it is sprinkled with fairy dust and lashings of abundance await, you even get to have the cherry on top. Whoop, whoop!
What is gone is gone, you cannot get it back so you are urged to turn your face towards the sun and let the dark clouds fall behind you. Your past may not have turned out how you envisioned it and you may have lost your faith yet your future is filled with so much more than you even begin to realise. Your heart only breaks in order to let more love in and old pain out. The stagnation and self-pity have had their time, yet now it is time to move out of the hole you have been drowning in. The stars are guiding you, but you must look up to see them. Only look back to see how far you have come. Bigger and better is on the horizon, stand up tall and see for yourself.
You pay your money you take a chance... Risk is offering rewards for you, but you must roll with the changes that are coming, you cannot stop them anyway so let them take you to a place or space you may not know. Opportunity is knocking and I hope you will answer as fate is wonderfully guiding you. Look out for synchronicity, signs and open doors. When you take one step towards the gods they take ten towards you. Diving blessings coming right at ya!
Hi, this is your future self and I have a message for you, feel free to take notes... You end up with it all, the wealth, the partner, the land, the warmth. Prosperity, emotional, spiritual and material abundance are all here waiting for you when you get here. The road may not be smooth, there are a few bumps along the way and you will have to face some challenges or hold-ups, enjoy them all, they are all getting you to where you will be and each one leaves you with a funny anecdote to tell. All you need to bring is your faith, a few steady habits, courage and the ability to dream bigger than you ever envisaged, oh and don’t forget to shine. I’ll be seeing you soon.
