FROM THE OWNER Dear Prospective Home Buyer, We will never forget the first time we realized this house was “home”. We had been out home shopping all day, for the third weekend in a row, and decided on a whim to check it out. It was dusk out when we drove by it and not a single light was on. We decided to take a chance and drive up the driveway, eager to get a decent view of the front, to see if we wanted to tour it early the next week. The minute we turned off the engine, we looked at each other and smiled - we both just knew this was it. This home is incredibly special to the Richland Meadows neighborhood as it’s one of the four original homes built over thirty years ago, back when “living in the woods” took on a different meaning. The original owners wanted a strong, energy efficient home that felt cozy, yet was expansive enough that they could raise their family and entertain their guests. They were also nature-lovers at heart, which means that all of the landscaping you see was carefully chosen by them to create a breath-taking experience each season. We constantly find ourselves in awe of what beauty pops up next, as well as that the large herds of deer don’t like any of it! Inside is where we felt the most at home. Blending the original architecture with some modern updates from the next owners, we loved that our two-story fireplace provided a cabin-like feel in the fall and winter, while the more modern kitchen provided us a great space to cook for our friends and family. But, if there was any room in the home we will miss the most, it’s the two-story sunroom, which also doubles as a greenhouse (with the help of some special technology). In the colder months, we’d take hot chocolate out there and watch the snowfall and in the warmer months, we’d leave the doors open to let our little dog keep watch over the wildlife passing through. In the short time we lived in this home, we renovated the almost 1300 square feet of space over the garage to create our own private master suite. It gave us each our own walk-in closets, our dog a large place to run around before bed, and our guests their own private master bedroom on the other side of the house. As for the neighborhood itself, we have yet to meet an unfriendly face! In the morning, you will see people jogging along the street or walking their dogs, waving hello at each other as they pass by. In the late afternoon, you will see children riding their bikes, or people taking leisurely strolls. And while every neighbor keeps to themselves, they are also warm, receptive, and welcoming. We have yet to meet an unfriendly face! Unfortunately for us, we have to wave a tearful goodbye to move onto new opportunities, outside of Virginia. We will never forget how truly amazing our experience was, living in this home, as well as the Richland Meadows Community and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
