FROM THE OWNER Dear Prospective Home Buyer, I moved into the home with my two young daughters in1997 and now it’s 23 years later and time to start the next chapter in my life. I look back on our years in our comfortable and beautiful home and I’m filled with gratitude for the blessing of being able to raise my daughters here and call Island Creek my home community. We’ve forged lifelong friendships, we had neighbors who always had a smile to greet us with and a hand to help when needed, we had fun walking and riding bikes on the paths, went to great schools, played on teams, worshiped at community churches and enjoyed everything the area has to offer. When I first moved here, from Los Angeles, I was hopeful that the schools here would help my children to thrive and I had heard a lot about Fairfax County School District. I was overjoyed when my daughter’s third grade teacher came to our home to say hello and meet her new student. Through the years my children realized a joy for learning and had a wonderful experience at the local schools –Island Creek Elementary and Hayfield Middle and Secondary School. Both girls graduated with honors and went on to excellent colleges and now have thriving careers. I am so grateful for the dedicated teaching professionals in the Fairfax County School District. Island Creek is an active and friendly community, take a stroll after dinner and you’ll see familiar faces and get to know the names of everyone’s pet and their owners too. I would enjoy seeing Emily the Doberman pincher walk along with her favorite stuffed toy in her mouth as she and her mom Susan would take their daily stroll. I also enjoyed little Coco who was a miniature chocolate poodle and super stud or at least wanted to be one. In the springtime, it’s not uncommon to see the geese and her gosling crossing the roadway near the pond and when you’re really lucky you’ll see a beautiful red cardinal fly and rest in the trees by the deck in the early morning while you’re in the kitchen enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea. There is much that I am thankful for as I look back on the 23 years here in this home. Growing up, my family moved around a lot and I never did stay in one place for more than a few years. When I decided to move to Island Creek, I had hoped it would be a place I could set roots into, that hope turned into a dream come true. My hope now is for you, that this house becomes your home and that you fill it with joy and experience the memories that make living your best life possible.
