TO BE READ IN ALL CHURCHES IN JAMAICA UNION CONFERENCE
Dear Brethren
Sincere greetings.
The recent economic and political crises in Haiti have been in the news for some time now, and the effects have been devastating for the citizens, including many of our members. Tremendous loss has been experienced in their livelihood, work and homes, and the process of rebuilding is very daunting.
The Jamaica Union Conference and all the Conferences in Jamaica have agreed to contribute financially to assist our brothers and sisters. We would also want to give our members the opportunity to do so, hence, the lifting of a special offering on Sabbath, June 29, 2024, will be very much appreciated. Thereafter, if you still wish to contribute you can do so by clearly indicating same on your tithe envelope and it will be appropriated accordingly.
Importantly also, we ask that you pray for the people and government of Haiti. Pray also for the mission there, that the work of the Church will remain steadfast inspite of the challenges.
May God bless each of you as you join in support of our fellowmen.
Yours in His Service

After five years of not having a face-to-face camp, we are finally able to say that July 9-16, signals the grand return to our camping home, Camp Don in Robin’s Bay, St. Mary!
We are pleased to announce Summer Camp 2024 under the theme “Dream Big!” The Story of Joseph. This event promises to be a fun-filled, spiritually fulfilling camp where participants will learn more about the life and choices of Joseph, the dreamer, and how it relates to them in 2024
Art & Craft, Music, Digital Animation Workshops, and a Career Expo are some of the exciting activities that are planned for our youth to ensure that they are exposed to practical and spiritual skills that will help them to navigate today’s society.
The Sabbath July 13, 2024, will be celebrated as our Mid-Year Youth Rally– ‘Battle Ready’ The day promises to be one that will uplift our youth as they strive to remain ‘Battle-Ready’ in this Great Controversy just like Joseph was.
To help make this a reality for our youth, we are asking that your church sponsor at least two (2) delegates to Summer Camp. The camp fee will be $11,000.00.
We are also requesting donations of ground provisions and groceries such as flour, rice, oil, etc. to assist in offsetting some of the costs of hosting Summer Camp. Please contact Sis. Kymone Murray at (876) 842-3070 if you are willing to contribute. We would be grateful if you do same by June 28, 2024.
We are excited that renovation work has already begun at Camp Don to ensure that the campsite is ready. Let us gather the youth from across the conference and register them for camp!
Thank you for ensuring that your children and youth participate in this long-awaited event where they will learn that as they make Jesus the centre of their lives, He will help them not only to dream big and achieve it but to be ‘battle-ready!
May God continue to bless you in all your endeavours.
Yours in the Master’s service,
Pastor Raymond Douglas Youth & Public Campus Ministries and Communication Director
2. Returning The Tithe.
B. Where To Return —The tithe is the Lord’s and should be brought to the “storehouse” (conference treasury) through the church, in which the person’s membership is held, as an act of wor- ship. Where unusual circumstances exist, church members should consult with the officers of their local conference.
Notes: The Biblical admonition is: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there maybe meat in Mine house.” Malachi 3:10. The following statement appears in the Church Manual (1990 edition): “The tithe is the Lord’s and is to be brought, as an act of worship, to the conference/mission treasury through the church in which the person’s membership is held. Where unusual circum- stances exist, church members should consult with the officers of their conference/mission.” p. 133. Returning the tithe to one’s local church sets in motion the denomination’s plan for sharing in a fair and equitable way these financial resources with the world church. In recognition of the Bible plan and the solemn obligation that rests upon church members as children of God and members of His body, the church, all are encouraged to return a faithful tithe (one tenth of their increase or personal income) into the denomination’s treasury.
The tithe is not used or disbursed by the local church but is remitted to the conference treasurer. Thus the tithe from all the churches flows into the local conference treasury, which in turn remits one tenth of its total tithe income to the union. The union in turn forwards to the General Conference, or its divisions, one tenth of its total tithe income. Thus the local conference, the union, and the General Conference are provided with funds with which to support the workers employed and to meet the expense of conducting the work of God in their respective spheres of responsibility and activity. In addition to remitting to the union 10 percent of their Tithe [21] income, local conferences/missions also remit through the union to the General Conference, or its divisions, an additional percentage of their tithe as determined by the General Conference Committee or division committee for the financing of the church’s program. These policies have been developed for the gathering and disbursing of funds in all the world and for the conducting of the business affairs of the cause. The financial and business aspect of the work are of great importance. They cannot be separated from the proclamation of the message of salvation; they are indeed an integral part of it.

Books are still available for sale and will be sold at Officers’ Council tomorrow. The Publishing Department will also have other books on sale.
Contact the North East Jamaica Conference Publishing Department office for prices.
I am more anxious to see a wide circulation for this book than for any others … for in The Great Controversy, the last message of warning to the world is given more distinctly than in any of my other books.

Jamaica Union
Dear Brethren:
Christian Greetings!
It is an honour to greet you once more in the precious name of Jesus our soon coming King. I wish to express deep appreciation for your work in educating and equipping every member of the family; a work that Ellen G. White says should never be neglected.
I write to solicit your support for our National Men & BEAMS Convention which is to be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Portmore, on Sabbath, August 31, 2014, commencing at 9:00 a.m.
The theme is, “Men Inspire: Each Man Memtors One.” Our Keynote Speaker is Dr. Leslie Pollard, President of Oakwood University, supported by Dr. Kevin Goulbourne, Director of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health and Wellness and myself as the Director for Men’s Ministries of Jamaica Union.
Please help us promote this programme to gather over 3,000 men at the Portmore Church. Oxford shirts are being printed for those interested, and each conference has chosen a specific colour. The cost for each shirt is J$3,000.00. Order forms are attached. Please make your payment at your local conference and send us a copy of your receipt through the Men’s Ministries Department or the Family Ministries Department of your Conference.
Please share the attached flyer widely and direct men from Morant Point to Negril Point to the Portmore SDA Church for the National Men & BEAMS Convention on August 31, 2024.
God’s Richest Blessings be yours.
