COMMUNITY CARE

Associated Physicians

Associated Physicians is an independent medical practice that prides itself on being run by physicians, not insurance companies or administrative bureaucracy. In an increasingly complex healthcare system, Associated Physicians favors long-term doctor-patient relationships devoted to your best health.

Founded in 1946, Associated Physicians has built a patient-centric practice, sacrificing early founders’ salaries to ensure care was given for every individual’s needs at all costs. 79 years later, patients can be seen at this multi-specialty clinic in a number of departments including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB-GYN, Podiatry, Physical and Behavioral Therapy. “To ‘be seen’ at our clinic is to be understood as more than just a set of symptoms or test results. It means receiving care that is designed around your specific life circumstances, priorities and challenges,” says Gil Roth,

PhD, and clinical psychologist. This unique group of dedicated physicians continues to grow in strength and size at their original location in the Hilldale neighborhood on Madison’s west side, but also beyond.

Dr. Shefaali Sharma, an OB-GYN physician, describes the clinic’s bright future by saying, “This legacy drives us to keep doing better ... and push through challenges that come with being an independent practice in a world where corporate medicine is giant. [Our] values will never change. Our patients will always truly be seen at Associated Physicians, no matter what.”

The Madison Symphony Orchestra’s story of innovation, passion for music, education, resilience and vision spans a century. Beginning in the fall of 2025, MSO begins its 100th anniversary of bringing music to life in Madison.

The 2025/2026 season, which runs from October 2025 through May 2026, features eight triple-performance subscription concerts showcasing orchestral music performed by MSO musicians and worldrenowned guest soloists. It also includes two MSO at the Movies liveto-film concerts. This season celebrates Maestro John DeMain’s 32nd and final year as music director.

The “100 Years Together in Music” celebration opens on September 19 and 20, 2025. On Friday night, John DeMain conducts the MSO and pianist Olga Kern for “Pure Joy Opening Night: Magical Tchaikovsky & Maestro’s Dinner,” an all-Tchaikovsky concert in Overture Hall. A cocktail reception and formal dinner in the lobby follow the concert. On Saturday, “Soar with Cirque de la Symphonie & Party into the Night” brings together the magic of circus arts and the MSO performing music from famous film scores.

A highlight of the season is the creation of an original composition for orchestra by Jake Heggie in collaboration with librettist Gene Scheer and John DeMain. This major new work, “EARTH: A Choral Symphony,” premieres at the final symphony subscription concerts in May 2026.

The anniversary celebration concludes June 13 and 14, 2026, with “A Community Gift and Dream — for the Love of Music,” a free, two-day open house featuring MSO musicians and diverse community groups performing throughout Overture Center. YOGA Marit Sathrum & Hannah Moran

Inner Fire Yoga

Inner Fire Yoga has been a cornerstone of the Madison yoga community since its founding by Marit Sathrum (pictured at right) in 2002. She created Inner Fire Yoga with the mission to create a community space where people could cultivate healthy bodies, clear minds and generous hearts through a disciplined hot yoga practice.

Inner Fire Yoga is a space where people experience the transformative power of hot yoga from the inside out. The studio’s name reflects this concept, “Inner Fire,” symbolizing a fiery discipline that can be sparked and fueled inside of each of us.

Marit, her dedicated team including Hannah Moran (pictured at left), Director of Marketing and Operations, and the many exceptional teachers and staff foster a community where individuals can come together to practice yoga, meditate and connect internally and externally with others. These deep relationships serve as a reminder that joining a yoga studio is not just about learning yoga, but also about creating bonds with other like-minded people along the way.

The studio is one of the earliest to introduce Original Hot Yoga to the Madison community. This highly disciplined style of yoga emphasizes strength, flexibility and mindfulness and always is practiced in a hot room to promote focus, cardiovascular activity and detoxification through sweating.

Throughout its history, Inner Fire Yoga has remained deeply rooted in its core values of compassion, discipline and integrity and has become an iconic hub for Madison’s wellness community, with 80 classes per week at two studios, regular workshops and events, meaningful member recognition, charitable giving and its 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. It remains an essential part of the Madison yoga community, inspiring individuals to cultivate strength, balance and inner peace. Inner Fire Yoga stands as a testament to Sathrum’s vision and the lasting impact of yoga on the lives of those who enter its doors.
