November comments More comments from the TMX editor "Sully" about improving the Maxxis series in the UK. More spectators are always welcome, gone are the days when we had to fork out to watch "scrambles". A pity as it did improve the finances of clubs, I know what clubs pay today for the use of permanent courses and it is frightening. Would youth entries improve the meeting, would the meeting be too long? Many clubs have to leave venues by six in the evening on Sundays so maybe races would have to be shortened. It is a tricky subject, please let TSM know what you think. Congrats to all the new World champs', Toni Bou, Billy Green in trial 125 and what do you think about the winner of trial 2 being a previous trial GP rider for some while. I'm sure Toby Martyn won't mind he's a nice lad! Many thanks to all the riders for giving us a truly remarkable and exciting year. The UK has some good talent coming on in all disciplines, well done! I'm sure everyone will wish Jonny Walker a speedy recovery from his enduro injuries. I cringe when I hear of the falls that riders have today, I know my wife used to dread my return from events (only trials) with the news that "if it hurts in the morning I will go to the doctors"! This brings me back to the costs of running a motocross meeting, the medical teams are of course essential but the cost of having more than one paramedic at events knocks clubs profits at once. I won't go into the NHS criticism here that would not be correct, but I can't help thinking that you might get more help if you said a person had fallen off a ladder at home rather than racing a motorbike! Now on a less sombre note, my collection of ancient South Midland Reviews had a revealing article from the late and great Fred Henley of the ACU Ben Fund and the now defunct Mid Bucks club. He told readers that if they donated the cost of a pint of beer or a packet of ten "ciggys" or even two ice creams per year the fund would be self supporting. Think about it! Many of us have benefitted from the generosity of the Ben fund. Dave Porter is the man to contact for the South Midland Centre , or of course you can send it straight to the ACU at Rugby. Keep upright for as long as poss', all the best. New Subscription Rates Due to a number of increased costs outside our control it will be necessary to increase subscription rates with effect from 1st January 2019. The new subscription rates will be £25 2nd class post and £28 1st class post.

Trials Academy QQ By Roger Johns After 3 very successful Southern Centre academy days, the XHG Tigers MCC are going to run our 4th and final day of this year, Tigers are one of the oldest clubs in the centre with a long history, and are looking to re establish them selves, we are sure it will be a great success. All the days have been well received and well attended, with lots of good feedback, so if you fancy a fun days training at very a reasonable cost get yourself booked in. 5
