Jody Palubiski first conceived of Beertown in 2009, “There was a greatarticle in GQ Magazine,” he said. “It was called ‘The Birth of the Modern Beer Bar.’ And even just the tone of that… it just had a cool factor to it. It reminded me of that Miles Davis album, ‘The Birth of Cool’ and I couldn’t stop thinking about where we could go with that.”
And so, the target was set to create a modern beer bar where guests can feel welcomed, and even though they don’t know anyone, they feel like they are in a room full of friends. Where they can enjoy a scratch-cooked meal prepared by our culinary brigade headed up by the notable Chef Todd Clarmo, paired with selections from our expertly curated beer & beverage list crafted by our Beer Czar, and served with the world-class Charcoal Brand of Hospitality.
Beertown Public House is the leader in the craft beer dining revolution. Established in 2012 and comes from a rich history in hospitality dating back to 1956. The first location opened in Cambridge Ontario and has forever changed the landscape of craft beer consumption in the communities it serves. Maintaining ‘A Beer for Everyone’ ethos, we can deliver a beer for everyday of the year through our proprietary programs such as our Beertown xx Collaboration Nation releases, rotating bottle and draught portfolio, one-off and exclusive product releases and Beer dinners with guest chefs and brewmasters. Come share in our passion for craftsmanship.

Hello, I'm Cotton! A small American Eskimo that is 8 Years Young. My favourite things to do are meet dog friends and get all the belly rubs. I was surrendered to Dog Tales when my family could no longer care for me due to a growing family. My friends at Dog Tales discovered I have multiple healed fractures for unknown reasons. They are helping me get better and I don't let my injuries stop me from having fun! I'm always happy and will definitely make you smile with all my funny quirks. I can be that positive light you need in your life!
My name is Penelope! I am a 4 Year Old Shepherd Mix. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. Everyone I meet always tells me how fun I am. I love to romp around, play and go for super long walks. I'm a bundle of energy! My friends at Dog Tales have been teaching me leash manners and how to meet dogs. I will pretty much do just about anything for a treat... I would really love to have a family of my own to do fun activities with. Could you be the one for me?
Hi neighbours! My name is Rosie and I am a 20 year old green wing macaw! I enjoy music from Queen and Elton John, and love dancing till my heart's content. I'm told I'm a troublemaker, as I constantly try to get into things that I'm not supposed to... Follow my adventures @abbysamazon
I'm Lawrence - a loveable Boston Terrier! I joined the Playter family as a birthday gift to my mom Millicent. I recently celebrated my 5th birthday on July 20th and I still have the energy of a young rascal! I love to go for long walks, chase cats, destroy stuffed animals and eat steak. As a matter of fact, I love ALL foodeven cat food. But I dislike when anyone or anything is getting more attention than me!
Woof! Hi, my name is Marshall. My parents didn't expect me to grow to be 120 lbs when they rescued me at 16 weeks, but don't let my size and two different coloured eyes scare you... I am the sweetest and most loving boy. I especially love my family. They call me their gentle giant!
Hi there! My name's Tokyo, but you can call me Toki for short. I am a 1 year old Netherland Dwarf rabbit. I love to run around my house and jump on the couches! My family loves to feed me treats, and sometimes I do tricks for them, like spinning in a circle and walking on my hind legs.

Everyone loves Mary Georgopoulos and her smile – she is a true example of an individual worthy of being an Abuse Hurts Hero of the Month! A loyal individual, Mary has been engaged in many local fundraisers and charity events where she gives so much of her time in order to ensure every event is successful.
Mary has connected Abuse Hurts with many wonderful people and businesses and we are only one of the many charities and cultural entities that she supports. She held her first fundraiser for Abuse Hurts many years ago at Jonathan’s Restaurant in Aurora and has been a great friend to the charity ever since. She was instrumental in getting the Hope Boutique pop-up thrift store running in Aurora – starting with a stellar opening night that saw hundreds of guests come to enjoy refreshments and purchase beautiful, gently used clothing and accessories.
Mary is also on the Abuse Hurts fundraising committee and added her experience and elegant flair to Abuse Hurts’ amazing Spring Fashion show event in June. She shows such community dedication in all aspects whether it be Cultural, Charity or Sports. Mary’s continuous service and dedication is extremely admirable and what makes this fact even more special is how humble she is. Mary’s countless achievements and give-back nature really shines through - so bright that she was selected as the Town of Aurora – 2016 Citizen of the Year as well as the 2009 Aurora Chamber - Business Person of the Year. Thank you, Mary!

Hello, Neighbours!
As I have more time to be in our community over the summer, I am now visiting businesses and organizations that received funding from the 2023 Canada Summer Jobs program (CSJ). On my CSJ tour, I visited Lake St. George to see a summer camp hosted by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. I have also visited CHATS and Play Forever in Crescent Village in Richmond Hill. The CSJ program is providing 70,000 jobs this summer across Canada, with our riding of Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill receiving over a million dollars in funding to support 263 jobs for local youth. Helping with affordability and climate change, our government has introduced the Climate Action Incentive payment. As of July 14th, every resident who filed a tax return would have received this payment either by direct deposit or cheque. A family of four in Ontario will receive $976 over the course of the year in quarterly payments.
I look forward to continuing to see you at the many summer events in our community. I am often at the Aurora Farmers’ Market or the town concerts. On August 1st, I will be at the Aurora Town Hall to commemorate Emancipation Day. I am also visiting neighbourhoods to see how things are going and introducing myself. Stay tuned to my website and social media for information on my Coffee & Chats which provide an opportunity for me to meet with you and hear your concerns.

The Rose of Sharon - York Academy graduates had a wonderful send off at their Celebration Night, thanks to their amazing teacher, Melissa Froio and the dedicated RoS staff, who always love to plan a party! Melissa and the Academy’s YCDSB principal, Danny DiLallo, congratulated the graduates and celebrated this milestone with them on June 21st.
During my time at Rose of Sharon, I have grown more than I ever thought I could. I came here feeling so alone and confused. As a young mom, there’s so much to learn and I had no idea where to start. Rose of Sharon helped not only with my education, but also with emotional and practical supports. They made me feel so welcomed from the very first day. My education was my number one priority: I wanted to graduate so I could apply to college and get back on track. When I first started at York Academy, I was struggling mentally, I didn’t know who I was anymore. But throughout my time here I realized my own self worth, and how much more I could accomplish with that focus. Support is not something I was lacking in my life, but everyone here supported me in ways I didn't even know I needed. The support I received was more than I could have ever expected. I was shocked to find out that they offer practical supports like groceries, toiletries, and anything I could ever need for Lucas. There are also counselors to talk to. They genuinely listen, making me feel heard. Everyone here makes you feel validated about your issues no matter how big or small they are.
The Child Development Centre was a huge part of my success here at Rose of Sharon. Once Lucas was old enough to go to the CDC, I was able to really get some school work done. Not only that, having time to myself during the day was extremely helpful. I loved having the opportunity to focus solely on my learning goals during the day, so when I got home, I was excited to spend time with my baby and wasn’t overstimulated or frustrated from trying to juggle both. Without the CDC, I would not have been able to accomplish what I did in the time span I did it in.
My experience at Rose of Sharon was so much more than I thought it would be. I am so glad and thankful I decided to come here to finish high school and finally get my diploma. I cannot easily put into words how thankful I am and will always be grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for me.

It was a very hot, but amazing Canada Day, starting with the Aurora Canada Day Parade. Did you know that Aurora is Canada’s Birthday Town? Back in 1967, the residents of Richardson Drive threw a good-old fashioned street party on July 1st which grew over the years until an o cial proclamation earned Aurora the title of Canada’s Birthday Town in 1969. I was happy to see all the red and white colours and smiling faces in Aurora and then continuing in Newmarket with the Tim Hortons Canada Day festivities. Main Street was jam-packed with patriotic residents and Riverwalk Commons alive with music and exciting fire juggling.

Newmarket and York Region are leaders when it comes to keeping waste out of landfills, diverting almost two-thirds of it from landfill.
York Region’s waste diversion has ranked first among large urban municipalities for the past 10 years, diverting 65 per cent of its waste from landfill last year – a rate that is independently verified to ensure that Blue Box and Green Bin waste is recycled or composted. When you factor in the waste used to generate electricity, York Region diverts 92 per cent of its waste from landfills!
These great achievements demonstrate our collective commitment to reducing our impact on the planet. Congratulations and thank you Newmarket residents for your dedication to recycling, composting, and environmental sustainability.
This is a great example of how small steps repeated can have a big impact. Not wanting to rest on our laurels, town staff continue to engage residents about recycling. The Town recently won a silver award for its awareness campaign from the Municipal Waste Association as part of Plastic Free July.
No act is too small when comes to our planet. Being diligent about recycling and composting keeps more waste out of landfill and reduces demand for raw materials. Keep up the good work Newmarket!
