Building on the company’s comprehensive efforts to help slow the spread of the virus, on Friday, May 22 CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) opened 36 new COVID-19 test sites at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thru locations across New York. Additional test sites across the state and country will be announced by the end of the month.

These new sites will utilize self-swab tests and mark the next phase of the company’s nationwide COVID-19 testing strategy.

The test sites in New York are part of nearly 350 locations across 14 states including Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

“While the large-scale test sites we’ve been operating since early April have proven successful, this new approach allows us to utilize our presence

in communities across the country and bring testing closer to home,” said Larry J. Merlo, President and CEO, CVS Health.

“Our frontline employees will continue to play a critical role in the testing process, with members of their communities directly benefitting from their dedication and selflessness.”

Self-swab tests will be available to individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria, in addition to age guidelines.

Patients must register in advance at CVS.com to schedule an appointment.

Patients will be required to stay in their cars and directed to the pharmacy drive-thru window where they will be provided with a test kit and given instructions, and a CVS Pharmacy team member will observe the self swab process to ensure it is done properly. Tests will be sent to an independent, third-

Scanlon’s Traveling Salon is run by Eileen Scanlon, a fellow New Yorker whose mission is to cultivate a community based on kindness, respect and equality. Eileen has been a NYS Licensed Cosmetologist for over 30 years, however she has experience in many other industries as well. She has worked with corporate America, nonprofits, academia and local grassroots organizations. She is well-rounded and truly one of the kindest people I have ever met.

In 2010, Eileen began volunteering, offering free haircuts to people in need.

Eileen felt so overjoyed by helping others look and feel beautiful for free while working within various types of socio economic communities, that she eventually began her very own traveling salon. With its catchy slogan, Where Style Comes To You, Scanlon’s Traveling Salon now serves an abundance of people across Long Island.

As a licensed hair professional, Eileen has a following of paying customers, however her real passion lies with helping those who are not able to afford a haircut or hair process. Sometimes something as simple as gaining a new look can help a person feel better about him or herself and gain confidence again. Eileen generously and freely gives people that opportunity.

She also incorporates her love of social justice and advocacy into her business practice by using only vegan products.

During these trying times when only essential businesses are operating, Eileen has shifted her focus to helping the homless community, a group she feels extremely passionate for. She has been bringing homeless individuals food, clothes, blankets, shoes, etc. to help them feel loved and cared for.

Although she actively helps homless people throughout Long Island, she focuses a lot in East Meadow, a community she finds to have a large homeless population. “I’m one person trying desperately to make a difference,” says Eileen. “The ‘not in my backyard’ mentality needs to be a thing of the past!”

Her clients, along with local restaurants have donated food, gently used clothes, blankets, shoes and more for her to distribute. The homeless community needs attention and assistance and together we can give them the help they need.

One way we can start is by donating food, clothes, shoes, blankets, socks or any other important items to Eileen for her to distribute. She visits homeless individuals twice a day and any donations received will be handed out to those in need.
