Runner Jasmine Parreno Lets Nothing Stand In Her Way

Jasmine Parreno was an avid runner, and it was a huge part of her day-to-day life. Unfortunately, this passion of hers came under ﬁre when she was diagnosed with COVID-19 in 2021.

She battled a serious case of double pneumonia and both her lungs became severely damaged as a result. It was in those moments where she truly questioned if she would ever get the chance to run again. Persistent long haulers proceeded to present its symptoms with acute respiratory failure. Still, slowly but surely, she began to recooperate and has since recovered– despite some mild symptoms.

According to Jasmine, it was time for her to get back on her feet. She decided to challenge herself and hit the pavement once again. She ran her ﬁrst 5K with OG Training Academy in Lindenhurst.

She hopes that her story would serve as a means to spread motivation and hope to those that are struggling with any illness, whether it be mentally or physically. “Do not let an illness, of any kind, convince you that something is impossible,” Jasmine said. “It doesn’t mean that it will be easy, but deﬁnitely worth trying!”

Currently, Jasmine has signed up for her ﬁrst Sprint Triathalon with New York Triathalon at Rockaway Beach and will continue her running career, letting nothing stand in her way!
