John Theissen C h i l d r e n ’ s Foundation is a local non-profit that collects and distributes toys, provides hospitals and child-care facilities with therapeutic and recreational e q u i p m e n t , supports families with financial assistance to defray medical expenses, fulfills patient’s wishlists throughout the year (for those 18 years of age and younger) and assists sick and underpriviledged children in other ways that are needed.

Of course this charity experiences their busy season in the midst of the holidays, receiving and distributing lots of gifts for those in need, however, they make a large impact

She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. Lindenhurst, N.Y. 11757 or by mail, beginning December 2019 daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Tax Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. First half taxes are due December 1, 2019 payable to January 10, 2020 without penalty.

After January 10, 2020 one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31, 2020 after which date, additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, N. Y. 11901.

The Town of Babylon Tax Office will be accepting partial payments with penalty. Babylon Town Board Presents Donation Check To Long Island Cares Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer and the rest of the Town Board were proud to recently present Long Island Cares with a check for $48,562.50. This money

was raised from the 2019 Babylon Soldier Ride, where proceeds from the event were split between Long Island Cares and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Long Island Cares works to

help feed the hungry and provides for those in need on Long Island. Supervisor Schaffer and the Town Board thanked Long Island Cares for their valuable service to the community.

her. He first saw Sox when she was a puppy, finding her caught in concertina wire in their camp. He freed her, gave her food and water, and sent her on her way. However, Sox had different plans.

In the days that followed, Sox started coming back to their camp each day, feeling safe around the unit and seeking food and water. Some of the other men had even seen the dog being abused out on the streets. Soon, Sox began staying by their side all of the time, even tagging along on some of their missions. On a recent patrol, Sox ventured too far away from the unit and was whipped with a stick by a local. It was at that time that Captain Dave knew he could never leave her behind to fend for herself.

“The bond I have with Sox is something I didn’t expect, but I just can’t leave her behind,” says Captain Dave. “If I don’t bring her home with me I am afraid I’ll always regret it and wonder about what happened to her. I appreciate any assistance people can give in helping me to bring her home with me.”

We are grateful to be working with Nowzad shelter in Kabul, because without their assistance this pup would not have a chance of coming to America.”

Captain Dave is stationed in a remote area in Afghanistan. He is scheduled to come back home to the United States in early 2020. He can’t imagine leaving Sox behind because he loves
