North Babylon Appoints New Director Of Science degree in life science/ pre-med from New York Institute of Technology.

From there, she went on to earn her Master of Science degree in secondary education from Dowling College.

The North Babylon resident comes to the district after serving the Wyandanch School District for 20 years.

Ms. Miller also held other leadership roles, including dean of students for the Milton L. Olive Middle School.

Prior to her time at Wyandanch, she was also a life and science and physical science teacher at I.S. 5 - The Walter Crowley Intermediate School in Elmhurst and a biology teacher at Bay Shore High School.

Ms. Miller holds two New York State teaching certifications, including secondary level biology and general science, and a school district administrator certification. She earned her Bachelor of Science

at a professional level.

“My goal is to bring together the school and community through Community Engagement Efforts, working together to promote progressive education in the area of science, while celebrating the cultures and diversity that make up the North Babylon school district.”

Helping Hand Rescue Mission(HHRM) is a local non-profit organization that is based in Huntington, but serves people all over our island. Their mission is to improve the spiritual and temporal conditions of the children, families and people of the communities they serve by providing excellent service to all who come, whether they be rich or poor, high or low social status.

They are here to love, to serve and to give.

They are so excited to be hosting their first Community Share Day on Saturday, September 18th with the Huntington Assembly of God! This will be a fun and engaging new way for their kindhearted, caring donors to connect with the families that they serve in their beautiful Huntington Station community.

How does it work? You register online for a time slot. Then you neatly pack your car with the items you would like to share with the community, such as clothing, toys, household items, unexpired nonperishable food and any other items in good/new condition. Clothing must not be ripped, torn, or stained, missing buttons, or broken zippers. If you would like to give gift cards to families you may, but they ask that no cash is given. Also, no large electronics or furniture please.

You can sign up for a two-hour time slot, where they will have the cars set up “trunk-or-treat” style in the parking lot.

Community members will be able to walk around to the different cars and browse. You must stay by your

request.

There will be no charge for donating or receiving items at the event and HHRM reserves the right to review all items on the day of the event. Tax receipts will be provided for all donations upon

This is an excellent opportunity for families with children to come and serve the community together. They will serve hot dogs, chips and soda to all who attend and they truly hope that it will be an enjoyable time for both our donors and community members! They are still in need of participants! Rain date is September 25th.

If you are interested in volunteering with HHRM, there is a new opportunity available! The organization is looking for volunteers to help at the mission with their distributions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tasks include sorting, folding, hanging on racks, rolling racks in and out of the building, helping with pantry bags on occasion and being available to help people find items for their families.
