Boy Scout Troop 399

North Babylon learned survival techniques, important skills, and fitness activities alongside West Point Cadets and other Boy Scouts at the West Point Invitational Camporee. Troop 399 Scouts and adult leaders started the weekend with a Lightfighter Hike, carrying everything they would need for approximately 3 miles. They experienced a taste of military life; eating K-rations, making

their own ziplines, rafting, hiking, and participating in other exciting learning opportunities that developed knowledge, grit, and character. At the end of the weekend, they celebrated with their fellow campers with music and a bonfire.

Boy Scout Troop 399 is a Boy Scout Troop based in North Babylon, NY and a member of the Sagtikos District of the Boy Scouts of America’s Suffolk County Council. Troop

399 is sponsored by the North Babylon Lions Club. Originally chartered in 1975, Troop 399 has offered scouting opportunities and taught boys to become leaders and serve their community for over 40 years. Meetings are held most Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. during the school year. STEM LESSON WORKS TO WITHSTAND THE ELEMENTS - Students in the West Babylon School District’s summer elementary program recently engaged in a STEM learning activity. The students in Ms. Cacciuttolo and Ms. Santorelli classes joined together for a buddy STEM lesson to create a tent that could withstand the elements. Students created a blueprint of how they were going to build the tent out of different materials provided before getting to work on their creations.
