safety measures to protect our youngest and most vulnerable residents,” said Councilman McSweeney, highlighting the urgent need for community involvement. Bobby Hazen, founder of End Drowning Now, shared essential drowningprevention tips and demonstrated lifesaving techniques. With drowning being the leading cause of unintentional death among children aged 1-4,

this initiative aims to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge to keep their families safe. Councilman McSweeney reminded parents & guardians to remember the acronym S.P.L.A.S.H.

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers homeowners the Energy Efﬁcient Home Improvement Credit, a fantastic opportunity to save money while making your home more eco-friendly. You can claim a tax credit of up to $3,200 for qualifying energy-efﬁcient improvements installed on or after January 1, 2023.

So, what does this mean for you? In simple terms, for every dollar you spend on qualified energy-efficient improvements, you can reduce your tax liability, up to the specified limit. The energy tax credit allows homeowners to recover 30% of the costs, up to $1,200, for improving home insulation. This credit can come from attic insulation, wall insulation, or exterior insulation that is placed behind the siding of your home.

Drive Thru Shed The Meds & Narcan Training Event

New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso, in partnership with Suffolk County Legislators Kevin McCaffrey and Steve Flotteron, Babylon Town Councilman Terence McSweeney and the West Babylon Fire Department are sponsoring a drive thru Shed The Meds and free Narcan Training event on Thursday, July 18, 2024, starting at 11:00am at the West Babylon Fire Department located at 126 Arnold Avenue in West Babylon.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s office will be on hand to collect your unused, expired, or unwanted medication between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Just drive thru and drop off medications for safe disposal. Liquid medications or sharps will NOT be accepted. A Northwell Health trained specialist will discuss signs of an opiate overdose, overdose risk factors, recognizing and responding to an overdose, and the administration of Naloxone (Narcan). Each registered participant will receive a free Narcan kit at the completion of the training. Registration is required. Call Assemblyman Durso’s office at 516-541-4598 to reserve your seat. The Narcan Training program will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. inside the Fire Department.
