Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc., a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, has announced its 4th Annual Hay Drive. It is hoping that animal

loving Long Islanders will once again help raise funds to feed the organization’s herd during the challenging winter months.

Feeding a large herd is costly and hay costs continue to increase due to weather and supply and demand challenges. Depending on

the type of hay, each bale of hay weighing approximately 50-80 lbs. can cost from $13.00 to over $20.00. Pal-OMine’s 6-week bill averages over $9,000 based on its herd eating 18 bales of hay (1,000 lbs.) every day. This year, due to its increasing operational costs as well as the increased cost of hay, the organization is hoping to raise $20,000 to cover its hay costs for the period from through April 15th.
