Gallery North partnering with Three Village Historical Society & Jazz Loft for series of outdoor artwork & craft marketplaces featuring food vendors, music Stony Brook, NY-The Jazz Loft, which recently completed a series of outdoor pop-up concerts in the Stony Brook area and several interactive museum tours, will be partnering with Gallery North and the Three Village Historical Society to present The Holiday Market, a series of new outdoor events showcasing the works of local, Long Island artists and makers, local musicians, and local eateries.

The Jazz Loft’s Equity Brass Band will be performing 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at all four Holiday Markets. The Market will take place November 28 and December 5, 12 and

19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. held outside on the grounds of Gallery North (90 N. Country Rd, Setauket) and the Three Village Historical Society (93 N. Country Rd, Setauket).

“This is a trifecta collaboration that I think celebrates the inventiveness of not-for-profits during this challenging season,” said Jazz Loft Founder Tom Manuel. “It’s uplifting to see how even during this crisis we’re looking beyond our own walls and making connections and supporting each other.”

The Jazz Loft Equity Brass band is being sponsored by Harlan Fischer (Branch Financial Services), the Oliveri Family (Dan Olivieri) and Ardolino Realty and Realty Connect (Michael Ardolino).

Students in Stacy Iberger and JoAnna Fasano’s second grade class at Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School were not only treated to a book reading of a timeless fable, they are also learning the importance of positive character traits to develop knowledge and life skills

the Three Village Historical Society which presents the little known Culper Spy Ring, centered in Setauket, that was active during the American Revolution from 1778 to 1783.

This is the story of the Culper Spy Ring When the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776, some Americans wanted to fight for independence from Great Britain and King George III. Those who favored independence were called patriots and those who supported the British were known as loyalists.

George Washington suffered heavy losses at the first major battle in Brooklyn, resulting in British occupation of Long Island. He realized that credible information about British troop movements was vital in preparing a successful campaign.

Washington sent Captain Nathan Hale to Long Island to discover British plans.

Hale’s ineffectiveness as a spy, his capture and execution, provided a framework for the development of a more effective intelligence operation. Over the next two years Washington struggled to establish a more reliable system.

In 1778 George

Washington asked Benjamin Tallmadge, his new Chief of Intelligence, to organize a network of spies now known as the Culper Spy Ring. To accomplish this, Tallmadge needed spies he could trust.

He recruited his childhood friends from Setauket, where he grew up.

The Spies!: How a Group of Long Island Patriots Helped George Washington Win the Revolution interactive exhibit at the Three Village Historical Society presents the Setauket-based Culper Spy Ring which was active during the American Revolution from 1778 to 1783.

The Three Village Historical Society is a long-lasting non-profit organization that works within the community to explore local history through education.

Educational programs are developed by collecting and preserving artifacts, documents, and other materials of local significance.

Ongoing research is conducted about the history of the people who have lived, from earliest habitation to modern times, in the Three Village area.

Board of Education Recognition In recognition of their commitment to its students, staff and community, the Three Village Central School District recently honored the seven members of its board of education, District Clerk and Ward Melville High School student representative this October. The celebration

was held during the board’s October meeting and in honor of the New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week.

During the event, representatives from each of the district’s schools made informational speeches about the honored guests and thanked them

for their volunteer services.

Each member was then presented with a token of appreciation.
