NEW ROOF TOPS - Town of Islip DPW crews recently replaced the roof of the pavilion and gazebo at Islip Town Beach on South Bay Ave in Islip. The existing roof was over 20 years old, and had been constructed in the 1990s. “Maintaining the structural integrity of our buildings helps ensure that future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy the many beautiful outdoor spaces throughout the Town of Islip,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. You can volunteer with the organization, even if it is just for a few hours, to help make a difference in the lives of others. Volunteers can participate in the following areas: Warehouse Sorting & Repacking (lifting is required), Clerical Tasks, Mobile Pantry, Food Pantries, Special Events, Food Drives or their Student Volunteer Corps. These children are living in NYC through the Harlem Dowling agency, a charity helping children succeed since the 1880’s. The Christmas wishes are first written out in the children’s Letters to Santa.

Then Help Mrs. Claus steps in and helps to fulfill these wishes. Since inception 9 years ago, Help Mrs. Claus has granted over 2,000 wishes, but they will not stop there! They are currently in the process of gathering gift donations for the upcoming Holiday Season. With plenty of children in need, they are still looking for volunteers and donations. The decades-old Christmas Bazaar is organized by ECW (Episcopal Church Women).

“It’s so much fun and helps to raise money for the church, and that filters down to the community.
