The Charity of The Month for February is: Girls on the Run of Long Island www.gotrlongisland.org Girls on the Run is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They run a physical activity-based positive youth development program that is designed to enhance girls’ social, psychological and physical skills and behaviors to help them successfully navigate life experiences.

Their upcoming spring season will begin the week of March 16th and is shaping up to be their largest season yet! This organization truly makes a difference! See the results from those who have participated:

They serve girls in grades 3-5 and inspire them to be joyful, healthy and confident by using a fun, interactive curriculum, which creatively integrates running! Meeting twice a week in small teams for a 10-week season, a volunteer coach will teach girls life skills through engaging lessons and fun movement activities. At each season’s conclusion, all girls from teams across Long Island will meet up for a celebratory 5K running event. This year’s 5K event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 at Hofstra University, where over 1000 individuals will run, volunteer or spectate to celebrate!

Smith Haven Mall And Roosevelt Field To Host ‘ZOMBIES 2’ Events Smith Haven Mall and Roosevelt Field invite the community to “ZOMBIES 2” events, aimed at entertaining and delighting children of all ages. The events will take place at Smith Haven Mall on Saturday, February 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Roosevelt Field on Saturday, February 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. For added fun, shoppers can spin the Prize Wheel at Smith Haven Mall’s Guest Services for a chance to win special prizes during the event and enjoy music and additional activities at Roosevelt Field.
