The Parrot EXPO Returns With A New Location!

The Long Island Parrot Society is a nonprofit that is dedicated to responsible bird ownership through education and example. They stayed strong through the pandemic and have even increased their membership over the past three years. However, their beloved Parrot EXPO, Long Island’s only major exotic bird event, hasn’t taken place since 2019.

It is with great excitment that they are bringing back the expo on Saturday, October 14th, with a new location, a new lower admission price and of course, everything parrot! Timed raffles, presentations by avian enrichment expert, Robin Sullivan, face painting, a fun prize wheel and networking

Smithtown Horizons And Youth Bureau Hold Drug Awareness Campaign For Red Ribbon Week

The Town of Smithtown Horizons Counseling and Education Center is teaming up with the Smithtown Youth Bureau to encourage Smithtown township K-12 students to participate in a creative and fun virtual initiative for Red Ribbon Week, which is October 23rd through October 31st. Students are invited to create their own artwork using this year’s Red Ribbon theme, Be Kind to Your MindLive Drug Free. Artwork should illustrate the ways you personally take care of your mind in

healthy ways. Students can draw, color, paint, or even use computer graphics to artistically edit a photo. Participants should put their initials, age and school on their piece of artwork. Town Certificates of Community Service for 1 hour of service will be provided for students in grades 6-12. Students in grades K-5 will receive a Certificate of Participation.

that the young people in the community created for this year’s campaign. There are so many ways to have fun and be healthy in life without the use of drugs and alcohol.
